Gorgeous hotel, ideal stop for people travelling with public transport to Sukhothai. It is really worth for money, rooms are clean and nice, there is buffet breakfast with a great assortment of thai and international dishes. Staff is very helpful. I would recommend it, for sure!

Looks great on the Internet, but does not stand up to the test of staying there. No service of any kind other than breakfast, rooms old and dirty bathrooms. Smells of old carpets and moth balls.

No bar open , no restaurant open, hotel like a ghost town, had difficulty in paying because of poor reception for credit card machine. Breakfast was good, staff nonprofessional considering the hotel status. Would never stay again or recommend.

Dear Mr. Robert B

I honestly do not understand your comment, There are something I would like to clarify,, First of all, We have just renovated the room since the middle of this year, we have change pretty much everything in the room ( bed, towels, pillow, furniture, etc) especially the floor, you said you could smell the old carpets, but our floor is wood, how could you smell the old ''carpet'' ? And in the bathroom or public toilet we do not put any moth balls as we use perfume spray instead, so how could you smell it? Our Restaurant opened till around 1 am and there is live music from 7 to 11pm , and there alway staffs stand by to serve. and why did u say there is no restaurant open?, and our room average is more than 50% each month, thus the hotel is not a ghost town for sure.

Thank you.

Ueamduan Pattarapinyo,

We visited Phitsanulok to celibrate the Loy Kratong festival. The Hotel had a good location near the River and it was walking distance to the festival area and the Town centre. The Service at the Hotel was good, the Room nice and Breakfast ok. We had one Dinner at the Hotel and it wasn't really worth it. It is better to eat outside at any of the nice restaurants near the River.
However, overall the stay was better than expected and good value for the money.

We arrived in Bangkok and booked a train straight up north to Phitsanulok, set to arrive at 11pm. Many hours later we got in at 1pm, and walked the short walk across the river to the Grand Riverside Hotel. The rooms are a bit tired, but it was exactly what we wanted: no fuss check-in, air-con, dark curtains and comfy pillows. Had the best nights sleep of the holiday. The breakfast was also pretty good with lots of choice.

I agree that the hotel is a little tired but we were more than happy with our stay. The hotel is in walking distance of the train station though we got a tuktuk. Everyone was very friendly. The bed was amazing. Without doubt the most comfy bed we have stayed in in Thailand. The pillows were also big and fluffy. We were impressed with Phitsanaluk too - well worth a stop off on the journey up to Chaing Mai from Bangkok. It is an hour's bus journey away from Sukothai.
