Old Thai authentic style hotel, all in wood. Very zen and relaxing. Good restaurant. Lovely people, super friendly and service oriented. We had a Thai massage on the beds near the pool: as the rest of the hotel, no frills, but friendly and good quality. Can't go wrong with this one to visit sukhothai.

Compared to other hotels the Ruean Thai Hotel is not really expensive, but there are too many reasons why i was happy to stay there only for one night:

The hotel is far outside the new part of Sukhotai, a long walk... they told me that it would be a 10 minutes walk downtown which was far from being true. I changed my room three times (first room: dirty sheets, obviously not changed, second room: a Lizard - they blamed me for that Lizard - perhaps it was my fault because the door did not close properly, third room: was "just ok" for one night). Rooms have no windowpanes - you need the window shutter day and night to avoid having to many flies in your room... so you sit in the dark... and at night it is noisy. The room was not really clean, breakfast was really really poor. The water in the pool looked not really fresh and clean - and there was a charge for the towel at the pool (unbelivable, 40 Bahts).

The only good two things - as always in Thailand: Staff was really nice. And there was a free shuttle to the bus station. But in the end I stay in a hotel not for the staff, I stay in a hotel for having a clean environment and a good sleep. Both I did not get in the Ruen Thai Hotel, sorry.

This is a very nice and very Tai hotel. The rooms have great character and very nice amenities. We arrived a little late so we had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. The pool is very nice and modern while in an old world setting. The staff is very accomidating and helpful.

Room tip: ask for a room off the street but its not that loud. Mostly roosters which are loud anyewhere.

The hotel is far from the "old Sukhothai" but the hotel provides free shuttle to the bus stop, from there a sorng thew takes you to the old city for only 30 BTH. The bedroom have a very specific old thai style, which is very charming. The swimming pool is lovely, though not big nor water totally clean, but it is so good after one day visiting the old city. The staff is very nice, the breakfast provides several options, the wi-fi is accessible from close to the reception, not the rooms (it is a bit slow also) but sufficient for our own use. Overall the whole family appreciated this hotel.

We stayed here 1 night but if we would have stayed longer we would take another hotel because this one is noisy ( wooden cabins along a street) and breakfast was poor. It looks like they fill it up at 7 am and that's it. At 8.30 eggs, sausages and fried rice don't taste so well. Beds didn't sleep well also, they are to soft.
