The only thing that kept us from giving this a 5 star was because the bungalows, although very beautifully situated in the middle of the jungle (it feels like) and offering the most amazing views of Shark Bay, need to be a little more cared for and better cleaned. There were many cracks in between the floor boards and the earth which meant that lots of creatures can crawl inside, which for us wasn't a problem but for the squeemish it might be, also it seems that even though they service the rooms every day, there isn't much of a big clean going on in the rooms - our bathroom mirror from arrival to departure still carried the same stains from when we checked in and our toilet didn't get a good wash down...... In the most beautiful scenic restaurant in Koh Tao (in our opinion) and with such great food being served, the service isn't so fast or cared for, most of the team members are sitting in the corner playing on their phones looking bored, and when coming to the bar to order things we were sometimes ignored and had to make ourselves known. We stayed there for 3 weeks, during that time we got to know the people working there who are absolutely lovely, and that is why we were so patient - for us the slow service wasn't a problem as we weren't in any kind of rush but for future guests who are only staying there for a night or two or dropping in to eat at the restaurant, it might be frustrating. Just a little tip for the management if possible to be aware of the possibility that they are losing custom......

Room Tip: Room Number 3...... perfect views and not TOO far to walk up and down to from the restaurant.

Stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault it. The chance to swim with the sharks ( best 8am ish) on your doorstep makes this the place to stay. Clean rooms, beautiful sunrise and very helpful friendly staff makes this the place to stay. Hired scooters from an Irish guy about 2 km down the road on left ( forgot the name). No problems or scams would recommend him for hire.

We did not stay here but stopped to have a smoothie and take in the view on our exploration of the island. We were staying on Saiwree beach and decided to rent a motorbike and explore a bit. It was my husbands first time driving a motorcycle so we wanted to do the minimal amount of biking and on paved roads to we stuck to the main road south.
We were told about Freedom beach and Chalok beach.
We saw a sign for freedom beach so we stopped and parked. Then we saw a restaurant with a great view and it was here at New Heaven. So we stopped for a drink. It was overlooking a beautiful bay and had a large outdoor patio with those floor cushions I love so much. The service was slow but we were in no rush and our smoothies were great.
Then we head over to Taa Toh bay through there hotel and hung out on the beach, it was a beautiful beach with a cement walkway along the coast to Freedom beach.
Great day!

We booked New Heaven Resort as a birthday treat for a few days for me whilst we were back packing. The view from the restaurant is amazing and sitting there having a few drinks is a lovely experience.

The room was large with a lovely decking and great view. The rooms were very clean and we even had a hot shower (a luxury in Thailand)

The resort does have a beach but it is very small. It is still pleasant to go down there for some sun and a swim.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful.

We would recommend New Heaven Resort if you want a quiet, relaxing break from it all with superb views.

Decided to stay at New Heaven after finding our prearranged accommodation on Ko Tao rather dire. Our bungalow was tastefully done in concrete (odd as that sounds), clean and with a nice view over Shark Bay at the south end of the island. We had a fun little upstairs nook where we could relax and read a book with a sea view under the thatch roof. The bathroom and shower area have windows opening toward the bay which is nice but tends to attract some bugs. Definitely expect to have a few random bugs in your unit, though that's probably true anywhere on Ko Tao. Our unit had air con and a mosquito net that we didn't need. Getting to the units does require going up and down a number of stairs, which would be difficult for someone with a handicap or carrying more than a few extra pounds.

The restaurant seems popular with both people staying at the resort and people just coming in for a meal. The view is excellent. The food costs a few dollars more and we found it a bit inconsistent - some dishes were great while others were disappointing. Staff is very cordial and helpful though you may need to ask for fresh towels. Complimentary water is provided daily.

One of the best perks of staying here is a small private beach that is part of the resort and gives immediate access to Shark Bay / Thian Og Bay. We enjoyed throwing on our snorkel gear and heading and swimming with black tip reef sharks not 100m off the beach.

Lastly the location is both a plus and a minus. The view and bay are great but you may need wheels if you're planning on diving from Sairee and it's about 10-15 mins walk to convenience stores and restaurants in Chalok Baan Kao. It's up a hill which can make the walk gruelling around 2pm.

Would stay here again.

The bungalow was very nice with an amazing view of shark island. We were in no 7. The bathroom was outside - great view but not practical when it rained or at night when there were lots of mosquitoes + squirrels ate the soap we left outside. The view from the restaurant was spectacular, you can either sit cross-legged on the ground or sit at tables. The food was OK but a little too western. The price was quite high especially since breakfast wasn't included. The private beach is very small and at low tide it is impossible to swim because of the corals at the surface, but at high tide it was very good. There is a lovely beach a few minutes walk away at Freedom Beach. The second beach reached by a concrete walkway is lovely and there is a good restaurant. The snorkelling trip around the island is great fun.
