Sooo I've been in the North and Central Thailand with my boyfriend for about 3-4 weeks before we finally started moving south.....And after 17 hours of traveling ...we finally get to Koh Tao....walk off the boat...push through tuk tuks....and find a cute coffee joint with wifi...yay !

And behold! Real fresh baked bread! Not just breads, baguettes, croissants bagels! Omg!, all from a true French cuisine chef and baker....:D

Yes the place is a bit more expensive...but you're eating fresh breads, and real cheeses, and other delicious specialty items that are being shipped and are not cheap to begin with!

We live on am Island back home...we understand! And we were super excited about our food...sure service wasn't the speediest...big deal! Chill out! Grab a cup of coffee and a fresh hazelnut brownie and relax! ;)

The owner shook hands with us, offered us some tips, and made our experience great! Such a sweet guy, and a very passionate foodie......:p

Totally recommend...especially if you've been craving some serious western breakfast! I'd even say its better than a lot of places back home too! And we will totally go there again, once we are in Koh Tao in a few weeks...~<3

i used to go here quite a lot.
well they have 2 actually. one in mae haad and one in chalok.
i mostly went to mae haad and only went to the chalok one once.
the muesli bana shake is a good and quick option if your in a hurry. i would quite often get that.
I did however have a few breakfasts there. wasn't that great unfortunately. was all a bit dry. but it wasn't that bad as well. it was edible.
the croissants are ok.
the service... well there is 1 chick in there. she may be thai but she looks a bit different to your average thai... she is really smiley and freindly and always a pleasant face to see in the morning. apart from her the rest are your average thai and burmese.
the time that i went to the chalok branch i just walked in and asked if i could get a bacon and egg sandwich. they seemed a bit dicombobulated from my question. she hesitantly said yes. I got the feeling she had no idea what i wanted. Anyway I got it in the end but it was a cold sliced boiled egg. hmm.
mae haad definately better.
one other thing.. they really push the french pate as being so special. i love pate but i can't try this. i would advise them to portion it into serves. it looks like some sort of science experiment in that big jar in the display fridge. not appealing at all.
as for the person that complained it is next to a dusty road. so what?? i don't understand people like this. it is not the businesses fault that the roads in koh tao are all like this. this is one of the main roads in koh tao and there are about 100 other businesses on the same road. get over it. go and live inside a bubble or something if sitting 10 metres away from a concrete road with a little dust on it is too much for you to handle.
overall this place isn't bad but is nothing special either.
oh one more thing i think they have a coffee machine so theres a chance the coffee is the real deal. i havn't tried it though

We wanted a fulfilling breakfast and were drawned in by the fresh, crispy looking croissant. We ordered one, asked if it could be warmed in the oven! You want to know what they did?! (Of course you do!) They warmed it up in the freaking microwave!!!!! YA! A french baker would NEVER ever do that, but I guess thai have a different way of looking at croissant! (I asked for butter and jam, they charged 10B for it)
Cafés are surely good, « basic breakfast » are ok, but a bit pricy, 150B for 2 eggs, 2sausages (very good), baked beans, soft baguette, butter/jam and cappuccino. But you know, it’s french, so yes it is always a bit pricier than Thai local food! Sometimes you do miss your croissant and fresh crispy bread so you go for it!
Apparently the baguette sandwich are really good…
Bon appétit!
