“best value for money”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

I have to go to Thailand quite often for the shipyard. Any time I come here, I stay at the Gleam resort - at least since it opened a few years back. I must have been here at least 10 times by now.
I love this place for the following reasons:
the location is closed to downtown Satun and quiet
the rooms are tip-top clean and nicely set up
The bed is very comfortable and the aircon works perfectly fine
the pool is small but truly nice as well
you can use the kitchen if you like
most over all you feel truly welcome here and the staff assists in any task you put on them.
The value for money is excellent!

The purpose of our visit to southern Thailand was to visit the Thale Ban National Park on the Malaysian border, but we found the nearest hotels were in Satun, some 30 kilometres and a 40 minute drive away. The Gleam Resort although having an unusual name, seemed to get some good reviews so we booked three nights From February 21st. We arrived around late afternoon and found lots of space to park the car. The resort is at the end of a quiet road and has many mature trees in the grounds with birds everywhere.

We were greeted on arrival by the owner and her friendly staff and after a quick check-in, we were shown to our room which was a single bungalow-type building. The resort is new and the room was nice, basic and clean with aircon and tea/coffee making facilities. There was a big king-sized bed in the main room and a combined toilet/shower room. It looked fine until we tried to shut the door. It wouldn't shut properly and there was a big gap at the bottom. The windows were the same with gaps at the top. Not good with the prospect of mosquitos. I went to see to see the owner manager and discussed the problem of the door and windows. She was very accommodating and offered to move us to another room, which was also an upgrade.

It was a really nice room, large and spacious, with a king-sized bed, a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities. The pillows were quite low which meant a comfortable night's sleep for me. There were several windows around the room which made the room very bright and they looked out on the pool. The wash room had a toilet but no shower, which was actually outside in a walled courtyard where there was also a large tub. It was great being able to go outside and have a shower in the sunshine. Very nice indeed. And there was also a sun terrace on the roof, reached by a flight of steps. It gave a panoramic view of the hotel grounds and nearby houses. There was Wi-Fi which worked fine, even in the rooms.

The small restaurant area was by the reception and the traditional food was very tasty with fair-sized portions. The breakfast was a bit plastic, but most breakfasts are in Thailand. The breakfast itself wasn't available until 7.30am which is late if you want to get to the National Park early in the day. Apart form the air-con which hummed a little, this resort has a lot going for it. The rooms are nice (If the gaps are fixed) and the grounds are green and pleasant to sit out in on your porch if you like reading or relaxing in the morning or afternoon. The pool is large enough to swim and play in and there are sun loungers, albeit only a few.

Would I stay again? Certainly.

Room Tip: All the rooms appeared to be quiet and of the same standard except the suite-type room by the pool...

Situated close to the centre in the town of Satun, this is a wonderful small resort set in beautiful gardens and with a decent sized swimming pool. The bungalows have well appointed, large bedrooms with nice bathrooms. We had very comfortable stay. A decent breakfast is included and overall the food although limited is good.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

We enjoyed our Chinese New Year breakaway at The Gleam Resort Satun. You will never thought of such wonderful resort hidden in a small town. We like the layout, the landscape, the service and the people there. Quiet environment and nice climate earn extra credits for the resort. The starry nights at the sun deck is unforgettable. We even think of what to do up there during our next visit on our way home.
If I have a longer break, I'll extend my stay for sure.
The Gleam Resort Satun, we'll be back very soon.

It is a Beautiful and Serene Resort. There are so many lovely details. The whole resort is a pleasure, the architecture and the landscape so modern and yet so Asian at its best with beautiful flowering plants. Also the pool area has a wonderful setting. Exactly what we hope for, authentic with a special touch. The food was excellent. The team is very friendly and efficient. Great Wi-Fi reception .We stayed an extra day not planned just to relax. Pricing Wonderful.

My expat friends in Langawi recommended The Gleam Resort as a perfect stay in Satun while doing a visa-run. And they were right. I made booking via e-mail and got a confirmation in couple of minutes... (suprising in South-East Asia). The Gleam was spotlessly clean and the staff polite and helpful. This kind of resort within walking distance from Satun's center, with this price is a true gem. We booked the three night promotion package and ended up staying four nights because of the relaxing atmosphere and possibly the best beds in Tahailand.

My first time in Saturn and I stayed in a standard room, which was excellent. spacious, clean, comfortable, with a really good double bed. Despite having only a cooler box in room, Khun Ao was happy to let me use her array of fridges and freezers. I highly recommend The Gleam and will be back.

Located on the out skirts of Saturn it is still easily walkable, or you can use one of the bicycles offered by Khun Ao. She was also happy to arrange a moped hire for me at THB250 per day. This service was excellent as they dropped and picked up the bike.

Overall The Gleam was the highlight of my Staurn trip

Room Tip: I stayed in a standard room, with out a fridge, but Khun Ao was kind enough to store everything that...
