“The best way to visit Ang Thong Marine Park...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2010

...is going there relaxed on a sailing boat.
Take in the stunning scenery without the crowds.
Have nice food prepared for you on board three times a day.
Chat with the friendly crew, or read a book, sunbath while sailing.

We did a 3 nights / 4 days sailing trip from Koh Tao to Ang Thong Marine Park.
We took one of the last minute offers. For this we got the smaller of two cabins which is adjacent to the toilet and reached by crossing galley/crew quarters.
This is not super luxury, but you are rewarded with a very special experience away from the crowds.

First and last day were mainly spent sailing/motoring between Koh Tao and the Park. There is a lot of flexibility in scheduling the things to do during the time. We just had to agree with our fellow travellers (and the weather).
We visited a hilltop with a stunning view point (watch out for those sharp rocks), two caves, the Emerald Lake, watched the monkeys (cute), did some snorkelling (visibility not good) and spent an evening on one of the small, remote beaches (very nice!). The skipper also let us steer the boat and explained all we want about sailing.
Food was very nice and plentiful (Cheers, Fabian!). Our request for vegetarian food was nicely accommodated.

Unless you are allergic to looking at pictures from your holiday, DO bring a camera.
Hiking shoes (or at least hiking sandals) are advisable for some of the hikes.
In retrospect, we should have brought some medicine against sea sickness.
Moskitos come to the boat near shore, so the moskito repellent came in handy.

Great experience!

“A beautiful family sailing cruise in the Thai Gulf with German hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2010

During our 3 month round-world-trip in the summer 2008 one of the highlights was the Islandcruises sailingtrip of 5 days from Koh Tao. We didn't know if our kids (7 and 10 yr) would enjoy the sailing on a small boat, but they loved every minute of it. Experienced German captain Alf (who sailed the globe) and chef/shipmate Fabian (who makes lovely meals in a kitchen of 1 m2) sailed us through the islands of Mu Anghton NP. They are both very relaxed and did everything to make us and the kids happy. We went cave-exploring en -climbing (beautiful stalagmites etc), searched for monkeys, climbed a very steep mountain, made campfire on a uninhabited island, build sandcastles on the beach, raced our kids in the zodiac through a bay full of jumping fish and plankton (wich lights the see at night) and played Uno on a very rainy day below deck with a guitarplaying Alf in the background. A anchorbeer, the sound of sails in the wind, steering the wheel, a bath overboard and quite beaches made the experience complete. On the route back to Koh Tao the boat was hit bij 3 thunderstorms which tested the sailingskills of the captain (and our stomaches) and engulfed us and the boat, but by surfing the high waves we arrived safely in Koh Tao. Days later in Japan our kids still missed Fabian, although they didn't understand any of his funny mixture of German and English. A memory of a lifetime and a great first experience with a sailingtrip for our kids !. Thanks Alf and Fabian.

“The best way to see Ang Thong Marine Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2010

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon which included 4 days sailing through the Ang Thong Marine Park. This was the highlight of our trip. Alf (skipper) and Fabien (crew and chef) were the perfect hosts. They know all the hidden spots to take you to, avoiding the tourists who race in and out of the marine park.

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. Fabien puts together the most amazing food, and how he does it in such a small galley I am not sure.

My only tip, if you enjoy the odd after diner drink, e.g. a good single malt whiskey then grab a bottle at duty free on your way to Thailand and take in on the boat. It is great for sitting up late and playing cards with Fabien!

“4 adventure days relaxing in paradise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2010

Would you like to spend 4 days with your other half and two of the best guys you'll ever know, aboard a really nice sailing boat exploring the wonderings of one of the best places in Thailand? It's up to you, but now we're sure we made a wise decision! :)
Alf and Fabien will go all the way to ensure you have the time of your life, perfect to get away from it all and relax in style amongst the best the nature has to offer... BTW: I just wish I could cook like that...

“Such a romantic and relaxing experience - crew was great company also!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2009

My husband, Gavin, and I traveled to Thailand on our honeymoon in June of 2008. We chose to visit Ko Tao, since it was a little off the beaten path and the SCUBA was supposed to be pretty good. We were on the island for a week and went out with Island Cruises one day. To our liking, Alf - our captain and boat owner - was so nice and personable - he has some great stories about traveling the world. He even played the guitar for us! Also, the chef on board (I forget his name) was really good... he made us the best bruschetta I think I've ever had, and this awesome Thai lunch - not to mention constantly having fruit and other snacks ready and waiting for us. We were on the boat for probably about 5 hours, where we toured around the island and took a break in the middle to snorkle. Since it was our honeymoon, Gavin and I asked to have a bottle of champagne on board - which we enjoyed while taking in the sunset. Overall, I found Island Cruises to be very professional and hospitable - they made me feel like a VIP that day!
