“Beautiful resort with attentive staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

We stayed at the resort for one night as a birthday treat (break from 6 weeks travelling)! Despite us turning up with ruck sacks and looking a little out of place - the staff still treated us like royalty. The room was out of this world, the food in the restaurant was amazing, the treatments were super relaxing and the service excellent. The manager made sure that our stay was special and gave us some little keep sakes to remember them by. I perfect retreat.

Just dont come if you are averse to stairs! Great boutique hotel with fab design. Book a pavilion room for better location. Well situated and with beautiful views. Food is really good except perhaps breakfast which is limited and not to the same std. Service is correct but not great.

This is our second visit to jamahkiri, breathtaking views spectacular snorkelling on he doorstep, relaxation at its best. William is doing an amazing job here, all the staff are excellent, yes there are lots of steps that's because it's on a massive rock that supply's us with the views and lovely sunsets from the roof top bar.we went on hotel boat trip around the island this time snorkelling in some of the best dives in the world , check out the reef sharks next door on shark island after four in the afternoon or just enjoy the beautiful fish in the bay.
We will definatley be back again

It's the perfect location to take that romantic or relaxing holiday! Seamlessly incorporated into nature, it has spectacular sea-views. The rooms are spacious, meticulous, tastefully decorated. The resort offers fantastic diving excursions, while snorkelling is possible just in front of the hotel with a vast variety of marine life, including reef sharks. Kayaks are also available. To get to the adjacent beach, a boat service is available free of charge to guests. The beach is clean and frankly divine. The resort's spa is an oasis of tranquility, with professional staff offering an assortment of treatments. I recomment the Thai massage. There are two restaurants on the property, both of which are nice. The food is good, but this is the only short-coming of the hotel - the food is unfortunately not amazing. Stick to local dishes if you do, but you can always go to dinner in town with a free shuttle service provided by the hotel. The return can be organised in town with numerous taxi services on such night outings. If business cannot be completely ignored, a deliciously cool business centre is available next to the wine cellar. The staff is fantastic and will cater to all your needs, in particular William, the manager, is an absolute gem.

Room Tip: The bungalows are private and spacious, but there are many stairs to conquer when going up to recept...

We spent 3 nights there.
The whole resort looks like an architectural artwork; just amazing. Everything is integrated into surrounding nature.
Just jump into the water and you will see sharks (friendly ones), coral reefs and all kind of colorful fishes.
All rooms have amazing sea view and are nice furnished. TV receives vide range of channels, own DVD rental, free water, tea and coffee a balcony and a comfortable bed.
Service was very helpful, friendly and always had that pretty "Thai smile".
Breakfast with sea view as everywhere including everything you wish.
Free shuttle bus to the village and pier (3 times a day), for shopping and getting food (Cafe del Sol for take away food just next to shuttle stop)
Free WiFi
Snorkeling equipment to rent, own diving courses and day trips.
Shuttle boat to the nice beach next by (2 minutes).

It was a pitty we only staied three days. Next time we will stay for at least two weeks! It was just perfect but as I mentioned not cheap. However it 100% worth it!

Stayed here for 4 nights a few Aprils ago. This really is a beautiful hotel, the grounds are well kept and the location is stunning. The dirt track up to the hotel is a real challenge, some of the path had been washed away when I stayed here and some of it was hair raising. I saw one of the locals take a nasty fall from their motorbike on the way in. On arrival though things are very different, checkin was smooth and the room was very nice. The view over Shark Bay is one of the best... Ate in the restaurant a few times and the food was nice (along with the amazing view), very expensive for what it is but still nice, I like a glass of wine or 2 with dinner and to be honest the wine was out of this world expensive, when it turned up I thought it must be a joke as the wine wasn't very nice at all, stick to the cocktails or beer!... Went to the Spa once and had a Swedish Massage which was very good. Spent a lot of time snorkelling around the bay, sometimes for hours as I had been told where I could see Sharks but unfotunately I didn't see any. Some of the coral is still alive and is nice to see but unfortunately a lot of it is dead which is the story around a lot of Koh Tao these days, real shame.... One thing worth noting is - You have to be quite fit if you are staying here as there are a lot of steps! I think I counted over 150 getting down to the sea, ok on the way down but not so fun on the way up. I didn't mind the excersice but if you are a bit out of shape you might struggle! The staff here are very good, friendly and helpful. They do a good job keeping the place immaculate.

Overall I really enjoyed it here, even if it's just for the views and the rooms. I didn't go to Koh Tao to find 5 star luxury resorts, but nearly found one here. Jamahkiri is probably as close as you are going to get to a 5 star resort on Koh Tao and they have done a good job with the hotel. The food could be better for the money but apart from that it's a good shout for a bit of luxury and peace and quiet during your stay on Koh Tao.

What can I say about this place except that near perfection has been achieved. This is the most beautiful resort you will ever find. There are stairs, yes. If this bothers you, request a room closer to the pool. And you may experience mix ups at reception - keep a smile on your face and remember you are in Thailand and English is not a first language here. If this bothers you, stay home. Apart from this, the views are spectacular, the rooms are stunningly decorated and so clean, the facilities are excellent, the chef cooks up beautiful Thai meals and the service across the restaurant and all other facilities is so friendly and helpful that you'll never want to leave. Thank you Tim for the most beautiful Thai massage ever and thank you to ALL the restaurant staff for your beautiful service and for looking after us like royalty. Above and beyond the usual high standard of Thai service. Highly recommend 3hr spa package - spa treatments and meals are very reasonably priced. Thai meal + 2 drinks sets you back around 1000-1500 baht. You simply must stay here and if you don't leave here feeling relaxed then you have big problems!! Also very easy to get in to town with free shuttle buses - difficult timing to stay in town for dinner but you won't want to once you get here. Good snorkelling right from bottom of stairs and out to bay - the reef is regenerating and the fish are pretty special. And a special mention of the gardens in this place - so perfect with beautiful flowers and lots of little hidey spots. Now quit looking at pictures or you'll spoil the surprise for yourself! be sure to book a villa. A honeymoon we will never forget :)
