A wonderful resort where we stayed for several nights. It feels secluded and peaceful and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and very well maintained. The beach which is primarily used by resort guests is clean, with white sand and clear waters.

The individual villas are lovely and modern and clean; little can be faulted. We had a ripped mosquito net which was replaced as soon as we reported it.

The staff are friendly yet a little clumsy at times, but you feel that they are genuinely good and nice people who want to make your stay as good as possible.

The food is good and breakfast is great with a wide range of options, from continental, american, british to thai breakfast options.

The location is good as it's about 15minutes from Sairee Beach by bike. I would advise getting a quadbike and not a scooter as the road to get the hotel is rocky and dusty and it is very easy to damage your bike (something we learned the hard way). With a quadbike, its a piece of cake. If you want to be in the hubbub of Sairee or Mae Hadd, it's probably not the best place, but it's great if you want somewhere peaceful and tranquil.

The resort offers snorkelling and diving experiences with the Reef company, they are a lot a more expensive than other diving companies on the island so I would advise against going with them.

All in all, it was a great stay, and I wouls recommend it to anyone who stays in Koh Tao.

The Haad Tien Beach CLUB is the new division to the Haadtien Beach Resort and finishes are still being done in certain parts which wasn't a problem (not noisy or intrusive).
We stayed for 4 nights in an Ocean Balcony room. This resort is absolutely stunning. The rooms are modern, comfortable, clean and uncluttered with every facility you might need. Great balcony with day bed and lovely view of the beach.
We were met at the pier by the nicest, friendliest, efficient staff imaginable and everyone here speaks good English. Checking in was an equally pleasant experience and we were given access to our room at 10am instead of the usual 2pm.
The breakfasts served would be hard to beat, and to top it, complimentary champagne is offered. Lunches and dinners are equally good, although the drinks are a dash expensive.
The Spa and diving centre looked very good, although we didn't make use of them.
The Beach Club is fairly remote but is situated on the most beautiful stretch of beach with great snorkelling from the shore. There are no convenience stores close by, but the resort vehicles travel into the village twice a day, so if shopping needs to be done, you can catch a ride.
The swimming pool is great, with a very nice beach bar/restaurant.
Management are very visible, engaging guests and ensuring that everyone is happy. I highly recommend Haad Tien Beach Club. We will most certainly be back.

I travelled here with a couple of friends, we had a great time even though we felt like it was a honeymoon destination. Rooms were very clean and the fresh fish BBQ was super tasty! We snorkelled around shark bay and saw some amazing things. Staff were really friendly.

Room tip: Choose a room with a sea view

The essential attribute I looked for in a resort was that it be on a beach good for snorkeling.I chose The Haad Tien resort because of the sentence in the homepage:

'The beach itself opens out onto a crystal clear shallow lagoon which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.' ( haadtienbeachresort.com )

The staff were helpful, generous and good-natured about any requests we made and service and cleanliness were of a high standard.
The beachfront villa was in a lovely spot right on the beach and the villa itself was comfortable (apart from a remarkably hard bed).

However like Dr Seuss's Solla Selew there is one problem which is the problem with the lagoon. The water in May is so shallow as to make snorkeling or even swimming impossible or at best unpleasant. There was a short window after 5:00pm when the tide was at its highest and before it got dark, when snorkeling was more or less possible but not enjoyable. The water was shallow and murky.

Since my primary reason for visiting the resort was to snorkel from the beach , it was a great disappointment. Carrying on with the analogy to Solla Selew it was not easy to get to.

Room tip: castaway beachfront villas between 208 and 215 are good rooms with beach frontage

We had a fantastic 4 days at the Haad Tien in one of the most relaxed resorts I have ever been. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and the beach was pure bliss. The atmosphere and setting was something I have never experienced tranquility and luxury while understated. It is nice they have a diving school on the property which made it easy to schedule diving and snorkeling. The instructors and school were fantastic. The Thai lady working the bar which I wish I still had her name was pure entertainment! The only major improvement which the hotel made up for upon on our arrival was the communication and information on the transfers was very poor. When you go for the first time it is a bit complicated to navigate and the hotel was not clear with pick-up etc with boat, car and airport transfers. If the hotel could get this sorted my experience would have been 5 plus!
