“WOW!!”

We stayed in the villa of the million stars in august as part of our island hopping trip. We stayed 4 nights. This ibiza style vila is amazing! It gives you loads of luxery and a great place to stay on a great island! The place is so great that we dreaded it that we had to leave. Amazing decoration, great beds and showers, top notch pool. What else do you want then to watch the stars and the light from sairee beach from your own private villa. Def pick for your stay in koh tao!

Group of 2 couples stayed at the Villa of the Full Moon at the end of July. This place was simply stunning. As metioned before the first time going up the hill in the taxi is a bit daunting but its a lot easier on the quads! We loved every minute of our stay, the place is beautiful, the views are fantastic, and christina was extremely helpful right up to and after our stay!

Look at the website! everything you need is on there and Christina will answer any questions you have! Then just BOOK IT!! you will not regret it!! Wish we could of stayed here a lot longer! definately my idea of Paradise!

My husband and I recently went to Koh Tao and staying at the Villa of A Million Stars for part of our honeymoon. The villa is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures!
When we arrived we were a little nervous about going up and down the hill in our quad. The first trip down in the dark was a little nerve wracking (I spent most of the ride down with my eyes closed) but after the first day we were pros at driving the quad and had no problems!
There were no bugs in our villa (only a few tiny geccos on the walls) and the AC in our room kept us nice and cool at night.
The view from the balcony was amazing!
Thanks Chris for helping us with our planning!

Room Tip: I think all of the rooms have amazing views. All rooms except for one (I belive the moon villa) req...

Thanks for your review! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your honeymoon while you were here on Koh Tao.
I appreciate your comments that the access to our villas up the hillside can at first be a little intimidating. The paved road does wind up the hill, but once you have done it a few times on a quad or bike it is quite easy.
Yes, all our villas do have great views over Sairee, the open ocean and sister island Koh Nangyuan. And you are right - the parking for the Villa of the Full Moon is directly outside the door, however the other villas involve a moderate flight of stairs from the parking to the doorstep.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Best wishes,
Chris.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Villa of the Full Moon in July for 5 nights and had a dream of a time.

The Villa is decked out for comfort with everything you need. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable, lots of bath and beach towels, large flat-screen TV for lazy entertainment and the big daybed is pure heaven!

The views are spectacular and possibly the best on Koh Tao. Of course with views like this you are elevated so you have to venture up a hill to access the villas. As the owners recommend, you need to hire a bike or quad to get around the island and also to get to the villas. The road going up the hill to the villas is paved and a tiny bit winding in places, but nothing we couldn't manage. We rented a quad for our stay and had lots of fun with it exploring all the little beaches and hidden jungles on the island.

Of course Koh Tao itself is still pretty undeveloped. It is only an island for those who are prepared to make an effort and have an adventure. So being able to come back to your gorgeous villa at the end of the day after an island escapade was like having your cake and eating it too! Of course you also don't have to even leave the villa if you don't want to - the first few days we simply stocked our fridge from the local supermarket and stayed in as we both wanted to relax in the sun, read books and watch some movies.

It was the best of both worlds. And being a villa vacation rental, this also meant we didn't have any housekeeping coming to knock on the door to annoy us - we had our privacy. The owner did offer a cleaning service mid-way during our stay, but we declined, as we didn't need it.

Our stay was just fabulous! If people are after adventure and luxury on Koh Tao, then you can't get better than the villas at Casas del Sol.

Highly recommend!

Thanks for your review!
Yes, so true what you say - Koh Tao is still quite undeveloped, so any future guests should research very carefully about our little island. Road conditions can vary all year round, and the general infrastructure is not as developed like in Europe or other parts of the world. But people come here for the nature and for the fun activities it has to offer. Those who want to lie by a swimming pool with room service and never leave the front doors of a resort should not venture to Koh Tao but would be better off on the more over-developed islands - Koh Tao is for the adventurous traveler only!
We hope to see you back again - great that you enjoyed everything.
Best wishes,
Chris.

I could not say enough great things about the beautiful villas of www.kohtaocasas.com We stayed with a group of friends taking up two of the two bedroom villas. The villas are all white clean lines, polished concrete and visually stunning, each with their one offers a different perspective of the island. Set up on the hill side the sunsets on the magical island of Koh Tao are only exacerbated by the fabulous villa views which were completely unobstructed.
The staff are friendliest people I have ever come across, nothing is too much of a hassle. The villa’s are newly developed and run and owned by Westerns who have managed to create a little bit of heaven without turning it into something so modern it wouldn’t fit it in. We explored the island extensively and these are by far the best villas, they are fully self contained with plasma TV’s and videos and plenty of cooking facilities, you could actually spend your entire day in your villa.
The balcony’s are by far the stand out with drop pools and deck chairs…. They have thought of most things…
Koh Tao is traditionally a diving island whilst it has a definite back packer element our group was all in their 30s and none of us were there for diving. I would urge people to look at the location and remember you are on an island in Thailand, if you expect 5 star accommodation, facilities and services then you may be a little disappointed, sometimes the power goes off on the whole island that is just a way of life, that said if you just relax have a wine and soak up the sunset you should be ok!
A couple of things to remember is there are few cars in Koh Tao so most people ride motor bikes of quad bikes which are easy to hire. I would not really recommend these villas to people with Children, they are aesthetically stunning but building regulations in Thailand mean you don’t have to have gates and fences as you may be accustomed too. Please note adults are fine!
Would highly recommend Koh Tao was such a wonderful trip and wouldn’t even think of staying anywhere else. Big Thank you to the staff!

Room Tip: they are all individual ask Christina and look on the web site.

Thanks for your review and thoughts! Great to know you had a great time and enjoyed our villas.
As you point out, Koh Tao is for the more adventurous traveler! Koh Tao is a tropical island with tropical wildlife and raw natural jungle. Our island is far less developed than other destinations like Koh Samui and Phuket, but this is what gives the island its charm and natural beauty. This means that road conditions all over the Koh Tao can vary year round and that the general infrastructure is not fully developed. As you point out, this is simply the way of life on a natural island in Thailand and travelers come to embrace this. I always recommend to all guests that they have researched Koh Tao well before they decide to visit. Casas del Sol simply aims to offer a little corner of luxury within a natural tropical island environment.
We also agree with your comments in regards to young children. Although we have had some families with young children stay with us before with no problems, we always ensure that parents are well aware of the design of the villas. We actually don't recommend that very small children stay with us on our website. However it all depends on the nature of the children and the comfort of the parents.
Thanks again for your comments.
We look forward to your return!
Chris.

We are just about to leave Koh Tao this afternoon and we are crying!! We don't want to leave this magical place and we definitely don't want to leave our villa! We are a group of friends, one couple and two singles who stayed at the divine Villa of the Rising Sun for 10 days and absolutely fell in love with everything about it!! We woke every morning to the most sensational views in Koh Tao and in the sexiest villa here for sure!

So much thought and detail had been put into making sure our stay was perfect such as all the essentials we needed, cozy beds, ginormous lounge day-bed, beach and bath towels, through to little scented candles and much more.

People should be aware that this is a villa rental only, so people shouldn't expect resort service, which is pretty obvious on the website anyway I must say. But the service was exactly what we wanted - we wanted pure privacy, which we got, but when we had one little problem of the gas tank for the stove that had run out of gas in the kitchen, we called the staff (the lovely owners), who live on-site and they sent someone immediately to replace it. So we had our privacy yet we definitely never felt alone. Housekeeping cleaned the villa and replaced all the bedding and towels once during our stay which was enough, and more than you would expect for a holiday rental anyway. Also on arrival we were greeted by Christina who showed us the villa and she gave us heaps of local info that we needed, and she made sure our departure was all organized too.

The cons? - None, only that we have to leave today!! The pros? - the gorgeous stunning views, the gigantic open space of the villa, the swimming pool on the terrace, the wicked style of the villa, the location... I could go on and on! I only wish I could live in a house like this - simply my dream beach house!!!

We're already planning our return!

Thanks for your great thoughts! We love to hear back from more happy guests.
I appreciate that you point out in your review that we are villa rental only, so we are not a resort and so we don't have a reception nor do we offer any concierge / resort services. However we do have on-site staff ready to help with any problems or emergencies at any time needed, so you are not alone, as you pointed out.
We look forward to have you back!

Stayed in million stars villa for 30 days and here is what i liked and not liked...

Good: one of the best views on island, nicely designed spacy villa. Big tv with lots of channels and great kitchenarea properly geared.

Bad: so much large ants in sofa i barely used it, many stairs up to the house its like an astmaattack every time i went home, big spiders in bed, spotlight in bathroom exploded and started smoking, some spotlights was halfworking and was never fixed, cleaning one time a week is not enough as it gets dirty and to much ants every 2-3 day, pool also runs low on water every 2-3 day, front door just opened half way, one the owner complayned about use of electricity and this is not what i want to hear at this price it should be up to me.

I would recomend this for couples travelin in pairs or family with big kids, not small because hazardous stairs and outside area. Also its far from restaurants/nightlife/beach so a quad, dirtbike or scooter (not safe if you ask me) is a must have.

While we readily accept 'subjective' reviews about our property, we also hope that future guests reading these posts will have due discretion that these reviews are highly subjective and in some cases contain inaccurate information. Therefore, I would like to respond to your comments made about our property.

Firstly, the claim that one of the owners "complained about use of electricity" is untrue, as none of the owners at Casas del Sol would ever nor have ever made such a "complaint". We do however print in our Guest Information Folder the following - "Koh Tao Environment - Koh Tao is a small beautiful island with very limited resources and an increasing population. Please consider our environment when using water and electricity by turning off all lights, air-conditioning units and water when not in use." It is simply up to the guest how he/she chooses to interpret this statement, just as it is up to the guest how he/she chooses to consider Koh Tao's environment.

In regards to the functioning of lights inside and outside the house - the villas are checked by maintenance staff who look for lights to be replaced, any damage to the villa or problems with the villa. This maintenance check is done either directly before a new reservation or once per week. Any problems are fixed immediately. Customers also have contact numbers of Western staff who live on site in case of any problems or emergencies.

In regards to the claim of "much large ants in sofa" and that "cleaning one time a week is not enough as it gets dirty". Ants only come inside the villas when guests have been very dirty and left food products out across the sofa and the tables. Casas del Sol are self-catered villas, which means the villas come with all essentials, as well as a well-stocked kitchen that includes any cleaning products and equipment that you might require during your stay. We provide weekly housekeeping services as an extra comfort for our guests and for the ongoing preservation of our villas. So, how an individual chooses to live in between weekly housekeeping appointments is entirely their choice. If they choose to live in a dirty manner or a clean manner it is no reflection on the cleaning services that we provide, however can only be a reflection on how that individual chooses to live.

Travellers who require daily housekeeping services and thus have less privacy, should consider staying at a resort and not a self-catered villa. We inform all our future guests on our website and in email correspondence what we exactly offer; however the final choice of style of accommodation is simply up to the traveller themselves.

As for "big spiders in bed" - Koh Tao is a tropical island in Thailand and so spiders are seen on Koh Tao, but very rarely, on average about one in every 2-3 months inside or outside the villa. Koh Tao is obviously a very natural environmental setting and guests like to leave the terrace doors and windows open for the cooler hillside breeze, thus it is possible that some 'wildlife' might come inside. This is simply a normal characteristic of living on a beautiful tropical island like Koh Tao.

In regards to "pool also runs low on water every 2-3 day" - It is actually impossible for our pools to run low on water as they have automatic pool cleaning units that require that the pool is at constant full capacity.

"many stairs up to the house its like an astmaattack" - Some of our villas have parking directly outside of their villa door, and some villas require walking up a moderate flight of stairs. People visit Koh Tao to scuba dive, snorkel, relax on the beaches, swim, have massages, do yoga, go out and party, rock-climb, freedive - all sorts of fun activities, which all involve some form of physical movement, whether small or big. If you do have any authentic medical asthma related conditions that prevents you from walking up a moderate flight of stairs I would recommend that you consider whether Koh Tao is a good choice of destination for you or not.

In regards to the "front door just opened half way" - slightly perplexed, as all our villa doors have always opened all the way.

Finally, access to our villas is detailed on our website and thoroughly explained in all email correspondence with future guests. We do recommend that guests hire a bike or quad-bike when staying with us for ease of access to the villas and in order to explore Koh Tao. We also provide a number of a reliable taxi service however we do explain that this is a more expensive option than hiring your own bike or quad. On a bike or quad-bike the villas are only 5 minutes from the main town of Sairee, which is not considered "far" by the guests we have had staying with us.

In responding to this review, I hope that future guests are able to be more discerning of 'subjective' reviews and can appreciate that we aim to run a smooth operation to ensure that all future guests are well informed and have a full understanding of what it is that we offer.
