“Totally Relaxing”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

If you look for a relaxing and quiet resort in the beautiful island of Koh Tao, don't miss this. It is not first cost, but the money you spend it worth the staying. People very friendly and full of attentions. A little trouble with the road arriving there, specially with a byke ( opfully they will repair it!)

Stayed two nights in the getaway villas and the rooms were fantastic! Very close to the intimate white sandy beach you imagine in your dreams! The pool is very exotic made out of slate stone and bar serving fresh piña colada!!!

The restaurant is ok, not the best food I have tasted, but the curries are quite decent.

Overall a great experience and would definetly recommend for couples or even travelling with kids

Room Tip: The getaway villas are fantastic, try the ones that are closest to the beach as some of the back one...

What a fantastic place this resort is! We stayed here in February with 3 children & we all cried when we had to leave! This is a place to come back to for sure!
They beach, the castaway villas, beach bar, restaurant, pool it`s all great! But whats really makes Haad Tien so fantastic, is the INCREDIBLE WONDERFUL staff! All of them from the reception, cleaning, restaurant, beachbar, spa, gardeners & Security, they all made us feel so welcome! Our children named them as their new friends...The manager Khun Suchet has created a home away from home at the most beautiful beach at Koh Tao!
We`ll be back!

Easygoing atmosphere, beautifully constructed, delicious food and cocktails and beautiful, cozy rooms.
The staff don't speak English that well, and there are many outsiders on the public beach(thats beautiful by the way).

Our purpose of coming to the resort was to rest and relax and dive. Unfortunately we were unable to do any of these things.

When we arrived, there was loud construction (despite sending 3 emails prior to booking to ensure no construction would be occurring). We were given 2 free cocktails and told our only option was to pay an additional 2000 bt per night to move to an upgraded room. Our room was already a steep 5200 bt per night. other guests also requested to be move rooms..

our Internet connection worked about ten percent of the time. This made it difficult to communicate with our dive operator. When the dive operator called the resort asking for us to confirm our booking, they were told that Haad Tien had "no record of someone by that name". We remember the resort taking copies of our passport, and obviously knew the names our guests staying at the resort. thedive company could not hold our spot, and by the time I finally got the Internet to work, the dive boat was full. We were unable to dive ko Tao, one of the main reasons for being here.

we then ate dinner at the resort. We were dressed up, looking forward to a relaxing meal. Ittook over an hour to receive food. We never were offered drink refills. Other guests were also noticing the delay. The restaurant manager , our waiter, never told us when we would receive our food despite asking several times. Hesaid "there are problems at the other tables." The resort manager later said he knew of the delay that evening in the restaurant for many of the guests.

And the construction continued, all day. And the roosters crowed alllllll night, not just In the morning..

the resort never responded to our complaint, nor our email after the fact. the video we have of the morning til evening construction noise was deafening..

overall, my wife and i would have to say it was a beauiful eplace to spend our honeymoon. the access to some of koh taos best off-the-beach snorkelling or even a shore dive, the ability to get in and out of the town in the shuttle (four times a day) a good dive shop, lovely pool, beach bar and just generally good service. the rooms were nice that ours was basically all wood with a gorgeous dark grey stone in the shower area. the only real thing we were not happy with was the water pressure in the shower or the lack of any pressure whatsoever. Kamran at reception was very polite and helpful. some of the staff really went out of their wAy to ensure our one week stay was greatf. another downside ti the resort was quality of food relative to price. this is one area they must work onprices are four times what you could find in town. generally the resort is beautiful and service is good. it is just attention to detail is lacking in a few places.... highyl recommmend

We had an issue with our original accomodation we had booked in Koh Tao so we had to take a day to find a new place to stay. Luckily we had hired a Quadbike and we were able to fully explore the island. So when we found the Haad Tien or as we like to call it "Absolute Paradise" we realised we found perfection!

It was amazing to say the least. We visited several places (which I will review later) and this one was like walking into a breath of fresh air. We were greeted with smiles and the staff could not do enough to help us and make our stay perfect. They were incredibly accommodating and very attentive to our needs. And this continued throughout the entire week we stayed there.

The rooms/huts are just lovely. Perfect for the gorgeous setting of cocunut trees and white sand beach. We explored almost every beach with our Quadbike and where the Haad Tien is located is the best spot. I felt the rooms/huts were the perfect size too...the weather was so great we really were only there in the evenings...and we would go to breakfast about 9am and the rest of the time we were snorkelling off the beach or lounging in the pool....so sometimes size is not so important as you are not in the room much. The rooms were kept immaculately cleaned and fresh each day. The shower gel and shampoo smell divine...I am not sure where they get it from but I would love to know! Breakfast was great as well...some people thought there could be more choices but you have to remember this is Koh Tao and not Koh Samui (which is a much much bigger place so therefore has access to more things). Koh Tao is laid back and there is not much around....but if you love the water and the sun then it is perfect. We are already planning our next trip back. It is one of our favorite places in Thailand. I know our trip was made even better because we stayed at the Haad Tien...if we had stayed in our original accomodation I am sure I would not be so in love with Koh Tao.

The pool and beach bar are awesome. The staff really take care of you and the service is always with a smile. The staff were so good with my son as well...this always makes a difference because I love when my son is laughing and happy....and the staff kept him laughing the whole week. The prices are good as well for this place. It is above what you would pay in Sairee Beach but the quality is superb and worth the price....plus you cannot beat the location...it is just perfect!

Snorkelling here is great...just go beyond the ropes for clearer water. Our other favorite snorkel and dive spot was Tanote Bay. This is why you need a Quadbike...the road to Tanote Bay is a bit tricky but with a Quadbike you will get there easily. Off the beach of Haad Tien we regularly saw Black Tip Reef Sharks which were amazing. There are not many places where you will easily see so many. I just loved swimming with them! Also, when it is low tide borrow the kayak from the Haad Tien beach bar and take it out beyond the ropes...it is still quite shallow and you will see heaps of beautiful sea life. I reccommend taking the kayak as when it is lowtide it can be harder to swim out to the clearest water.

The massages in the spa were good as well. I like the "cooling back treatment" that they finish the aromatherapy massage with. The only change I would make to Haad Tien is to build a proper spot for the spa. Currently it is in one of the huts that was meant to be a room and I think guests would prefer a more upmarket place for their massages. It is clean and fine for the moment but I would suggest in the future as then you can offer the full "spa experience" to all of the guests. I just know a few guests we met went to other spots for their spa treatments so in order to keep them at the Haad Tien this would be a good improvement to make. Plus it seems everyone wants massages on holidays these days!

Overall this place is an absolute gem. We were so sad to leave and we cannot wait to go back again soon! We are already discussing dates to return!
