“The Burmese-style main temple is beautiful”

Ranked #4 of 24 things to do in Lampang
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 15, 2013

The main temple has Burmese-styled roofs (multi-layered and cone-shaped) which is rare in Thailand. Interesting and beautiful enough. Other buildings are quite ordinary.
I'd give four stars for the main temple, but unfortunately there were many dogs in the temple ground, and I was chased by a pack of puppies which seemed to consider a small chedi I tried to reach as their territory. I know this might sound humorous, but Thailand still hasn't got rid of rabies and you should avoid dogs there. Why don't they train them? Minus one for that.

By the way, if you go to this temple, pay a visit to Baan Sao Nak, a beautiful teak-wood house built in 1985. It's along the way to the temple from the town.

Really nice temple to visit, definitely worth when visiting Lampang! You do have to pay a small entry fee but this is little compared to what you get when walking around the temple grounds.

Nothing much to dislike, simply a great temple with many additional buildings, stupas, trees and gardens to visit. An absolute MUST is to spot the fantastic camera obscura that so many people miss.

A beautiful temple, not to be missed when you are in Lampang. Apart from Wat Prathat Lampang Luang this is one of the must-see temples in Lampang

The famous Emerald Buddha, now in Bangkok, was ensconced here from 1436 to 1468. It is a very valued site and lovely to visit.
I would probably be more impressed if I wasn't so jaded from having visited hundreds of Thai temples.
