Average hotel in great location. Far enough away from the outrageously loud music down the beach and a great swimming pool with good beach access.....however
3 hours to check in after not been able to find reservation, hot water is intermittent, balcony door lock broken, tv antenna also intermittent and 2 hours to fix on 2 occasions, mouse in the room, something making noise in the roof, lack of sun beds by the pool.... but there’s a room 3 metres away with a lot stored. Overall didn’t affect our stay all that much and we still had a great week. Just a few things for the hotel to possibly consider as the hotel has so much potential.

The hotel it’s self during the day from the pool is beautiful, however at night the night clubs are so loud it is impossible to sleep.

We booked for 5 nights and forfeited our last 2 nights as no air plugs in the world would shut out the noise.

The hotel it’s self is very run down and in my opinion to large for the staff to handle and upkeep, the breakfasts were very average.

The staff could not speak English , which I have no hassle with but some people may.

Over all a very disappointing stay.

GOOD: location. It is on the main strip in the center of the island. Short walk from the pier, can see to both beaches, and easy walk to shops and restaurants. The pool looks out on the northern bay, which is prettier with fewer boats.

BAD or set your expectations:
- Keys: it’s a keycard like a US hotel chain, but they only give you one. A lost key is 500 baht.
- WiFi: only available in the common areas and difficult to get on. Good once you’re on.
- Credit card: they require you to write down your credit card information. The alternative is a cash deposit, even when the stay is already paid for.
- Cleanliness: poor, even for a tropical environment

tl;dr: good spot for convenience while avoiding a party hostel, but don’t expect luxury

This ranks as one of the worst vacations that I have ever taken, and all because of rude staff, and dirty rooms with bedbugs. The manager Mr. Somsak was especially rude, and made racial remarks. Highly surprising for a country that depends upon tourism for its economy. To top it all off, they delayed our check out, and asked us to pay extra... we called for checkout staff at 11, and they came at 11:45 to pick up luggage, and for that they charged us an hour extra. Highly avoidable, and because of this experience, will think twice before coming back to Thailand.

This is my 3rd time to the Cabana.

To be fair the only reason I booked (again) was the location and (it’s out of the way of the main nightlife, but a quick walk). Comments as follows:

Room:
- 1st of all, I booked a Junior Suite (upstairs with balcony/hot tub and sea view etc).
- Approx Cost USD 300 p/night.
- On arrival we were advised that this was unavailable although we had been “upgraded”.
- Actually got Ground Floor room, indoor hot tub, problem being it looked directly on to the beach/pool, so had to have the curtains closed all the time... in reality, a standard room upstairs for USD 100 a night would have been better.
- Advised reception of my dissatisfaction and they were very polite, but unable to do anything (got the impression they really had no discretion or ability to refund etc, couldn’t be bothered to argue as they seemed so polite).
- Overall the room was clean (if not in need of a bit of decorating/upgrade/furniture - see pictures).

Hotel:
- Empty, in fact felt a little strange (we were the only people at breakfast/by the pool/in restaurant etc - at peak Season).
- Having read all of the bad reviews, was hoping the hotel would have improved. Unfortunately, just seems to have gone down hill and seems.
- Was ok but is in desperate need of upgrading, sad as great location, staff and huge site... seems a waste.
- Pool was empty, no music or atmosphere or anything really (didnt want a pool party but “life” would have been ok!).

Location:
- As above, this is one upside, being close to the boat point and away from the noise.

Massage:
- We did 90 min+30 min facial.
- Cheap and very very good quality, definitely a good point.

Summary:
- Staff were great and very polite (they try their best).
- Hotel seemed unmanaged.
- Since 1st visiting PP 5 years a go, there have been a number of hotels built - at better quality and price etc.
- This is ok for the price and location (if booking a standard room), but to be honest, you could probably do better for overall value.
- DEFINITELY do not was your money on the suite (way overpriced vs standard rooms, and you wont be there much anyway!).
- Hotel lacks energy, atmosphere and people. Seems like an unsustainable business model.

Tip:
- Book Seaview Room by the pool, they looked like the best.
