Paradise Resort Phi Phi
Ranked #7 of 38 Hotels in Ko Phi Phi Don
Reviewed January 24, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for 1 night with 2 friends on Boxing Day. We shared 1 room as they put an extra bed in the room. More than big enough and really modern. Location is perfect in my opinion, the beach in front of hotel is quiet and only a 5 min boat ride to Ton Sai Bay where the action is. We ate lunch twice at the hotel and were more than happy with the quality and price. If i return to Phi Phi in the future there is no doubt we'll be booking here again!

OK, so I;ve just read some of the recent review about the Paradise Resort and am very surprised to see such negative comments. I spent 6 days over the Christmas break at Paradise Resort and had a really enjoyable stay. To put it in context, I arrived at the Paradise Resort after spending 4 days at the Banyan Tree in Bangkok (which was terrible and 4 times the price!).

We stayed on one of the standard bungalows as it was all they had. GBP£52 per night for the Christmas week (incl breakfast). The bungalow was a good size and it was basic. It was very clean (cleaned every day) however, you do need to put the sign on the outside of your door to have it cleaned. The air con works very well and there are mosquito nets over the beds. The is also a fridge which again worked well. No musty smell at all in the room. Beds are hardish .. dont knock them .. very comfortable if you like a hard bed (i do). Bathroom is very simple .. again, basic but very clean. On the subject of bathrooms, the public areas (including the public toilets at the resort) are all very very clean (if you want a comparison suggest visit the 'facilities' at the other resorts on Long Beach and you'll see what I mean).

Mosquitos: There are around but this is not the fault of the resort. They are everywhere on the island .. they live there too. If you don't like them then go somewhere mosquito free. Suggest you take some mosquito spray with you. They do light the burners in the evening and that helps deter them.

Staff: Staff are very friendly if you are friendly towards them. When we arrived on the beach ( 5 of us with a huge amount of luggage) 3 or 4 of the staff came down the beach and took our luggage from us. Check in was very good .. again very friendly. I've seen it mentioned that their english is not good ... It's not but they do try. Becuase english if not their first language and they are not very good at it, they dont always instigate conversations and may be seen as being unfriendly.. They are not unfriendly people at all. It does really annoy me that english speaking tourists expect everyone in the world to speak english to a good standard when they are in foreign lands ... perhaps we should try to learn some words their in their language .. it does go a long way. It's their country, their language and if you want english speaking people to tend to you every whim at the click of your finger then suggest you go somewhere else.

Food: Contrary to what I read before I stayed here, the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Not a huge selection but all fresh and well prepared. Egg station at breakfast does great omlettes and lots fo fresh fish on the BBQ for dinner in the evening. Note .. all food and drink must be paid for in cash as nothing can be charged to rooms. There is a small shop and cash machine at the Paradise Pearl resort about 3 mins walk along the path. The shop does sell beer, wine, spirits, ice etc.

There are taxi boats at the resort and the run all night if needed. You dont need to treck back on foot late at night (again something I read in some other reviews) . Just arrange with the boat driver what time you want to be collected from Tonsai and he'll be there. A few Bhatt tip goes along way.

All the resorts on Long Beach do seem to close up around 10pm (which is not a bad thing). There is one beach bar up on end of the beach which will stay open as long as there a customers. Nice bar, good fun .. cant remember the name fo it!

The beach is beautiful. There are no sunloungers ... do you really need them? What ever happenned to putting your towel down on the sand and lying on that? There are deckchairs. Plenty of trees for shade and snorkelling right from the beach .. beautiful.

In summary, a really lovely place, very clean, very special, very friendly staff. Well worth a visit and good value for money. Will certainly be back for another visit.

The room was clean and spacious with air con. The shower is nice and big, but some days didn't have hot water which I found very common throughout Asia. The free breakfast is AWESOME. The location on Longbeach is perfect, it's super easy to get to the main town (100 baht in the day and 150 baht at night by longtail boat which takes about 15 minutes, and there are boats waiting all night). Even though we are young travellers, here to experience the party scene I found it was better staying at longbeach away from the madness in town and the beach is so much more beautiful (the beach at Phi Phi is actually quite disgusting as sewage leaks in). I would definitely recommend.

Place is infested with mosquitoes at night and staffs are really unfriendly. They will watch you like hawks. Beds are uncomfortable. Shower heads are pathetic and the room has a musty air. Not worth the price for the deluxe room. Pictures are deceiving.

Comfortable room which was very clean. We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms and we were very happy with it. Our only complain was there were no loungers and only a few deckchairs on the sand which were tied down so could not be moved into the shade. This would have been a problem for us if we were staying more than a couple of days as we are getting a bit older and need our comforts. The beach is quite busy with longtail boats coming and going all day and evening but the water is lovely and you can snorkel right by the beach.

Overall a really nice experience. Being right on the beach is wonderful, and plenty of trees to read underneath. I'd go back.

A 100 baht boat ride from the main town (150 at night), the whole resort shuts down and goes quiet at 10pm-ish, which is kind of cool.

Note that you will likely be sleeping with a mosquito net, which 2/3 of their rooms seemed to require. But this isn't really a problem. Rooms were spartan -- if you're looking for a beautiful interior, elsewhere is better.

We stayed at this resort for four nights, unfortunately the beach front bungalows were fully booked so we couldn't upgrade from our original booking. Staff are friendly on arrival. Bungalow is of good dimension with its nice size balcony with two chairs and table to chill out in the evening. Air con working properly, TV (we watched only 15 mins but good selection of channels). Shower with hot water (not on the tap though). They come and clean your bungalow every day which was very good. Breakfast had a nice selection and you sit on the beautiful beach so that is quite priceless!! All in all is very good and when back to Phi Phi might come back there. This is the second time we stayed there after 5 years and is always good!
