Myself and two friends spent four nights at BLES and there is not one downside to being there. The whole experience is amazing. The rooms were beautifully decorated and well looked after, the food was out of this world, everything was prepared fresh for you and it was always a variety so you got a wide variety of Thai culture. If there was anything you wanted to try in particular then Katherine made it so (even disgusting Durian). The elephants and other animals at the sanctuary was just an extraordinary experience. Spending time being able to watch these animals that have been through so much finally be happy was really inspiring and at times overwhelming. Not only did we spend time with the elephants, but if there was anything else we wanted to do all we had to do is ask. We visited Sukohthai's historical park, Fa took us there and showed us around. We had amazing iced tea and got to visit the food markets at night and early morning ones, all the time trying new experiences. We spent an afternoon teaching local kids English and cutting banana trees down. The whole trip was just amazing. The people at BLES are some of the most amazing people I have met. The Mahouts obviously love and care for their elephants, Fa was hilarious and great fun to be around. Katherine was truly inspirational and her kids were lovely. I would definitely recommend a visit to Boon Lott Elephant Sanctuary, it's not to be missed.

I visited here with Katherine, her family and of course the elephants in January (best time to visit!) and left with such a sense of peacefulness. Walking with elephants as they roam their surroundings can be described as nothing more than blissful. Katherine is a natural born story teller and the stories she tells will break your heart with respect to what these gentle giants experienced before their arrival at BLES; then your heart will be filled to overflowing when you hear about their recovering and you will experience the joy!

This extraordinary elephant sanctuary has made a home for horribly abused gentle giants. These beautiful, intelligent and emotional elephants have been over worked in logging, begging and repeatedly beaten and abused. The wonderful love and dedication to saving these sweet giants is done from pure love by the founders of the sanctuary. They have treated them with kindness and love. You can visit this beautiful heaven on earth, one of a kind, place of love for elephants. You can stay for a night or a week in one of their cottages in the woods and get up close and personal with these rescued creatures. It's the experience of a lifetime.

My partner and I stayed at BLES for 2 nights/3 days and wish we had stayed for longer. BLES is the most beautiful and tranquil environment for the lucky animals who have been rescued by Katherine, and for us humans. It was brilliant to see the elephants living peacefully and being able to behave like elephants- there were no tricks/performances and no set times, we did what the elephants wanted to do and when they wanted to do it. The owner, Katherine, is such an inspirational woman and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Her assistant Fa was also fantastic, he spoke great English and kept us laughing for the whole trip. BLES is not a resort and you will be helping out so go there expecting to get your hands dirty. Despite this, there was still plenty of relaxing time and plenty of time to spend with the lovely animals. The cabins were gorgeous and the food was awesome, very authentic and delicious Thai! My partner and I will definitely be going back and cannot recommend BLES enough to any fellow animal lovers.

I have been to several elephant sanctuaries and nowhere else have I seen them as happy and playful as they are at BLES.
There are no day trippers and only a maximum of 6 volunteers at any one time this makes it a unique experience unlike any other in Thailand. You can enjoy watching the elephant playing and interacting with each other in the beautiful surrounding forest and frolicking in the river and mud just being elephants. Katherine is a wonderful host with a huge amount if knowledge, well worth the 5000 THB per night price tag.
