The government better do something soon before Maya bay is completely destroyed. I am sorry I went at all. There are so many people on the beach you can hardly see the sand and the sea is like human soup, no fun at all! Boats of all kind are in the bay all day - tons of them! Dangerous to swim. :( badly done Thai government, badly done.

Thank Danielle W

First for visa at arrival, you should have photographs ready without spectacles & exposing ¾ of your face.
Local Sim card is available free at the Bangkok airport without any documents. The same, u will get in the city shops. Cost is approx 6 baht (12 rupees) for one minute outgoing.
Do have the cash converted into baht only in India to avoid heavy conversion charges. Peoples say that dollars are also accepted but many shops were asking for baht only or they use to aply conversion charges of dollar to baht. Thus, people paid twice the conversion charges, i.e. from rupees to dollar to baht.
The city of phuket is flooded with currency converters but they charge heavily. In India, we got from forex exchange, @ 1 baht =1.75 Rs. There in phuket, they gave 1 baht = 2.5 to 2.60 Rs. At airport also, the charges were costlier(2.10- 2.20 Rs/baht).With international debit card (which most of our debit cards are), charges are Rs 300 extra for every ATM withdrawl in thailand. U will get cash in baht from ATM.
Seven eleven & family mart shops are there at every 1-2 km to have useful daily items at reasonable rates. Mobile recharge pack is available with them.
The day tour in phuket or pattaya are quite cheaper than mentioned in their printed leaflets. James island tour & maya bay cost approx 1000-1200 baht/person individually.
James island is a land locked island, so few big waves comes there & can be visited throughout the year. Boat canoeing is a must to do experience. Hotel transfers, lunch, in between refreshment in the form of cold drinks, fruits, & boat canoeing all are included in the 1000 baht.
Road side shops selling fresh tiger prawns & fishes are available in phuket, who weighs the fish & then cooks them in front of you, but they turn out ultimately very costly; go for bargaining.
Lots of Indian restaurants are there in phuket & pattaya. We had 19 month old son with us. The Indian restaurants use to cook khichdi, maggi, etc for our baby, but we had carried the raw materials such as rice, dal, maggi, with us. The rice there is little different from india.
Electric kettly is a must to carry for couples with babies as u can boil baby feeding bottles & in emergency can also cook maggi in it. International adapter is again a must to carry (cost around 350Rs) to charge your mobiles.
Maya bay(phuket) is a dream destination, but one has to go with speed boat (4-6 engines), so lots of noise of engines, better to take cotton ear plugs at least for childrens. Also, the speed boats bump a lot in open sea, better to take medicines from home town only like phenargan, etc.
For water sports in pattaya, they first took photograph of yours with speed boat & also sign a contract, & in case of any minor damage to their boat, they charge heavily from 50,000-1.5 lac Rs. So, be careful. Their local police are also like ours only, so don’t expect too much from them.
Pattaya is flooded with massage centres with cost ranging from 150 baht for leg massage to 3000 baht for full body massage. Working in massage centre is socially accepted there. One will get all varieties of meat there; ducks are available instead of chicken. Be careful before ordering non veg meals.
Noong nooch village(entry fee 500baht including elephant shows) is must to see in pattaya. U can photoshoot yourself with your hand over Royal bengal tiger or macau birds at just 100 baht which is not possible in india even u pay thousands of rupees. The orchid farm was just awesome with marvellous terracotta works. The elephants were also very trained & performed difficult jobs like paintings, cycling, etc.
There are lots of shopping malls in Bangkok, with cheap electronic goods like Samsung tablet at just 4000 baht (unbelievable price with bill & international warranty). We have seen many peoples purchasing Samsung lcd/led at 30-40% price less than in india.
The underwater experience at siam ocean world (entry fee700 baht) & the safari world (1100 baht including lunch) are just amazing. It is difficult to see all shows & park in safari world in a same day. So, the urang utang, dolphin & sea lion show are must to see. The sky train serves a very cheaper & faster means of transport in Bangkok. The golden Buddha & the reclining Buddha are just wonderful.
Overall, Bangkok, pattaya & phuket has everything a dream destination should, including beaches, gardens, underwater experiences, zoo & cheap shopping.

Catch up the earlier boat to maya bay to avoid flood of tourist. You couldn't snap a really nice picture with the beach full of tourist,is does too peak especially during calm season at phiphi don.

Ok guys, if you want to really appreciate this place and you are staying on the main Koh Phi Phi, get a longtail boat for a half day and leave as early as the guy will take you, but no later than 7:30am, then you will be one of maybe 3 or 4 boats and its paradise. If you get there after 9:30 the beautiful bay WILL be full of about 200 boats and tons of people. We seen maya bay early but after 30 mins you'll want to get back in the boat and go and snorkel. Again if you are early you will have the area to yourself and the water is crystal clear. If you bring banana/bread you can feed hundreds of fish from your hands and its amazing, you'll want to spend a good amount of time here doing this. Then you go to another very shallow bay which is great if quiet good for pics. Last stop is a little bay where you can feed monkeys banana's. i enjoyed this trip so much i did it twice.

Its a lovely beach as long as you can get there either before or after all the speedboat tours arrive - try going there on an overnight or private charter for the best experience! There are plenty of companies who will take you there I went with Epic Charters who gave us an amazing trip on a motor catamaran
