“Good fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

You do feel like you've gone back to your childhood a little as you are shown your room; a massive dorm filled with beds arranged like a treehouse. I stayed really high up and I did feel a little nervous about falling out of bed but it was good fun.
The communal area is really relaxed and chilled, and in the evening everyone comes together and drinks which is really social and you're made to feel so welcome.
Staff are very friendly too.
Most people hire mopeds, but we just walked into town - 10min walk but we didn't mind.
Also used the pool across the road for 100baht.
Free toast and tea is definitely a good shout for breakfast too!
Would definitely recommend this place, it's like one big spicy family!

What an amazing hostel!! I have NEVER stayed in a hostel as unique as this one! The view from the communal area is breathtaking and even more enjoyable as you relax on a hammock! The dorm rooms are enchanting as the beds are made from wood!! Very sociable hostel and the staff are keen to join in with everyone! Just a tiny bit outside of the main village area and many backpacker rented mopeds to get about. There is a swimming pool close by so ask for directions as it make a refreshing change ha

I enjoyed the social atmosphere of Spicy. The location was a bit of a walk from town but nothing extreme. The staff was great and really helpful. I would recommend staying at Spicy..stay long enough to enjoy a BBQ there!

For me, this is the best place to stay in Thailand and maybe even South East Asia. It is 100% what a backpackers should be like.

The location is amazing, out from the town a little but easy to walk or motorbike. There is big open bamboo dorms where you stay, no worries about your bags or valuables. Its not the sort of place you need to think about problems.

The social area is brilliant, you can get drinks and party with fellow backpackers and then all go to a bar for more fun. It was so social, so fun and one of my most memorable places i have ever stayed.

I was there for 3 days last year, i would go back in a heartbeat. I wish i could have stayed for 3 weeks rather than the 3 days. Great times!

We stayed at Spicy Pai for 3 nights. First night at one of the nicely constructed dorms where most guests stayed. It was a little bit loudy, but just make sure that you'll be part of the fun.

We spent the other two nights in an airconditioned bungalow, which was amazing. Both the room itself as well as the bathroom are big and it provides everything for a pleasant stay (even a small fridge). Furthermore, it is located 100m away from the dorms and the main cabin where everyone comes together at night. Hence, you're close to where it all happens, but you can easily and comfortably go to sleep afterwards.

(Spicy) Pai is definitely one of the best places we've stayed at and we recommend it to every single fellow backpacker out there!

When I booked spicy pai, I didn't know I was in for a surprise. I expected it to be just another hostel. But, it is the most creative hostel I have ever stayed in.

Pros:

1. The most amazing view each morning. I was surrounded by rice fields which turned golden with sunrise.
2. Staying in a shack was amazing. I slept on a bamboo bed which I had to reach by climbing a ladder like climbing a tree.
3. The party area is separate from sleeping area so there is little disturbance for early sleepers
4. Very safe and near Pai central market
5. Gave an amazing experience of rural Thailand.
6. We could take drinks and pay later. I liked the trust they had on us. No one stole anything.
7. There was a very friendly cat.

Cons:
1. Wi-Fi was dicy. Did not work often.

I would go back and stay there whenever I go to Pai.
The highlight: I went to Pai on motorbike and got lost in the mountains near Pai at night. The owner of this hostel came on his scooter to pick me up.

Room Tip: There is no room. The sleeping area is common. There are other private shacks as well but I did not...

i stayed here the first couple of nights i stayed in Pai, straight away i met friendly people who became my friends. the location was okay, not too far away from the town but the walk back at night can drag abit if you dont rent a motorcycle. the hostel beds were the coolest most ingenious thing ive seen, very cool! i didnt see much of the staff really apart from when i wanted to book a dorm bed for the next night. people didnt stay up too late so got a good nights sleep. very clean, hot showers, and a beautiful view of the sunset. :-) also the cutest friendliest cat ever that spent most days curled up in my bed haha! would recommend to anybody! but book in advance!!
