For the record - and for anyone who has previously stayed at Sunshine Diver Resort - Sunshine Dive Resort is NOT AFFILIATED in any way shape or form with the unpleasant Sunshine Bungalows/Restaurant with whom they share their building with. It is truly unfortunate that this incredibly pleasant and amazing resort has to share space with the Sunshine restaurant - run by some of the most unfriendly, unhelpful, unhappy people we have encountered on our travels throughout Thailand.
Sunshine Dive Resort on the other hand was staffed by incredibly helpful, friendly people. Their PADI instructors (Natalie, the manager, in particular) were amazing! We went to Sunshine on a recommendation from a friend to get our PADI open water scuba diving certification and enjoyed it so much that we stayed for another 4 days to get our PADI advanced open water certification!
Compared to Ban's diving resort (Sunshine Diver's sister school) - the atmosphere is incredible. Sunshine divers is a much more personal experience as the class sizes are limited to a maximum of 4 people and there are never more than 10 people on the dive boat.
I would truly recommend Sunshine Dive Resort to anyone going to Ko Tao, especially if they are going to learn how to scuba dive. They are an amazing resort. We had a fantastic time!
