nice quick check in.Lift a little worn, why hotels don't tart up the lift its cheap and effective however room clean and comfortable, internet excellent as they have wired connection instead of weak wifi.staff helpful when I asked about noise and assured me it would be quiet which it was.On the opposite side of the river is a good night bazzar and park which give you something pleasant to do in the evening, breakfast ok.

The Grand Riverside may just be the nicest hotel I've stayed in during my visits to Thailand. It has the feel and decor of a 5 star hotel, with the lovely crystal chandeliers, marble staircases, and lovely outdoor dining. The rooms were very comfortable, with good air-conditioning, very comfortable beds, and all the modern conveniences such as an LCD TV, in-room safe, wi-fi, and modern bathrooms. The view from my room was lovely, looking out over the Nan River and across the city of Phitsanulok.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, once they got over being somewhat intimidated by my fast English. Phitsanulok is a bit off the beaten path for the English-speaking tourist, and I did not help matters by talking far too fast. Once I slowed down, Pong, the staff member with the best English, was able to communicate very well. This same Pong had responded to my emails from Canada prior to my trip, and had helped arrange not only a full day private tour of ancient Sukhothai, complete with car, driver and guide, but had also personally helped arrange a rental car for me for the two days following the Sukhothai Tour.

The complimentary breakfast was simply the best I have ever had in Thailand, with extensive choices of Thai and Western foods, mulitiples choices and fruit and juice, fresh coffee, and all served in a beautiful outdoor patio restaurant surrounded by palm trees and overlooking the Nan River.

This hotel caters mainly to Thai tourists who come to visit Wat Yai and the nationally famous Phra Buddha Chinnerat, but is definitely worth a stay for any western tourist travelling through the area. You will have one of the nicest stays of your time in Thailand, and every western tourist in the area should make a point of visiting Wat Yai themselves. Phitsanulok is also a good base for a visit to the ancient capital city of the Siam Empire, Sukhothai, which was the capital long before Ayutthaya. Sukhothai has some of the most amazing ancient ruins of not only Thailand, but in the world, on par with the Giza Pyramids, Stonehenge, Chitza Nitza and the like. Not to be missed.

If I was ever back in the Phitsanulok area for any reason, this would be the hotel I would definitely stay in again.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was comfortable and clean. The bar was extremely limited and the restaurant was okay for breakfast. The staff were quite friendly and helpful and would recommend this hotel if you were visiting for a short period on business or pleasure. The Internet functioned well. This company owns a new property where we had stayed before and wished we had returned there instead of staying at this location. The hotel is called Pattara Resort & Spa. It is more expensive but still very affordable.

The location is absolutely amazing: in front of the river, in a really quite area, not far from the railway station, but near to the night market. The hotel services are excellent: rooms, breakfast, internet access. It’s clean and the staff really polite and professional… even if only one girls at the reception can speak English.
