To arrive in Minzifa hotel, we needed a gsm-gps. Which means, if your driver is not from Bukhara, just phone to the hotel, and they will guide you and your driver willingly by telephone to the hotel. The hotel is situated in one of the small streets in the old town, just 5 minutes from the central place and the trading domes. An excellent startingpoint to discover the old historical town.
When we entered the carved wooden door we came into a peaceful courtyard. Timur and his crew welcomed us very friendly and showed us our room. Every room is different and very elegant, nicely decorated with traditional textile, carved ceilings. The whole house is built as a copy of the traditional Bukharian house of Timurs grandmother. Many craftsmen have worked months and months to create all this. The bathrooms are modern, clean and the showers work very well (we had three different rooms, so we know!).
We had our breakfast at the courtyard, a very peaceful place where you can also sit and relax after your visits. The breakfast is generous, with cheese, cold meat, yoghurt, fruit, pancakes or eggs (changes every day), jam, coffee or tea. Plenty enough.
If ever you have questions or need some information, just ask. Timur is trying to find a solution for all your problems. He even went with us to the post office on his bike to carry the books we wanted to post!
We certainly can recommend the Minzifa Hotel. We found everything we expected : a nice and cosy place to stay and rest, a nice and pleasant room with a comfortable bed, a good shower, a generous breakfast, and nice people – management ánd crew, who is available 24 hours. They can offer you all kind of services, like tourist guide in the city, taxi drivers to tourist places or to the next city, free internet - but don’t expect the speed you are used to in Europe. So if you want to download pictures for your blog, be patient, but it is the common speed in Uzbekistan.
The Minzifa family is further more represented in Bukhara in the Minzifa restaurant and the Minzifa Shop in the Taki-Telpak Furushon trading dome, the skullcaps dome. Just try ! The restaurant has a nice top terrace from where you have a very beautiful view over the city. You can enjoy the orange sky during the sunset and of course you eat well.
If you love carpets, or other traditional textile you need to go to the Minzifa shop. They have much experience and are very correct. They have also a shop near the Museum of Applied Arts in Tashkent.
The “Minzifa experience” is one of the many very positive experiences from our Uzbekistan trip. We certainly go back!
