“Peaceful relaxing beach break”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon and we loved the novelty of the huts on the beach and the simplicity of them. The resort is stunning but is very basic. We had a beach front hut, which probably made it as in the morning we woke to a stunning view of the sea.

The huts are basic, literally a bed and bathroom, which is partly open to the elements and they do not have hot water (it was salty, so I assume it is pumped from the sea). However, we were only here for 2 nights I did not mind at all and just went with the novelty factor.

There is nothing to do here except sunbathe etc, unless you are prepared to trek up the hill to walk to Tonsai or pay the long tail boatmen to drive you. We did have a walk up to the view point and was annoyed when we got all the way that you were supposed to pay and we had not brought any money, but we saw a huge lizard and monkeys on route so did not mind too much.

There is nothing to do at night, except eat/drink in the restaurant, which is pricey compared to other areas of Thailand. There was no entertainment on and after our meal we would sit on the beach, look at the stars, watch the crabs etc.

All the staff were lovely and friendly.

This place was lovely for 2 nights but I think I would have got fed up if I was staying any longer.

Room Tip: I would pay extra for a beach front hut.

I've just returned from Thailand and stayed here for 2 nights in rm 10. If your after ac, no insects, busy nightlife then this isn't the place for you, but I'd then also think should you even be going to Thailand!!
I stayed here with 2 other adults and we had an amazing relaxing time!
We signed up for the half day excursion visiting where they filmed the Beach, snorkelling in Maya Bay and monkey island and Viking cave which was good value for money and we really enjoyed it.
The room is basic but that was what we expected, and with the amazing beach, I can't see why anyone would want to be in there unless getting ready for the evening and sleeping!!
The electric is on 6pm till 6am but this isn't a problem at all. And the fans work ok instead of having a/c during the night.
The restaurant food was good with a huge choice. The staff I felt were friendly and helpful.
If you want to stay somewhere for a couple of nights and experience something different this place is great.

Place where you are stuck and have the feeling you are in a camp. Instead of the normal Thai friendliness you are treated like a prisoner mainly because of the European Manager. He squeeze the money out of everything. Nothing is free and all things are expensive. Even for the password of the WIFi you have to pay and when you connect its steam driven. The bungalows are crab. No hot water, no a/c cheap really nasty plastic shower courtains seperating bathroom from bedroom. No chair to sit on to do some writing or work. Lonely Planet guy must be bribed or complety drunk to do BEST CHOICE on this place. So go to somewhere else. There sre plenty which are much better I duppose.

Lovely place, lovely small beach. As already mentioned, the place looks charming upon arrival. Isolated place, best for a short stay, might get boring and uncomfortable.
Staff is nice, especially if you are staying longer and they get to know you. However I could also agree with those visitors who didnt experience the best communication and the best service. Restaurant and accommodation a bit overpriced - as is the whole Phi Phi island.
Great cook - delicious meals.
If you like to wipe your washed face with a fresh towel bring your own.
I loved the Evening atmosphere of the restaurant, the dancing celebration the staff made on the Thai New Year and monkeys feeding on a mango tree right at the bungalows.

The place looked impressive upon arrival, as the beach is a sliver of white sand laced with tropical flora along a backdrop of Thai style cottages clinging on the craggy hills. The place looked charming, no doubt. But soon after, we found out it was anything but ....

The room was basic. The décor rustic shabby. The brown bed sheets made the rooms look dull and dark. The bathroom was almost run down. The sink faucet was old and rusty, and the spray faucet adjacent to the toilet seat was down right filthy. Over all, the bathroom did not look or feel clean. No electricity during the day was absolutely OK, but over all the rooms were not cozy to come back to.

The food was poor to average, depending on what we ordered. And the staff were totally unprofessional. They definitely require thorough training in (1) communication in English; (2) courtesy; and (3) over all professionalism.

The restaurant staff would just loiter around, chatting away with each other, as if they were on a holiday. It used to take an effort to attract their attention. Food took a long time to arrive on the table. Over all, they did not look happy; they looked as if they were there just to collect their next pay check.

The European manager was grumpy and inflexible. A little smile on his face would take him a long way.

May be the place has become too relaxed due to the raving reviews it has been receiving from the young crowds that flock there. The only saving grace was the massage ladies who gave excellent, though pricey, massages.

The place is definitely not geared towards families with small children. But because there is a beach, kids manage to have a good time. And it is definitely not good value.

Last but not the least: wonder why it is called a resort. It hardly qualifies to be one, as it does not have a spa, gym, business center or a pool -- the basics offered in a resort. May be I need an update on the definition of a resort.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms offer good view of the sea

The resort caters to families and couples who want to enjoy this side of paradise and get away from the loud party noises of Phi Phi's Tonsai Village. It is private and quiet, and lives up to its moniker. There's nothing else to do here but relax. If your reason for coming to Thailand is to experience the laid back island life, then you are in the right resort. They turn off the generator from 6 am to 6 pm, so the whole daytime will take you out beach front to listen to the whispering waves, sunbathe, tiptoe on the corals during low tide, watch the children playing in the sand and the long tail boats passing and parking in front of you. Corals are nearby so you don't have to charter a boat . Just grab your snorkeling gears and go. The only thing that peeved me are the insects crawling and flying in your room in the night, and I don't just mean mosquitoes. But what do you expect? If you are sleeping next to the jungle, expect your wife to wake you up at 2 in the morning to kill a few crickets. The beach is inviting, and there's a pathway to the woods leading to the famous Phi Phi View Point. The food in here is a bit expensive, as expected, but the service is good and friendly.

Room Tip: Choose the beach front huts, farther from the jungle, for easy access to the restaurant.

This hotel is stunning!! We stayed for 2 nights in rooms 14 &15 which provided a family apartment on the second level with two adjoining rooms and a large balcony with a big outside platform bedded area - it was magical! The views were stunning and the rooms full of character just as i had hoped. Imagine a simple bathroom overlooking a turquoise sea - that was just one of the treats! There is no air con but we coped with little difficulty with a large fan pointing directly at the mosquito netted bed. At sunrise and sunset the jungle erupted with sounds that were totally evocative and monkeys wondered around behind our apartment which was exciting! The beach is lovely, secluded and quiet, beautiful sands, hammocks and good opportunities for snorkelling in the clear coral sea.
The food was delicious - high quality Thai cooking and an extensive reasonable menu. Delicious shakes and cocktails were available at the beach bar. I regret not booking a massage on the beach. We were caught out by the overcast skies and suffered with sunburn in spite of the high factor sunscreen so a massage was sadly out of the question.
We were impressed by the free longtail transfers. This was not pre-arranged. Every hotel sends longtail boats to meet the ferries. When you disembark you will see boatmen lined up holding signs for each hotel - it all worked really well!
Book this hotel if you want a really authentic and magical experience, I only wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 nights we had booked!

Room Tip: We toyed with booking a beach apartment but I think that sleeping on a higher level worked well sinc...
