After touring the town for places to stay this was the best low cost place we found. The rooms are in bungalows with a little terrace out front and cost 500B a night.

The rooms are clean, specious, have air-con, a safe and a private bathroom. The bathroom is sort of outdoors as although attached to the room, there is no real ceiling. This is fine but does make insects and issue in the evening - no massive problems though. The shower is nice and hot but sometimes the water pressure is low when everyone seems to be showering?

The staff are friendly and helpful and are pretty relaxed - we stayed on a day to day basis and just let them know in the morning if we wanted to stay on.

Overall a really relaxed little place in a fab location for a cheap price- maybe bring a mozzie net though.

What were nice about the hotel included 1) nice location - close to the walking street and the Pai river 2) nice owner who was caring and attentive and 3) good service minded staff, even they are not good in either Thai or English, they were willing to help.

What could be improved includes 1) opened bathroom that allowed mosqueto to fly in 2) noisy environment from next doors

P.S. the hotel is not located right next to the river as its name (in Thai). It is about 300-500 meters away.

We chose this hotel because we were only in Pai town for one night and wanted a central location and the price through a well-known hotel booking operator was reasonable. We thought "how bad could it be for one night?".

Pros - good-sized room with tea/coffee facilities. Great location. Staff were clearly expecting us on arrival and showed us to our rooms quickly and efficiently and were also very helpful as we departed.

Cons - It was January so we knew the nights would be cold in Pai. What we hadn't expected was to shiver the night away under the duvet. And searching revealed no blankets anywhere - and you couldn't contact reception to assist as it is not manned overnight.

The air-con appeared to have the facility to switch to warm air, but it didn't work in reality. This was not helped by the modern, concrete-finish to the rooms which might be cool in summer, but just added to the feeling of coldness and dampness at this time of year.

The door to the bathroom opened to 3 huge steps down into the cold, concrete bathroom, with its small open window to the elements and mozzies. There was a rail to cling to but the floor was lethal once you showered. Showering in the cold is not nice when you are already freezing after a night's sleep - brrrrrr. Our friends next door had the most appalling smell in their bathroom, such that they brushed their teeth elsewhere. Ours was not so bad, but you cannot help but be aware of an unpleasant pong from time-to-time.

Like many other reviewers, I was disturbed by huge amounts of noise from the various neighbours, there is clearly a sound-proofing issue with this hotel. Shame, as the look of the chalets and the grounds they are in (whilst small) is quite appealing on arrival.

For some reason - the staff? - I have felt reluctant to list the cons of this hotel, but I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend it to a friend. Which is a shame, because it could easily be a special, boutique resort, on par with many others we have enjoyed in Thailand,

If you are looking for a relaxing and comfy place to stay in Pai, I strongly recommend you to choose other places to stay. Staying in your own room, you will hear people walking, talking all time especially if you are coming in winter time and you like to open window at night. You will hear toilet flush, their tvs, their talk SUPER clearly. Though the place is located in good location, you would be regret if you are looking for a relaxing place to admire the nature and beauty of Pai. My neighbors woke up like 4.30am walking and talking in the hotel area, I could hear them talking, laughing, using toilet, singing, etc. until 7.30am which totally upset me coz I couldn't go back to bed anymore. Plus toilet is smelly! Highly not recommended !!!!!!!!

As Pai is a very popular tourist resort we were expecting to pay a bit extra for our one night's accommodation .
However, I think 50 euros for a small, dark bedroom with an extremely dingy and very dank smelling toilet/ shower room was a bit of a rip off.
We have travelled extensively in Thailand and I think this was the worst value for money place we have ever stayed in. NOt only that, but because of the flimsy nature of the chalets it was possible to hear our neighbour's TV at 3 in the morning. Not exactly relaxing.
The only real benefit to the place is its location which is central, but then Pai is rather small.
You'll do better elsewhere.
