Very beautiful - but then again, so many beautiful places in Krabi.....We went by private long tail boat and arrived at 8.30 a.m. Lots of people there already, more when we left. Good fun to se "The Beach" but not really a must do"."

We visited Maya Bay during a snorkeling trip and after paying 200THB for the national park fees, it was quite disappointing. A small beach, a sign and some toilets. Far too many people. The snorkeling was great though!

The beach, the water, the cliffs, everything is magnificent and will take your breath away as you stand there looking around. Truly the most beautiful and serene place in Thailand, or anywhere for that matter. However, it can turn out to be incredibly crowded...The first time we went here, we were lucky enough to beat the bustle of speed boats, charter boats and every other kind of boat filled with, well, boatloads of tourists. We same them approaching just as we were leaving. After we left, I told my fiance it was by far the most beautiful place I'd ever seen. The second time we went there was right before the sun was setting, and there wasn't a soul on the beach or in the water. It looked magical in all its loneliness. This is when my fiance decided to propose to me. It was the most beautiful moment of my life in the most beautiful setting you could ever dream about. Our advice: go really early, or really late and enjoy this magnificent place.

Spend an afternoon there, If you stay over 4PM it gets less crowded (this is a major tourist attraction) and you can really enjoy the scenary

as previously said, Maya Bay is breathtaking and the scenery is definitely something special. I first visited in 2008 and it was a lot less crowded compared to this year. There were speed boats, charter boats and long boats EVERYWHERE, so there was only about a square of 60m to actually swim in, which is nothing in comparison to the amount of people there. Unfortunately this development/popularity has ruined something that was so naturally beautiful, and someone should action a 'no motors' rule within the bay area, as the water is nowhere as clear as other beaches. We did do a scuba dive another day on edge of the bay (with seaturtles) - and very recommended. Snorkelling is better elsewhere!
I would recommend coming at dusk after the day's crowd, or even trying to do the camping trip so you get to experience it early morning - if not, go elsewhere as you will appreciate it more
