“White sands and clear water”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

The beach is extraordinary, with super fine white sand and an exceptionally clear water of that much praised turquoise color (standing there, it feels like you are in a photoshopped picture really).
Make sure to walk deeper through the palm trees. There is a small bridge leading you to a viewpoint that is a touching point between two large cliffs, overlooking deeper emerald waters. If you are on the bridge, you also get some waves hitting you gently after having crossed the narrow path between the cliffs, which is sort of cute :)

Downsides:
the bay is filled with boats (both long tail & speed boats) during the day, so it's difficult to enjoy any swimming :(
the beach is equally filled with tourists, all making the same pictures, with the same rocks standing in the water...

I believe it costs 100Baht to have the boat parked (possibly per person), but most tours would have this included.

“Beautiful turquoise sea water + crowds”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

Yes Maya Bay is worth the visit, worth the swim by the beach and worth your time taking those nice photos. It would be perfect if your partner and you are the only two people on the beach but reality is this place is too touristic and crowded which masked off most of its beauty.

“Too much hyped”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

Maya Bay & the beach is beautiful however there is always a huge crowd you will have to deal with. This makes it very average experience for me. I loved the colours of the water and the beauty of Maya but the timing was not correct.

I think one need to stay in Phi Phi and take a long tail boat very early in morning and visit Maya bay when there are no crowds.

“Unforgettable”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

Paradise setting, definitely worth a visit. Kodak moments all the way across the beach. Great that there weren't people hassling you to buy - best to keep Phi Phi lay market-free and unspoilt.
