The views at this resort are the best I've ever seen in my life. No joking. I'm lucky to have traveled to a lot of islands (Hawaii, Bali, Cozumel, etc.) but this view tops them all! I've had many "beach" views of the ocean but from the rooms at Seaview, you have a stunning, tropical view of the jungle as it leads down a "mini" green valley to the deserted beach at Ao Leuk. Two rock out croppings sit in the water just off shore adding to the view. I would stay here again in a heart beat!
The rooms were reasonably priced and were well decorated in classic Thai design. Our deluxe room was large with cold air-conditioning, hot water and a lovely balcony. You are way up in the hills, too, which allowed a nice breeze to flow. Look online at the pictures of the wooden tub in the extra large bathroom!
Neal met us, with his truck at the pier and took us back to the resort. Once at Seaview, the girls took our bags up the hill (thank goodness) to our room. You get a good workout! My daughter counted 93 steps up the hill. However, don't let this discourage you--it just gives you an opportunity to stop, catch your breath, and look at the view.
Being away from Sairee and Mae Haad, the Seaview Resort was nice and quiet--a wonderful, tropical getaway. You can, and should, rent a scooter from the resort for 250 baht per day--unbelievable! They are fully automatic and very easy to drive. You can take the scooter and explore the paved roads all around the island. Eat in town, or just stay around the resort. They have a good restaurant serving freshly prepared Thai dishes (try the yum moo--spicy pork salad-- which is delicious and of course, Thai iced tea) as well as Western dishes.
Nearby Ao Leuk is a fantastic location for snorkeling: shallow, clear water, abundant with tons of fish. You can walk there.
I know this review may sound overly favorable, but honestly, it was, by far, the best experience we had in Thailand.
Thank you, Neal, and girls (I'm sorry I can't remember your names!) for a wonderful stay in Koh Tao!
