“Yes, all you snobs get over yourselves - it is on an island”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

This island is trying to be sustainable, only ruined by tourists who live in a zombie consumer world. It is a wild climate, with all sorts of bugs. If you are not prepared then stay at home. It is excellent value for money if you want to dive, walk/trek, peace and quiet. Not for families, especially those who cannot entertain themselves and appreciate landscape.

Yes the staff are a bit short, but it is hardly a surprise with the guests they have.

They are extremely efficient in reception, and the housekeeping staff are lovely. There is a nice guy (Chokai) in the massage area who can provide you with his home made coconut balm which is a god send for sunburn, and he had a red tree balm which cures insect bites in 24 hours.

This is a quiet haven for those who have time to explore the rest of the island, and the main shopping/restaurant area is only a taxi ride away.

I don't recommend hiring a scooter unless you are experienced and wear a helmet. I heard there were 11 deaths in one week due to scooter accidents and the varied terrain. The heat makes the roads more slippery too. Although Buddha view are pretty good to hire from, and were honest enough to say not to hire the quad either as they can be more dangerous than a scooter if not on flat terrain.

Don't walk alone at night, many tourists out after the Castle party etc (a castle themed bar on a rural route), be prepared to pay 200-400 baht for a taxi per person all the time.

Back to the resort, food not much to shout about but hey ten mins walk and you have so many cafes etc. The rooms are not luxurious, especially the shower rooms, but be grateful, most locals don't even have that. If you walk around you will see whole familes living in shacks without walls.

Oh also, wi-fi everywhere, but difficult to use regular phone to call out internationally due to limited power system, so peace is certainly available.

This is NOT Disneyland, but if that is your idea of paradise, don't bother coming.

Diving, Yoga, good food, walking, secret view points, abandoned hotels- think famous five! (Enid Blyton)

I loved this place.

Room Tip: check for access/views etc - who needs a view when you should be exploring? take a battery fan, buy...

Very unpolite and rude staff, insects in the bungalow, even holes in the towels, electricity not working properly!!! Couldn't stay there, but didn't get back any money - very very unfriendly guy at the reception!! Just horrible, don't go there!!!

We chose this resort because I was diving with an outfit nearby and they recommended it as the more "posh" option because it had air conditioning. We saw our room before agreeing to take it. It was basic but appeared clean. The hotel picked us up from our 1st hotel on a different part of he island which was very convenient. We checked in uneventfully. My wife enjoyed the pool which was quite nice. The grounds were overall quite nice. She did notice a dead mouse adjacent to the pool area which remained the entire day. Employees must have walked past it at least 20 times. We had dinner at the hotels restaurant on the pier that night and the restaurant staff was very friendly and food was quite good. A very nice spot to eat. That night we went into our room and all seemed fine. At some point during the night the air conditioning went out and it became very hot. It was actually cooler outside then in the room in the morning when we got up. We did hear some critters scrambling through the walls as well. The bathroom was clean but there was absolutely no water pressure. Water was hot though. We left thinking maybe the air con would be working when we returned or we would notify maintenance. We returned after a long day hiking on the island and had no luck with the air con so we notified maintenance and the front desk staff. They came out and agreed the air con was not working. They moved us to another room. This room had some mouse droppings in areas and some ants on the counter tops. We were exhausted and the air con was working so we figured we could live with it for a night. This room was also slightly cheaper at 1400 Thb vs 1500. We got absolutely zero sleep in the room that night. There was a rodent chewing a plastic bottle in the walls all night long. We constantly found ourselves jumping out of bed wondering if the rodents were actually in our room. We should have immediately requested another room but are not generally complainers. After a very restless night we complained at the front desk the next morning. The receptionist was very adamant that we should have immediately let them know and asked for another room and didn't seem to understand that both issues occurred late at night when we were in bed trying to get some rest. With some hesitance they agreed to drop the price of the room the second night to 1000thb. They did not deliver a clean hospitable room. I can not recommend staying here. While the pool and grounds are lovely the hotel is dirty and dated and you will have animals crawling through your walls all night!

Room Tip: Sounds lie, the paradise area rooms are much nicer and the rooms on the beach with big glass doors l...

We stayed 7 days at Paradise View of Ko Tao Resort, where the staff are great and always keen to help. The food was so tasty and in huge portions! The double bed in our room was not so much of a double bed... too small... In general, the room was decent and with great mountain and sea view the same time.

Room Tip: Paradise View is more expensive than the bungalows by the beach... It does worth it!

The bed was actually comfortable but its FREAKING HOT INSIDE. I actually thought the weather would be okay so staying in a fan room was okay but NO. I stayed in the dive dorms and good thing I opted for a license in diving so they waived my charges for the room.

Ergo, if you want to dive, dont choose the dive dorms. Go for the airconditioned rooms which I bet are expensive. But if you dont want to dive, stay somewhere else. I swear. The very reason I gave them 3 as overall rating was because their diving is really really really awesome.

Loved the location of this hotel the view was breathtaking . We went with a group of friends , stayed in a suit it was comfortable. The staff was not very helpful but overall I would 100% stay there again . It's within walking distance from some good street food but a solid cab ride from the bars where everyone goes out .

Positive; They had upgraded our room, so we got a lot of space.

Negative; We payed for wifi but didnt get that.
The staff does not know how to smile.
And arent willing to help us in any way, so we are just not feeling welcome.

Its a good thing we only booked one night.
