“Beautiful place, great food and nice staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014

Lovely hotel with stunning views. The houses are all faceto the sea, a beautiful bay. In the room, the bathroom is upstairs, the bed is downstairs. The hotel is not suitable for people who have difficulty walking. The resort has a lot of stairs. It lies on a slope. The bed is very hard, and the room lacks a clothes cupboard. Furthermore, it is a beautiful resort with a great garden and a lovely pool with a stunning view. The staff is very kind and helpful. The food is delicious. This is a great hotel within walking distance (via a large steep slope) of a number of delicious restaurants.

This hotel tops all of them in terms of seclusion and view. It was (and most likely will be) the nicest hotel I will stay in for years to come. Waking up to the view I did and the scenery and atmosphere will not be matched for a long time. For this, I would have given this location a 5/5 for location. The breakfast was also very nice and we were given everything we asked for in a very timely manner and by the nicest people.

The only reason I am torn and might give this four stars is because they never responded to either of my two emails for pickup to the hotel so we had to arrive on our own. The other reason was when we checked out they lost my bag (which had my passport in it). They ended up recovering the bag, but still was one of the more stressful times I have had in a long time. We got the bag back with about ten minutes left to get on the boat. It all worked out and it was nice and I could have stayed there for a week, but this was the only bad thing that happened.

Regardless of this, I am still going to give them a 5-star review because of the view and the service from the hotel. It was a great time and would like to go back again.

My fiancee and I stayed there between Christmas and NYE, and we loved every minute that we spent at the hotel ! The staff is very friendly, and we felt welcome as soon as we stepped inside the hotel after a rough ferry ride to the island. The transfer from the pier was very convenient, and even though we arrived early, our room was ready as soon as we finished breakfast. All the bungalows are laid out on the hill side, and all have large balconies with amazing views on the bay below. The room itself is also really nicely laid out, with the bathroom on an upper level from the room itself, which gives it a very nice touch. The pool is a little small, but the view from there is also stunning, and as the hotel isn't really big, there are enough lounge chairs around the pool for everyone. It's also very quiet, which we were very grateful for as we just wanted to relax.
It is indeed a bit of a climb to the hotel, but that's worth it when considering the view and the isolated feel ! The food might be a bit basic, but the pad see yew was actually quite good, and there are in any case many good food choices around the island.
Overall, we loved it, and we would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to relax in a comfortable setting with amazing views!

This place is worth at least a night's stay if you are visiting. The view from the hill top pool n restaurant is splendid! Very decent meals served and I love the design of their rooms. I had the opportunity of meeting and talking to their manager/owner. She made my stay a very pleasant one!

Me and my husband stayed 4 nights at Chintakiri Resort and loved it. It's relaxing and peaceful resort in a beautiful garden with a spectacular view. They have nice pool, food is great and not so expensive. Staff is friendly and helpful, they pick us up at the pier and take us back to the pier for free. Negative side to this resort is climbing, but if you're young and healthy, it shouldn't be a problem, I saw an old couple in resort, so if they could climb....Overall this is great resort on a beautiful tropical island.

We stayed at Chintakiri Resort for 10 nights in December 2013. There was pickup from the ferry and when we arrived at the hotel we had a glass of juice when checking in. The bungalows were good sized and clean, but very hot when the AC was off. The electricity worked only when a card was placed in a holder by the door, so every time we came to the bungalow it was like a sauna. But after 10 minutes the temperature was ok again.

The breakfast which was included was good, there was a menu with different options, like American breakfast, omelette, toast aso. The lunch and dinner was also nice, both asian and western options. The prices and the quality was similar to the ones "downtown" so we ate most of our melas at the hotel. The girls in the restaurang were very friendly, although their English was very limited.

The only downside in our opinion was the climb up. We had read about it here on Tripadvisor, but we couldn't imagine it being so steep. On the other hand, the view was fantastic! The girls who cleaned the room were maybe a bit too curious. They had been going through my makeup-purse and once when I came back to the room while they were cleaning it, I caught one of the girls going through some of my husbands stuff. Nothing disappeared but it feels a bit awkward knowing that somebody has been where they shouldn't.

But overall, a great experience and we definetly recommend Chintakiri to other travellers!

We visited for 2 weeks in September with some friends, we were the only visitors to the resort. We had fantastic sea views and the service impeccable. Our two waitresses both called A were very tentative and nothing was too much trouble, we were met with a smile every day. Really very reasonable rates considering the quality. Yes the walk up the hill is a killer and really not great if you are infirm or have kids - I used the hill as a bit of training each day. The beach is a 5 min walk - and taxi service readily available. Couldn't fault it really
