wonderful stay, i would definitely recommend other people to go. If I could have done it, I would have stayed longer time. Lampang is a quite and very small city, if you are looking for crazy nights out it's probably not the best choice, but if you are trying to explore the real Thailand, far aways from the shows and fictions, you are in the right place, and the Auangkam resort give you a perfect cozy, welcoming and clean place where to sleep. Just one thing, breakfast it's not included, but if you want it in the hotel, you can order it the evening before (by 22.00).

Room Tip: as seen in some other suggestions too... ask for the room on the second floor, so you will not hear...

Absolutely gob smacked to be greeted by the owner with a warm hug. I picked the resort from reviews on the internet, only to find on my arrival that the owner used to work for me some 20 years ago, when we lived as a family in Lampung and I worked on the Mae Moh power project. He has been very helpful in my search to make contact with local Lampung friends from our past.
New travellers will find previous reviews to be accurate. This is a well planned small boutique style resort, full of quiet charm. An excellent place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet an easy 10 minute walk to the "center" of town. Lampang is rich in culture and well worth a visit. Dont miss the historical museum next to the clock tower, near the river. Do stay at the Auangkham Resort. You will not regret your stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

We discovered Auangkham by chance while searching the Internet. Our family stayed there for one night after finishing our northern Thailand roadtrip. It made for a refreshing stop on the way back to Bangkok.

Auangkham is medium sized, clean and efficient with an old school charm if you can call it that. The central location of this family operated business makes it ideal for holidayers looking to explore the attractions of Lampang, as well as anyone who has to be in the province for business.

Parking space is limited to, say, probably eight vehicles. We are not sure how many rooms they have in total but we managed to take up the last two spots in the night of our stay. We imagine parking to be a small inconvenience if all the guests arrive with their cars.

There is no reason to not like this place. For what it is worth, we did not see a comparable accommodation in the five kilometers radius as we walked about the town and market areas before checking out. We will stay at Auangkham again if we have to visit Lampang for any reason.

The Auangkham Resort in Lampang's old town is off the tourist trail, thus it is not the easiest place to find. It took us some while zig-zagging the small sois, before we finally gave up and called the hotel. End of problem, they talked, I drove and we were in the resort within a few minutes. The area is actually quite unique, unspoilt and with some delightful architecture. The Hotel is set back off of the road, which makes for easy and convenient parking. A simple check in and a cold beer later we were in our brightly decorated room. The room is fine, although I would have like to have had a wardrobe, the balcony/ terrace area overlooking the gardens was really nice, and the shower-room basic but perfectly adequate. Internet was fine, the bed was comfortable and the mini-bar welcoming! Didn't like the low hanging lights by the bed, clunked my head a couple of times. The real stars of the show at the Auangkham are the hosts and to a lesser extent the beautiful, well kept gardens. The whole family here are friendly, interesting, knowledgeable, hard working and thoroughly good people. They endured my two and a half year old son playing vigorously in their well crafted games area with a smile and plenty of encouragement. On the second day at the resort, apart from a brief foray into town to pick up a few essentials and have a look around, we spent all out time at the resort, me drinking beer and eating take out pizza, my wife mulling the meaning of life with various family members and my son enjoying the Lego set and toy cars. In short, a good time was had by one and all. Yes we will return, we have even invited the owners to come and stay at our resort in Sattahip. 8.5 out of 10.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, as they all look out over the gardens. My one Lampang tip is avoid being ripped...

This guesthouse has lovely gardens, clean rooms with terrace, great bikes for loan, and a nice host. It is also (based on our bike ride) in a nicer part of Lampang. If you are happy touring on a bike - strongly recommend spending a few hours biking around - including along a river path just near the guesthouse. One of us bought the 100 baht breakfast, which was average but served on a nice terrace. The other one us bought yoghurt at a nearby store and ate that along with the free coffee and fruit/biscuits. There are not many food options in Lampang overall it seems so we were a bit frustrated trying to find somewhere decent to eat within a short bike ride of the guesthouse. We ended up eating at a nearby bar, which was fine. If I were to return to Lampang, I would certainly stay there again. Best to note the street sign for the hotel is in Thai only. Lampang is quite buggy so be sure to bring your bug spray! It is too bad the guesthouse has no screened area to sit because the gardens really are lovely in the evening but the bugs were quite committed to getting their dinner.

Room Tip: 2nd floor room if you are sensitive to sound of footsteps (though with the AC going it was not a pro...

This guest house is one of a kind in Lampang, nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood near the Wang River, yet accessible to the farang restaurants at the edge of Chinatown. I like this side of the river very much, I feel a quality of relaxed ordinary Lanna life here. Just up the street are fascinating ruins of a 13th century wat (temple) from the Lanna kingdom (Goo Jao Ya Suta), plus a compact working wat (Wat Pratuthonpeung) where one can get a blessed amulet from the monk in residence. Good breakfast, friendly staff, beautiful gardens! I would definitely come back here!

Two friends and I stayed here and loved it.the owner was so helpful.the place was spotless and garden beautiful.it was about 10mins walk into the main streets.found it difficult to find a bar resturant.we eventually found the riverside resturant on the river near the swing bridge which was great.taxis were about 150 baht back to the hotel which the resturant orgsnised.another good resturant was pks cafe around the corner from the hotel.
