“Great location, great staff, recommended!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2011

I've stayed here a couple of times and this year decided to go back and just stay for two weeks and do some diving. The location of Sairee is brilliant - right in the centre of Sairee beach. It has its own bar/restaurant that is quality - nice terrace above the beach and nice food. Brilliant place to sit and watch the sunset! It's also within walking distance of everything along Sairee beach, so plenty of other places to eat and drink too.

The cottages are set back from the path along the beach and are well spaced out with really well kept gardens between them. The place feels really nice and chilled - quite different from some of the other densely packed 'up market' resorts along the beach, which I would be guess are more expensive, but not nearly as nice!

I've also now stayed in a couple of the room types. Basic fan room is cheap but clean and comfy with en-suite, so everything you need really. There are also bigger rooms with air con (at extra cost) as well as beach front bungalows.

We did quite a bit of diving with Sairee (which gets you a fan room free) and the instructors and Dive Masters were really friendly.

Overall, I'd highly recommend staying at Sairee and going to Koh Tao. Don't believe some of the other reviews of the Island - those people came looking for Costa Del Sol and just need to be pointed in the direction of the Samui resorts.

We stayed here recently, after having read numerous reviews on tripadvisor and other sites.

First with the positives: the location of the resort is very convenient, it is bang in the middle of Sairee Beach and close to all restaurants and shops. The diving centre is well organized and we had a very nice time with the staff. We booked beach bungalows which were simple but cute and right on the beach, very relaxing and quite cool to see the sunset while having a beer in the hammoc! The restaurant on the site is also quite good and the staff super friendly.

Now for the negatives: the reception staff is incredibly unpleasant and rude. It doesn’t matter so much if you don’t have to deal with them but if you do, they will not facilitate anything for you and give you a really bad attitude. Very unlike what we were used about Thai people. The beach bungalows being on the beach, we had a lot of noise at night coming from a bar next door: loud music until 2-3 am and drunk people walking by. We ended up having to sleep with ear plugs. We also were silly enough to leave some things to dry on our terrace and got 3 swimsuits stolen one night.

The resort is overall quite nice and I think good value for money, but it is worth looking around, you might find other bungalows that may be a little more expensive but will make your stay more pleasant…

This is a great place to stay and dive. It is in a central location right next to the beach. The rooms are basic but exceptionally good value for money, very clean with new bedding and towels as often as you want. The diving was excellent and the dive guides and instructors were great - very helpful. We stayed for two weeks and although I have travelled quite a lot in Thailand I have yet to find somewhere that matches this. The bar also provides really good food and a great atmosphere.

i'm had better and i've had worse

1. room was large and clean
2. you do have to do some diligence to keep mosquitoes out, but that's typical of Thailand
3. very central location
4. restaurant was excellent
5. really enjoyed diving with Mee, and the other instructors seemed friendly as well (though sometimes seemed a little disinterested, but hey, they got stuff to do)
6. someone mentioned bedbugs, although i did not have them...a friend i met had to change rooms because he was being bitten by something...that definitely wasn't mosquitoes
7. there's a girl at the front desk who doesn't smile, ever...knowing the douchepackers out there, i can't really blame her

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay...I would definitely consider staying again, and I highly recommend the diving course with Mee.

We found this place by word of mouth and after staying 4 nights we agree it was a good place to stay.

We used the accompdation, restaurant, taxi service, masseuse and the dive school at some point in our stay. All were good.

The dive school was busy and an enjoyable experience thanks in part to our instructor (although she may be about to suffer an addiction to BBQ flavour Malaysian crisps) and the great local dive sites.

Would recommend again.

On my back to the Uk after a few months of travelling around, i decide to extend my stay in Thailand because i found Koh Tao. I had been told that Koh Tao had been devastated by the bad weather a few weeks ago and went against everyones advice not to go there, only to stumble upon paradise.
Had a walk up and down Sairee Beach and decided to stay at Sairee Cottage after talking to a couple of English diving Instructors who worked there. To be fair there is plenty of choice in that area but this place was the one for me. No hard sell, good prices and a very chilled atmosphere. To top all that its only a 2 minute walk to all the main bars and restaurants, so close enough to party and not too far to stumble home.
Thought id write this review, just to say a big thank you to all the guys at the dive school and restaurant. Me and my friends were a bit nervous about going diving but have had possibly the best experience ever. Our instructor was a very cool guy with lots of patience. He needed to be with us!
So, a big thank you to everyone at Sairee Cottage. See you again very soon!!!

Overall a great place to stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, the restaurant on site served lovely food especially the BBQ'd kebabs, the location is literally on the beach with the village on both sides within easy walking distance and the reception offers luandry and tour services. We also did some diving with the dive school attached to the accommodation and found it well taught and very safe for beginners. Hard to find fault with any of it, we ended up extending our stay here because of the nice vibe in Sairee. We booked an air con room at a discount with the diving course but they have cheaper rooms if you're on a tight budget.
