Decent, but good on Ko Tao

Review of Sensi Paradise
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 21, 2012
Located on a quiet stretch at the end of Mae Haad beach the location is excellent, close to the pier, but not too close. Plenty of decent restaurants, but Mae Haad is rather quiet and if you like it a bit more lively you'll have to take a taxi or scooter to head to Sairee. Resort is nicely laid out, staff is helpful, great pool and nice beach (not enough sunbeds) with nice snorkeling options.
The rooms are quaint, you'll have your own cabin, veranda with fan and great views. The rooms are romantic, dim-lit with squeaky floors. The bathroom is 'outside' and that's something you either like or not. For the price you're paying I would expect a bit more luxury in that area, then again, it does fit with Ko Tao. And yes there are mosquitos, gecko's and other animals, but each cabin has a mosquito net so during your sleep you won't be bothered. You can't go wrong with Sensi, but there are other places with better value for money.

We booked the romantic suite with fan, this cabin is located right above the sea and has its own veranda with stairs leading down to the rocky beach.
The rooms are very beautiful and we enjoyed every minute we were there.
The service is great, the staff very friendly.

A much more luxury option than most on Koh Tao. Great location for Mae Haad, lovely stretch of beach and very attentive staff.

The only downside is that the rooms are a little "rustic". We actually liked it very much as it gave a real feel of Thailand's islands, but with a luxury feel, however if you're looking for a western style hotel then this might not be it.

Personally, I would definitely return!

This is Definitely not the place to stay at if you're scared of Gecko's . We checked into the hotel and everything seemed to be perfect ....they have a very nice sit of area in each cottage but you cannot lie there for more than 10 minutes as you will just be bitten . Way too many mosquito's and this was in the morning .
When we got back to the hotel in the night there was a huge Gecko in our room , we tried calling the hotel reception via our cell phone ( they do not have phones in the rooms ) to get rid of it however no one picked up.
Simply put I'm petrified of lizards/ gecko's and had never seen one so big . In the morning there was another huge Gecko in out bathroom ?? I could not stay there any longer and informed the hotel that we'd like to check out because of the gecko's and then he even tried to offer me a room with supposedly no Gecko's ?? Is your room supposed to come with Gecko's that he offered me a choice??
We checked out and had to pay a certain amount for the next night as well as that is the hotel policy ....we just payed it and left .The hotel staff were very rude on checkout . Had i know about the gecko's would never have stayed there .

We stayed 3 nights in Sensi Paradise. Pick-up from the jetty to check-in was smooth. We stayed in a non a/c room with sea view and a large balcony with a day bed outside. The room was basic wooden hut but clean, the bathroom was basic and clean. The staff service was very good where they come to make up the room in the morning, then they deliver afternoon tea with cookies to the room, and in the afternoon they would come around again to open up the mosquito netting for the bed. We love the day bed at the balcony where we can just nap there the whole afternoon enjoying the sea breeze and view. The swimming pool at Sensi Paradise is huge and nice. The whole resort is kept really clean and neat. If you like to have a sense of back to nature, this is a good place to stay.

They picked us up from the ferry in a taxi, our name was on a board, and it was a complimentary service not ordered by us. The rooms are simple and useful, with a mosquito net over the bed and fresh towels and complimentry water every day. There is a 40 square meter terrace with sofas and a ceiling fan for the evenings, bring mosquito spray!
The restaurant is very nice with local cuisine, they're breakfasts are great with an assortment of French toast, pancakes, eggs bacon, fresh fruit and some Asian dumplings, staff is very friendly and helpful.
There are 2 pools which are beautiful, with great pool side tanning beds and parasols. The pool bar is far from proactive, so don't expect them to come up and ask if you need anything.
We paid 540€ for 3 people for a week including breakfast, great deal! For diving check out Dive Masters just down the road, I reviewed them as well.

Room tip: Ask for one by the pool, we were a bit on the far side.
