The views from our room, the restaurant and the pool are amazing. It was everything I hoped for and more. The view gets 5 stars. Our room was nice but the ac had trouble keeping the room cold. We told the front desk who fixed it. It was better the second day but still not verycold.
The bathroom had a strong sulphur smell to it so we kept the door closed at all times. We also found ants, spiders, and a few large bugs in our room. I know it's Thailand but for 6,000baht/night I was hoping for no bugs. It's nice to have a safe in the room, but it was not attached to anything so we weren't able to use it (someone could literally walk away with the whole safe). The breakfast was good and the shuttle is a nice touch. We were hoping to go into town for dinner, but the shuttle didn't work with the dinner times at the restaurant and a cab would of been 600baht round trip so we stayed in and ordered room service. Food at the restaurant was good but it took 1.5 hours to receive our food.
Also, we ran into two different couples in the lobby who had booked their rooms directly from the Aminjirah website. The hotel double booked them and wouldn't let the couple have their rooms, even though they were here before the other couple. They were told that their reservations were cancelled, refunded, and that there was nothing the hotel could do. Preference was apparently given to the people who booked through third party sites. I would recommend everyone to book through a third party so this doesn't happen to you.
Check out is 11am. At 10:58 we got a knock at the door. The employee stood in the room and watched us as we packed up our last few belongings. It was very awkward. There's only 17 rooms and checkin is 3 hours later, you'd think that a few minutes wouldn't be a big deal. This wasn't a huge deal for us but just came off a little rude.
Overall I would stay here again.

Dear Stacey

Thank you taking your time to write a review and for the constructive feedback. I will get my staff to look into the safe issue immediately and the other issues you mention. Bugs of any kind are unfortunately hard to avoid on Koh Tao and anywhere in the tropics really.

It is unfortunately true that we have had several instances of being overbooked during August. It is something that I am not proud of and that we are working hard to avoid having happen again. I fully expect to get a few more reviews mentioning this and it is deserved if we do. It should not happen period and we have done our best to find the best solution to each individual overbooking. However, I would like to stress that no preference has been given to any particular booking channel. Whether the booking was made on a third party site (as yours was) or direct had no influence. If such was the case, why would we not put preference only to our website as we would avoid paying a hefty commission to third party agents? No, booking directly is always the best option - but we treat all guests equal.

We have been very busy this August and that is the only reason, that house keeping staff may have come off a bit rude. It is not something they have been trained to do although check out is indeed 11 am, it is not something I have heard have happened before or seen myself. Thus it will certainly be discussed with staff. Still, I hope you do understand the necessity in peak season, for punctuality with check out as otherwise it it makes it hard for us to ensure check in on time for the next guests. FYI we actually have 23 rooms and not 17.

Finally, I just want to clarify that you did not pay 6000 THB per night. In fact we were paid about 7300 THB total by your booking agent and they would have taken 15% on top, so total it was closer to 4000 THB per night. That is not meant as an excuse, but it is very different price if your review was based on having paid 6000 THB per night.

We hope to see you again and will certainly trt to do better.

xoxo Aminjirah

Cannot fault this place. We stayed for 3 nights and wanted to extend to 4 but fully booked. Breakfast was plentiful and yummy. Pools were the highlight and always a lounger free. Staff were incredible and friendly. Our air con was leaking and 2 staff members came to fix it within 5 minutes. We stayed in the old school room and was amazing with a fantastic view of the ocean. Highly recommend! !

High quality customer service in the most gorgeous surroundings....12 days of relaxation. Family garden room was adequate for our needs which had an additional room for our two daughters. Breakfast catered for all tastes and food was well cooked and plentiful. Stunning views from both cliff top pools. Service is professional and always with a smile...would thoroughly recommend!

Dear Sirs,

Glad you enjoyed such an extended stay !!! Personally I always enjoy staying with my kids in the Garden Paradise Room due to the extra bedroom and the size.

The views of the ocean are nice, but our room overlooked a field of blue plastic water tanks. The photos on the website look better than the actual rooms. However, the biggest complaint is the shower. Zero water pressure! At night, in the morning or afternoon...drip, drip, drip.
On arrival, the desk clerk looked panicked and had to call over and over on his radio for help. Not a very nice welcome.
I don't know how the place is rated so high. Wish I could be more positive, but there are much nicer places for the money

Dear Sirs,

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay and apologize if there was water pressure issues. That can indeed be a problem at times on Koh Tao. I am not sure why you think I was panicked, I was simply making sure that your bags were getting to your room and anxious to ensure a speedy check in so you could relax.

We had a really good stay in Aminjirah. The views are stunning, the food is good and it's a short (but hilly) walk onto town and to the local dive centres. The staff were all really helpful and for the price it's a bargain.
