“Koh Tao means Great diving”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

With a huge amount of dive sites within easy reach, Koh Tao offers some of the most versatile diving in the world. There are better dive sites in the world, for sure, but the versatility of diving on Koh Tao means that - no matter the weather and time of year - the dive centers can offers good or great diving. My own favourite dive site is Chumporn, but also this dive site changes with the seasons and the weather: it can be anything from decent to absolutely one of the best dive sites in the world.
Koh Tao also offers periodic opportunities to see Whale Sharks, Tiger Sharks - and turtles are quite common in general. What I think is special about Koh Tao compared to other diving islands is the amount or rather the dense concentration of fish life and corals on many of the dive sites.

“Whalesharks and great wreck dive”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

Had a chance to do an afternoon dive with a whaleshark at chumphon pinnacle followed by good visibility at the navy wreck close to nang yuan island. Great dive spot, especially for beginners !!!

I did the open water and advanced course with Goodtime adventures and loved every day of it. Linzi Trafford my instructor was superb in every way. Small groups, personal attention, perfect for first timers.

“good diving but not the best for advanced divers”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Diving in Koh Tao is a real industry... many centers, big boats but only few dive sites.
It is extremely cheap to dive there (paid 4300 baths for 6 dives).
We are advanced divers and made 9 dives in Koh Tao.
Most of sites are very easy and then in some of them they were much too many divers everywhere.
Diving in Malaysia and Indonesia is better regarding these points.
There are 2 sites that are above the others: chumpong pinnacle and Sail rock.
To go to Sail rock, you will need to book a full day trip but this is the best. Great diving, great visibility, many fish skools everywhere and not too many divers.

We dived with Sairee Cottage diving. Good staff, good equipment (not new but ok) and good safety. I recommend the center.

“Beautifull but too crowded”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Diving is popular in Koh Tao. But that leads to very crowded dive sites. Under water traffic lights are needed to koop the divers from colliding.
