“Worth the trek”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We stayed here in the frangipani bungalow for 3 nights at the end of our trip. The resort is on south side with amazing views over the ocean. The hosts, Rose and Libor, really set this place apart from anywhere else we stayed on the trip thanks to their great, warm manner.

Our room was very clean and comfortable with access to 2 terraces, a hammock, a mini bar and an outdoor shower. The terraces both have great views over the ocean and are very peaceful. There are only 4 rooms at the resort so even if it is full it still feels very private. The minibar is stocked with a selection of drinks that are the same prices as the 7-Eleven and you can opt to have whatever mix you require. The shower was quite low pressure due to the resort using rainwater on a gravity system but as the water is a precious resource in Koh Tao then this shouldn't be a problem.

Breakfast is served each morning for 250B per person. The crepes were particularly good and the fresh fruit, toast and coffee are all delicious. In fairness I found the evening meal option at 600B per person excluding drinks to be quite an expensive option compared to the local alternatives (you should be comparing to the local prices rather than working out in your home currency). The food is prepared to your individual tastes and was very tasty but I think if you are opting for a vegetarian meal then it should be a little cheaper. The Eagle view restaurant nearby is very good, just make sure you take a torch so you can find your way back afterwards.

It should be noted that if you want a relaxing, secluded place then this is excellent but if you want to be able to go out in the evening then you may find the location a little difficult. For what we wanted, it was perfect.

The 2 beaches are easy to get to, unless you have some problem walking up and down steep hills. It takes around 10 minutes to walk up at our pace but as Rose reminded us, what's the rush - you're on holiday! Shark bay is great for snorkelling and there are plenty of trees on the beach to offer that all important shade. The other beach has a nice bar/restaurant on it.

As others have said, ask Libor to sort the cab out for you.

A secluded hilltop resort on the south side of the island with a beautiful view and very clean and spacious bungalows that have a traditional style to them. I actually knew the site on which the resort stands before any work was undertaken and the result Rose and Libor created is breathtaking. Rose and Libor were brilliant hosts every time I stayed there ( which by the way I have for the last 3 or 4 years straight ) they were most helpful and always did so with bright smiles. The food is tip top and there is no calmer resort on Koh Tao. I recommend it for anyone and especially for families or couples looking for a romantic calm getaway, like I did.

As for access, it is true that most taxies will refuse to bring you up there but there are two ways around that: Ask Libor to arrange a taxi which he will happily do ( and for a fraction of the price that the drivers charge you at the docks ) or have some backbone and tell the taxi driver he will not be paid if he does not complete the journey, they are not dangerous people...

Apart from that only issue I give Bohemia Resort

10/10.

I really don't know what made others write bad about this place. We stayed at Bohemia with our 1 yr old son for a few nights and had an amazing time. Yes it is secluded which is great as Koh Tao doesn't offer many of those spots anymore. Libor and Rose are excellent hosts, doing everything they possibly can to make you feel at home. The bungalows are kind of basic but clean and spacious. The food we were served was to die for and it is 3 course dinner for 12.50 Euro so what's all the fuzz from others about that it is too expensive???

We would not hesitate a single moment to stay here again and let us be treated by such impeccable hosts and enjoy the beautiful environment. Do not pay attention to the bad reviews as we cannot imagine that Libor and Rose are even close to being rude. Contrary, they are amazing hosts.

My wife and I have been travelling to Koh Tao for the last few seasons, and ever since we came across Bohemia Resort we make a plan every year to holiday here. Rose and Libor are the most hospitable hosts, with a great sense of humour and a great wisdom of the island, having lived there for many years.
Reading some of the other posts on this site, I feel very sad for Bohemia. It seems the people who visited Bohemia with not so good experiences may have visited another resort by the same name, but my wife cannot believe that it was Libor and Rose' lovely place. We found the food to be fantastic, as the couple cooked for us with fresh ingredients from the island. We find that staying at Bohemia and eating there is a very cost friendly holiday. Also, please keep in mind that Bohemia prides itself as an Eco resort. If you, like my wife and I, love the environment, a relaxed atmosphere and a most amazing view of the Gulf of Siam, then Bohemia Resort is just the place.

Room Tip: The bungalows are very peaceful and tidy.

It has been a year since we have been there, but we still do not have enough words for Bohemia resort! Before coming to Koh Tao island, we have made an exhaustive search on the internet among the various resorts available. And finally, Bohemia Resort was the best choice we have made on the whole holiday in Thailand !!! They have several romantic challets with wonderful seaview in a quiet place and encompassed by nature. The challets are very clean and newly reconstructed. The place is not directly at the coast but rather at the hill, but every morning on the crossing u had choice of two beaches:) One for snorcheling and eating, the other one for bathing. When we returned in the evening from the beach, tired from swimming, sun and watching the sea bottom, Libor and Rose always cooked a really delicious dinner of at least three courses for us. It was rather international cousine as they collected receipts from all over the world while traveling before finding their dreamed place for living in Koh Tao. And, as they were saying, for Thai food u can go anywhere else. Apart from that, we had nice talks about their traveling and living in Thailand with them. And they were always very friendly and helpful. We were afraid of going there in September, but the weather was great for bathing - hot and sunny, with couple of storms only during night. The place was just great and this was proved by several of our friends who visited the place on our recommendation later on this summer :) Thank you once more Rose and Libor! Lenka & Tom
PS: For easier and cheaper arrival to the resort, its better arrange the taxi through Libor.
