Review of Tay Ho Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 9, 2014
The hotel is situated in a great location on the waterfront in front of the statue of Ho Chi Minh. All rooms are fully equipped, air conditioning, minibar and satellite TV. Rooms have balconies. The hotel staff were very polite and organize guided tours in Mekong River. Wifi connection very good.

We stayed for two nights in a room with a double and single for $22 USD/night. It was a great deal considering the bed was very comfortable (and the pillows), the shower was nice and hot, there was plenty of room and the wifi worked well (not super fast, but reliable). Staff were friendly. All in all, considering what we paid, this was a really good deal.

Be warned that the halls are all hard surfaces, so sound travels, and often people will be out and about early (5:30am) to go on river tours so if you are a light sleeper, use earplugs. No elevator either so if you can't deal with climbing, try to get a room on the first floor.

The place in right in the heart of the tourist area of Can Tho, and you can walk about 1 minute to the river to hire a river guide if you wish, or you can hire a boat through the lady at the hotel selling tours. We got a private boat for 2 people at 600 000 dong for four hours which was excellent.

No breakfast is provided, but there are plenty of places just outside the hotel with good food - try the Mekong Inn restaurant just two doors to the left exiting the hotel. Great food and cheap prices.

Nice clean room. Not so big, but the price is very good so that is alright.

We payed 32 $ for one room for 5 nights. Good location close to the harbour and all the boattrips.

Warm water in the shower and clean bathroom. Had many towels, soap, tothbrusch, tothpaste, comb inkluded. Enviromentfriendly (se our picture)

Good wi-fi.
Had a small refrigerator, minibar, TV, telephone. The air-condition was good.
Close to many shops and restaurants.
A litle bit streetnoise was heard, but what could you expect for that price...
The queensize bed wh ere a litle bit hard. But they often is like that in Asia. And we sleept well.

Reception helped us with booking the bus to Ho Chi Minh. (145000 viet dong/person) and the bus picked us up at the hotel.

Room tip: Depends on if you want see the harbour from your room. (Balcony are public) Those rooms are more noisy. So chose room in the back of the hotel if you want less noise.

Pro:
Room and bath clean, AC, flat TV, not run down

Contra:
Noise!
Breakfast not included
For rooms with windows you have to pay 4 USD more.

Better value for your money you get for example at Hau Giang 2 hotel, interestingly it belongs to the same owner group.

we spent two nights in the so called superior room, facing Ho chi minh statue and the riverfront, and it was definetely a great choice. the price is quite affordable, and this hotel was the best so far in south east asia. extremely clean, comfortable (huge single beds), and silent. there is also a small but nice balcony, for smoking and drinking the last beer, looking at the river. the staff was good english speeking, and really helpful (they arranged both our boat trip on the mekong delta, and our trip to saigon). breakfast is not included, but this was the only "problem". best choice you can make.

Among modern and high building of many hotels in Ninh Kieu Quay, Tay Ho is distinguished by its 2 storey house with old architecture. Room is standard. It is extremely convenient, with 1 step down the road, you are right at Ninh Kieu Quay. I rent a room with river view, we had balcony facing a river. It is a great place to sit back and enjoy the river wind and the mighty Mekong river.
