“Stay in the new building & you'll love it!!”
Reviewed August 30, 2009

We stayed here for 12 nights.
If youre looking for somewhere clean & comfortable away from all the madness in the town, this is really nice place to stay. We enjoyed the stroll back after dinner each night & the staff were lovely. People who are disappointed with this place must have stayed in the bungalows because all the hotel rooms are clean & brand new. We had a spacious balcony, Air Con, TV, fridge, warm showers & clean towels every day. I think a lot of western travellers expect way too much from these small islands & as a result ruin their own holiday!
Stay in the hotel part (new building), the bungalows look very basic & aimed at backpackers.
The pool is lovely & they provide towels for the pool, 1st come 1st served basis.
Its about 10-12 minute walk from the pier & the town where all the restaurants & nightlife are.
There are a couple of nice bars close by.
The breakfast is decent, fruit, omlettes, toast etc.

We were here for 6 nights and loved it - but you need to stay in the new section which is modern and luxurious.
The new pool is great and looks over the amazing Andaman Sea.
We became addicted to the giant spa - the jets run all day, looks out to Maya Bay, and its so relaxing and a good way to chat to other people.
The location is good - on the quiet side but still with plenty of action very close by. Long beach is a must too - you can walk from here its only 15 minutes or so and its a beautiful stretch of white sand beach with crystal clear water.
Service is always something you can plan on but when we were there the staff were always friendly and helpful if required.

Like all thailand travellers know, Phi Phi is way overprized for almost anything you do, but the Andaman Beach Resort beats them all! I'm back for a few months now, but still get remember the awefull smell in the room. The airco (wich was an upgrade that doubled the price) didn't work. When flushing the toilet everything came out of the showerdrain . The whole room was dirty and not cleaned in weeks. Since we didn't get another room after complaining, we left after one night.
I already pre-booked and payed with Visa, so there was no possibility to get my money back. After arguing for hours I decided I didn't want the awefull staff ruin my vacation so we left and enjoyed Thailands wonderfull hotels in Phuket and Koh Samui.

We caught a private sail boat from Phuket to Phi Phi Don, and we got in really late!
The staff were woken up and although a bit tored - they showed us to our room and to be honest from then onwards the stay was amasing!
What a fantatic Island - full of nice locals, good clean fun bars (unlike Phuket!) and gorgeous beaches.
The hotel itself was a little pricey! But we stayed for 5 nights while touring Thailand, and this was my favourite hotel/hostel. The bar just next door has fire dancing and cheap drinks, and just down the road there is an even bigger bar with parties going on!
However if you dont like the bar atmosphere - there is quiet beaches all around Phi Phi Don. The really good thing about this hotel was the fact that the town was a little way down the road, (not too far!) but it meant that we had no trouble or loud music realy late that kept us awake :-)
Trips are great too, my advise hire a long boat for the day (8 hours) they are really friendly and you can visit all kinds of places - Monkey Beach and Bamboo Island were my favourite. Phi Phi Lea (the beach) Maya Bay was a little dissappointing as destroyed now because of tourism...

But if you are looking at staying here - its worth the money!

I really do not understand why this resort gets any good reviews!!! When we arrived, we wanted to see the bungalows first. The standard bungalow with fan. Very small, old and it looked dirty. Then we saw the Deluxe bungalows with air con. It also looked a bit dirty, But we dicided to take that one. But then we saw that the aircon was not working and leaking into the bathroom. When we asked them for an other room they said that they did not have any. But if you looked into the bungalows they were all empty. Then we decided to go to the hotel. The room looked very nice with a great bathroom. But the second night we heard some noice. It was very load and it kept uis up for a few hours. Then around 5 in the morning we saw what it was, a BIG RAT!!! The first thing we did that morning was checking out, and when we told the lady of the reception about the rat she said: "ooh, a rat. Okay...,".

Other bad things were: you had to pay for a locker,
the staff was not helpfull
it was a far walk to the center
the nightporter was no were to be found at night
the prices are to high!

If I was you, never go there!!!

Stayed there for 4 nights in July 2009.
I've spent my time in this hotel in the new section that opened about 6 months ago, for the small upgrade fee it's a well worth upgrade, rooms are big, completely new and decorated really nice.
Breakfast in the hotel is pretty nice.
The only real downside of this hotel is it's a bit far away from the main part of tongsay bay, so better prepare yourself for a good 10-15 minute walk to get there.
This also means hotel is pretty quiet, which was a great plus for me.

Nice place. Should have said there was dredging going on right on the beach. What a disappointment for a $250 a night place. Thumbs down.
