Surrounded by water, this temple is very beautiful viewing from outside of the reservoir, especially the inverted image.

Ur 100 baht ticket includes this wat as well. It makes a very good phototaking spot as it includes a whole Buddha situated on an island and a bridge

Tip: There are buses that leave you in the ruins for 30B (supposedly children pay less). tuk tuk drivers try to rip you off.
This temple is set on an island. It has a beautiful wood bridge with a view to the lake.
The Buddha is gorgeous and very well preserved. A must see.

Fantastic experience and a must for all who travel up North in Thailand. Beautiful lakes and ruins, lots of great outdoor restaurants all cheap and outstanding food. You can rent bicycles here and potter around at your leisure. We drove around in a Toyota Fortuner as we have young kids and air-con was a blessing. Sukhothai, like Uttaradit and Phisanalok get extremely hot throughout the afternoon, with a dry heat that can become too much unless you have sun umbrellas, hats etc. You could easily spend the best part of a day here, as there are many temples to see. Admission is 100 baht for foreigners and 20 baht for Thai's, so this attraction is not expensive (unlike some others). Plenty of hotels and resorts near by, we drove back to the in-laws and so couldnt review any accomodation here, although there are lots near by.

Wat Sa Si is another Wat which is situated opposite the lake of the Famous Wat Mahamat. It has a wooden bridge to go across to a small island, which is a nice stop to relax from the hot sun.
