Truly wonderful view, good food. Very gracious hosts, even when we had to leave unexpectedly earlier than our booking, they wouldn't take the money owed for the nights not used and organized our onward travel!

Stayed in these lovely bungalows for four nights in Feb 2011 and would highly recommend to all. The owners are so honest and helpful nothing is a bother to them. The island is unspoilt and although the beaches may not be the nicest in Thailand the island has a lot to offer those looking for a relaxing holiday. The bungalows are huge with lovely terraces and sometimes you may even get a visit from the owners cats to welcome you back from the beach.

After spending a couple of hours in Phuket, we were craving for some down-time on a beach in Thailand. I can't believe I found this place!! The boat ride was majestic. It's a bit "off-the-beaten-track" but it is well worth the while, especially if you take a long boat. Paramote, the owner of Tabaek, the police chief of the island came to greet us when we arrived. It was a delightful and bumpy road until our destination. Tabaek Viewpoint is nothing one can imagine. It is remote but close to the sea, a rustic yet clean and "taken-care-of" place you can call home on your vacation.... A quiet haven from the usual touristy traps you find around the world.... The island itself is not on the tourist maps, and I am grateful for it. Yes, there are some resorts for the wealthy and occidentals, but it is an island that respects its muslim background and expects (or at least I do) for visitors to be mindful of their customs.
Paramote and his wife Kazuyo were gracious hosts. Dining up the hill at their humble restaurant was a treat every time! Literally, try anything on the menu! I have yet to find a better thai curry anywhere in Canada!
If you are looking for a party in Thailand, this is not the place for you, and really, just stay away..... This is a place for relaxation and warm welcoming. Let's enjoy great food, great scenery, and a quiet retreat for the over-worked city dwellers of the Americas.
I hope it stays the same! I can't wait to come back! Did I mention that it was budget-travel all the way?!?!
Absolutely out of this world!
Though the low-tide made it unwelcoming for the beach dwellers, the higher tide at six pm really made my day, dipping in before the night set in... very refreshing!
All in all, an unforgettable experience, that I am grateful for!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
Btw, Mat, down the street owns a restaurant that makes killer pizzas and curries! The island experience is simply soooooo relaxing that I can't believe I came back to this North American lifestyle!!!
Enjoy it before it is gobbled up into a tourist destination!

We stayed there for four nights in November. The view is stunning. We spent hours on the balcony watching the bay. The room is clean and well built. The owners are really nice and helpful. We rented a scooter to go around the island and spent a day on their cousin's boat. The food at the restaurant is excellent, we ate there during all our stay: curries, seafood etc.

Plus:
- the view
- food at the restaurant
- possibility to rent a scooter and do a boat tour

Cons:
- water pressure in the shower
- the nearby beach has emerging rocks at low tide, which makes it difficult to swim. We usually walked to the other side of the beach, in front of Koyao resort, where we could swim.

Tabeak viewpoint is just so special. Ko Yao Noi is a great, unspoiled gem of an island just begging to be explored by bike or moto, and the islands off the coast are well worth renting a boat for a day and exploring - activities that can all be arranged through the tabeak.

We stayed at Tabeak Viewpoint for 4 nights. After busy Railay Beach it was a welcome change to enjoy some time to relax. We loved the view. ( I could not stop making pictures.)
The owners are the best and they really want you to feel at home. They also provide you with good advise and only want the best for you.
We planned a boat trip with a longtail to the islands on the north side of the islands. The owners prepared us lunch and we bought some fruit on the way) The islands that you visit are so cool and you have the beach for yourself (a big change after Railay as well)
The big tree that you can only visit by boat is also amazing. i guess you need 20 persons to make a circle around that tree!!
An other day we rented motorbikes on KohYao Noi, The owners take care of this. And the next day we went to Koh Yao Yai and there the owners organised motorbikes for us to go to the pier for the boat to the other island. An on the other side they had booked us 4 new motorbikes. The southern island is great to visit as well and is even more remote than the northern island.

The rooms are great. We had bungalow 1. Our teenage boys got 2 musquito tents. The food is great which you enjoy your terrace watching the view. I did not have any problems with noisis from the restaurant as everyone goes to bed ealrly and when the sun rises I am up anyway (to see the view again!!)
I would definitely recommend it and oh yes, you are allowed to use the computer of the owners if you wish.

A friend and I stayed 2 nights in Tabeak after spending the two previous nights on Yao Yai (see review of Heimat Gardens on Yai). Tabeak is another lovely small guesthouse/hotel that really does have the most amazing views. We stayed in the top row nearer the restaurant and although voices from the restaurant do carry a bit it was never disturbing and everyone slept by 10 pm anyway! Excellent value for money - bungalow #1 is huge and was perfect. One small suggestion - it would have been nice to have a cotton top sheet rather than the slighly shiny satin bedspread - but other than that everything was great, food excellent and free coffee/tea all day was a nice touch.
