Reviewed August 26, 2013

I stayed on Poseidon for two nights with my boyfriend in August 2013. It was more than a disappointment..

Service:
The service was terrible. The workers hardly spoke english and the manager was very rude. When we came with the taxi (which cost 400 Baht per taxi for a 3 min ride) he took us to the room and told us it costs 800 Baht without even saying welcome or hello. You have to book for at least 2 nights. They won't let you book just for one. 800 Baht per night for a Room with just a small bed and a fan is outrageous considering the living costs in Thailand. And it already was the cheapest one. We took the room with no other choice because everything else was fully booked.
When we ordered something to eat it would come at least half an hour later. Once I had to wait about one and a half hours for a soup because they forgot my order.
So we tried eating at another place on the bay. But everyone in Tanote Bay was unfriendly they didn't even look at you when you ordered food. And we got food poisoning from the Family Tanote Bay Resort which was located next to Poseidon.
So really this was enough to make us leave the Island. When we ordered a Taxi we wanted to wait for other hotel guests which checked out on the same day that we did in order to share the taxi costs. But then the manager told us now the price is 200 Baht per person. We just felt ripped off the entire time.

Room:
The room was big enough for the both of us. We didn't expect to have any sort of luxury during our trip but for 800 Baht it was way to overpriced. The fan looked like it hasn't been in use for ages with a thick layer of dust on each blade. My boyfriend had to clean them or else the dust would have fallen on us while we were sleeping or spread across the room. The bed and pillows were very hard which made sleeping very uncomfortable.

Location:
The Location is very good! Quite, calm and the corals are breathtaking. The Bungalows are just a few meters from the beach.

Additional Information:
They have a dog chained in the restaurant area. It was whining the entire time and did not have a bowl of water or food next to it. The only water I saw it drinking was the water inside of a pot of a waterplant. Plus I saw the manager hitting the dog for no particular reason. When I asked what was wrong they did not understand me because the worker did not speak english.

We met a french couple that came to the Resort on last minute. The manager told them he had a bungalow for 400 Baht. In reality it was a small room underneath the roof with no windows ant trails everywhere and a can of rat poison on the floor with just two old mattresses lying on the ground. I saw the room and it was horrible to demand 400 Baht for that! The manager is very greedy and only cares about you if you pay for the expensive bungalows.

So as you can read I was very unhappy and super glad once I got on the boat to leave the island Ko Tao. I won't be heading back to that Island ever again!

We had a nice bungalow on the hill side near the beach. It was far away from noisy party locations. The beach was great for beautiful snorkling. The resort was run by a kind family of which some speak a bit of english. Sometimes the service was a little bit chaotic. An ideal place for backpackers who don't want to party all night long.

We were staying at Montalay Beach resort where the food was very expensive. We tried Poseidon for our evening meal and it was just about OK. We returned the next day for breakfast and it had to be one of the worst we've had on our travels...we've been on the road for almost 2 years. The toast was dried out bread, my husband's fried egg looked like a kids rubber egg. It was terrible, we shouldn't have paid really.

Cheap place at a nice beach. The cheap huts are horrible. Dirty as hell. I killed a roach right on my forehead while trying to sleep on this horrible thin mattress. Lots of mosquitos and the owner is a creep. We could store our valuables at his own locker. But we had the feeling he would put it into his own pocket! Please go somewhere else at this lovely beach! We liked diamond beach resort. Lovely place for only 300 baht!!!

Dirty property... Bungalows awful, HUGE spiders in our room when we asked for help the owner laughed at us... Dirty disgusting resturant....There are two mean PIT BULLS on the property, and they attacked a guest and killed her dog !!!! Right in front of us !! We were horrified and left immediately !

We went further down this lovely beach and stayed at Montalay Beach Resort... Fantastic, lovely people, great food; perfect bungalows with flat screen TV'S and fridge, comfortable beds, very very clean and safe... really nice...Great snorkling !

We stayed at Poseidon for 3 nights in August. Beautiful beach and not so busy as some of the other parts of the island. Location of Poseidon is great as well as the restaurant. My 'Poor" rating is because of the room. They only had a room available in a stone building, so that's where we stayed. 2 Rooms next to each other and stairs going up to the roof. The room was extremely hot and looked dirty. Old bed with an uncomfortable mattress, dirty walls and I didn't dare touch the curtains. I expected better since this was a more expensive room. Maybe the bungalows are better, but this room was just terrible. For a place that was fully booked every day, I would at least expect a clean room and not a run-down dirty room.

Room Tip: Go for a bungalow! And book in advance
