Very expencive restaurant 3 times than in town, stuff in the reception unfreindly and unkindcas they makevyou afavour they let u stay in their hotek.
Other stuff are very nice and speak good english.
Pay attention to the kind of room u book
Because some are high and u need to claim.
Good for couples , less with families.

We stayed here for 10 days with our 3.5yr old and our 1.5 yr old and had a fabulous relaxing time. We booked a Castaway family villa which was gorgeous and right on the beach ( no 216) the view across the water each morning and the walk down the beach to breakfast was truly world class.

We found the staff really friendly and helpful and all seemed to love kids, nothing was too much trouble, unlike some other reviewers we loved the food (maybe its a new chef) and breakfast was fab. The pool was stylish and great for our kids as there was a shallow jacuzzi area that they loved.

The beach was coral sand with fishes swimming all round (which our daughter loved) and crab holes every few yards ....which we counted on the way to breakfast.

If you love shopping and nightlife this probably isn't the place for you, but if you want to get away from things (and still have Internet) and relax on the beach then it does not get much better.

I stayed here in September for 6 nights on my honeymoon.
We splurged and stayed in the pool villas and we are very happy that we paid the extra money.
The pool villas are clean, new and very private, perfect for a honeymoon.
The resort feels quite new and all of the amenities are modern.
The beach is beautiful and very clean, great for swimming and using the free snorkelling equipment provided.

My main issue with this resort is the service of the staff, particularly the female staff members on reception and in the main restaurant. They were very ubrubpt and not friendly, whereas all of the male staff were lovely and very eager to please.

The free shuttle into town was great but howere it only leaves three times a day and the times are not very convienient. The shuttle only takes you to the main pier and If you want to go to the main beach you are charged extra.
We hitched a ride one day with a couple who were claiming their free transfer to the pier and were quiet annoyed to find out when settling our bill that we had to pay for the trip, even though it was going to the pier regardless. It was just part o the not so great service.

We were celebrating our honeymoon with a bottle of champagne in our room (which we brought ourselves separately) and were charged for the delivery of ice to the room.

Overall it is a nice resort and great if you need a couple of days to relax and get away, however a couple of adjustments in customer service would definitely not go a miss.

We had a wonderful 1 week stay at Haadtien Resort.

Our main goal was to find a quiet beautiful resort nearby the busy pier/sairee beach. Hands down, Haadtien achieved this goal.

The hotel arranges pick up and transport to the pier (Lomprayah) three times a day. The people at the reception were helpful (not extremely friendly, but helpful). Our cottage was amazing. Less than 1 minute walk to reception, restaurant and beach. 2 mins walk to spa and beach bar. It was very clean and housekeeping did their job very well. We had an occasional gecko as visitor, but no problem for us.

The food at the restaurant was very nice. It is a bit more expensive for Thailand. We loved the beach bar...good food and nice cocktails. The breakfast covers thai, english and continental breakfast. We were very happy with the different options.
The beach was amazing. Very private feeling, not crowded at all. There is lots of coral (nice for snorkeling), but difficult to swim. It never goes quite deep.

We went diving with Impian Divers (pick up at hotel). We didn't use the diving center at hotel, because it was rather expensive. We didn't see it as a hassle that the resort was not located at the pier or sairee beach among the diving centres. In the end, the pick up and transfer to diving center was well organised.

Fun features resort: good room service, good housekeeping at any time during the day, dvd player (rent dvds for free), great spa and nice clean warm pool (with jacuzzi).

Conclusion: We had an amazing stay and can recommend this resort to anyone. Except maybe, a group of youngsters whos main goal is to party.

Koh Tao is already beautiful island and Haad Tien is on one of its most beautiful beaches. Bungalows are modern, tastefully decorated, and sufficiently spread out to offer privacy. Nice infinity pool, limited but decent breakfast buffet (try the pancakes). Gets quiet at night, which is good if you are seeking the quiet, but you'll need to drive 15-20 minutes to go to town for more lively places. Shuttle service is not frequent enough, and they should do something about the many flies at the breakfast tables, but these are minor drawbacks for otherwise excellent resort.

Its a beautiful hotel located near the beach. You can easily walk from your room to the pool & the beach. The staff is very friendly & helpful. This hotel is slightly far from the main market area but they provide shuttle services during the main hours. They also have pick up & drop service to the ferry. The reception staff helped us with the activities in Koh tao. We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Koh Tao is not very crowded and they have some very good massage places. I am looking forward to coming again to Koh tao and I will definitely stay again at Haad tien..

We had booked a getaway villa and upon arrival we were pleased. The hut was very cosy and nice and the beach looked like the pictures on the website. However we were very disappointed with the food. On our second day we went to the beach bar for lunch and ordered a simple stir fried beef dish. Half way through the dish we found half of a rubber band in it. The staff was very apologetic and brought us a new portion straight away. Unfortunately after a couple of bites we discovered a metal staple in it. This killed our appetite! We complained again and were offered a new dish but didn't want to take the risk. They did not charge us for the food but still wanted money for the two colas. Also the fact that the beach bar staff did not report it to the manager at the front desk makes it seem a bit dodgy. If you just want a beer on the beach The Haad Tien is great.
