We spent two nights here in four rooms as there were 8 of us. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and can organize transportation to other places as well as to the temple. The hotel is lovely looking with artifacts and antiques everywhere. The pool area is lovely. The mattresses are a bit hard and the water pressure not great. But overall I thought the hotel was very nice, we had meals there and they were great.

Room tip: The rooms around the pool on the ground level are very nicely done out

I stayed one night few days ago. Good point: staff is very kind and the swimming pool surrounding the rooms very scenic. I think that is the only good point. The room needs work, it is old, the bed is like a rock, the bathroom is very basic. During the night a continuos noise, maybe from the air conditioning system, although My airco was switched off. When I woke up a terrible smell from bathroom was very disgusting. I didn't try breakfast: it is only from 7 to 9.... But, poor me, I tried the restaurant: not good at all. Overall a bad experience. Don't trust the website, please!

The "new city" of Sukhothai is pretty charmless -- a long, dusty road that cuts past shops and auto-repair garages.

But if you're staying here, instead of the boutique hotels near the historical park, Ruean Thai is a good bet. It's a nicely-designed hotel laid out around a central courtyard with a swimming pool. Rooms are basic but clean, and they're pretty well-sealed against the ubiquitous mosquitoes (the beds have nets, too).

Free wi-fi, though it only works well in the courtyard, and a simple free breakfast is included too. They'll provide transport to and from the bus station.

The hotel is a bit of a hike from the center of Sukhothai, where shared buses leave for the historical park -- maybe 15 minutes walk -- but you're not missing much.

Great little hotel with loads of atmosphere. Owners are very helpful in providing free transport downtown and to the bus station. Pool is beautiful but a bit on the cold side. Breakfast was typical, but nice setting. Definitely a must stay.

It's a nice hotel. Simple room but clean. Breakfast is fair for the price and swimming pool is really inviting. Nevertheless, the town really sucks...so I would recommend a nice hotel with its own restaurant near the historical park.
