“Perfect location, beautiful views”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights in January.
The hotel is located very close to ferry wharf, making it very convenient, and it is located on one of the most beautiful beaches of Phi Phi. Our room was old but very big and clean. Pool is massive, with a toddler section, its very clean, but a darkish colour which put the kids off a bit.
breakfast and service was great. Good value for money. With some renovations this hotel has the land size and position to become a 5 star resort

Room Tip: Room 1426 has incredible views over pool and beach

The hotel is conveniently located just 2 mins walk from the Ton Sai bay pier and is close to both beaches. It's slightly away from the busy part of town where it tends to be very noisy at night. We went there on our honeymoon and we were happy with the place overall. Given that there aren't any fantastic 5* resorts on the island, this is the next best thing. The rooms are clean and room service is pretty decent.

This hotel really was perfectly located - it was a short walk from the harbour and a short walk again to all the shops. The pool was gorgeous and the sea/beach was stunning, absolutely breathtaking you could book all the island trips directly with the boat owners here.

The problem was the room. It was genuinely poor, it would be classed as a hostel in my estimation, the shower door was broken, the appliances were old it was a throwback to the 60s. These are in need of a serious update, I could not possibly comment on the cleanliness as it was all so old and rusty it just looked filthy the beds were itchy and I actually chose to sleep in long legged trousers one night because it felt so dirty and as though there were bed bugs. Not at all pleasant. The aircon and the fridge noise was awfully noisy, you cannot block out the sound of the beach party which ends at 3am so join in or look forward to no sleep until it ends.

On a positive the breakfast was okay the drink selections were not great but the food was nice enough if you get there early enough the egg section (omelette ingredients were not replenished) a good selection of fruit and hot food.

The major problem was the staff, the check in staff were genuinely awful and rude, we arrived early were told to wait at the pool for three hours, on our way to the pool we were stopped by a member of staff who shouted at us demanding to know what we were doing there and where we thought we were going, we told him to the pool and he shouted at us telling us the pool was for hotel guests only (not sure why he took against us we were not walking around with our suitcases or huge backpacks we had left our luggage at the front desk) we told him we were and he demanded to know our room number, we explained we had yet to receive this and that we were told to wait at the pool until 2 in order to check in. He made us feel awful, it is not the way a man should speak to females and certainly not the way a member of staff should speak to hotel guests. He did not even apologise. I suggest serious retraining although I am not sure who will provide this training as the check in staff were genuinely abysmal. This all was an unfortunate start in forming an opinion of the hotel staff as after this all the others I had encountered were lovely and helpful although because of the language barrier not all of them could assist sufficiently (customer service is not at the forefront of hotels in Thailand generally they are very matter of fact about problems they cannot solve them or empathise they simply tell you that it is a problem and there is nothing they can or will do, once this is accepted you will enjoy your stay in Thailand a great deal more - this is what happened when I asked about the noise from the beach party they simply said there was nothing that could be done and to basically put up and shut up which you could not argue with as that is the fact of the matter).

There was a great deal of building work talking place which was almost silent so does not disturb you in the slightest, but this does increase the hope of possibly better hotels being build in the area. The location is great but the hotel is really poor not a 4 star and I would not recommend as the rooms really do let them down.

This is a difficult review to write. There are so many positives about the hotel. However, the few negatives can be a deal breaker for some families or couples. The hotel is only a 5min walk from the pier and very close to all the restaurants and shopping including the beach bars, The check it was very fast and the room was ready upon arrival at 11:30am. That was a huge bonus. The location I have to give it a A+ because of the view. Its breath taking, our room overlooked the pool, it was so beautiful. The staff was very pleasant and extremely helpful, drinks and food at the pool bar was also excellent.
The negative is that the hotel is clearly very dated, shower doors were next to impossible to open, the aircon in the room was weak to say the least, the tv was older than me and the noise at night from the beach bars produced this thumping until 2am. Lastly, the surface area around the pool became so hot during the day that you take the chance of burning your feet just walking a few inches.
However, the rooms were very clean and they do provide cotton balls to stuff into your ears if so desired. Would I go back, yes in a heartbeat. The hotel is great for families and couples. We are mid 40 and don't want seclusion just yet. The location is a huge draw along with the view. We paid approx 150.00 dollar US per night, it is high season so that has to factor into the cost. We plan to visit again next year and like I already said we will rebook.

We stayed there during February 2014 for 3 nights, in a room facing the pool and the beach on the third floor.
Pros:
The hotel is located at a very beautiful beach, with excellent views both from the room and from the pool area. Also, the food in the restaurant is of good quality (I ordered the food directly to the pool during the day).
Cons:
During the night there was very loud music coming from two different clubs in the area, so it was hard to sleep at night.
Also, the rooms are very old (furniture and bathroom look bad).

I stayed here with my partner a week ago for 3 nights too long. Phi phi was one of three locations we went to in Thailand and this resort was by far the worst. Service was non-existent, the staff were rude and unlike all other places stayed in Thailand, they never acknowledge your existence. The rooms were awful. The beds were hard as rock, the sheets were dirty, the showers were below par and the room was very out dated. We opted out of housekeeping after money was stolen on our first day. Please be weary. Breakfast wasn't anything special with limited options and food still sitting in tins, would it hurt to put it in a bowl? Not the most appetising. Very noisy at night but I think this would be similar in a lot of resorts in Phi Phi. The pool and views from it were beautiful with easy access to the beach but this is the ONLY positive. For the high price, this resort is not worth it.

My partner & I stayed at the Cabana Hotel for our last stretch of our Thailand escape. When we arrived we were supposed to be given a fruit cocktail & flower necklave upon arrival (which we weren't). We were also given a room number & a specific time to check in as the room wasn't ready. Once it hit 1pm we went to check in to our specified room, to which we were told that it still wasn't ready & that we were being reallocated to another 'deluxe' room (which was 2010 rooms away from the original). Things went from bad to worse.. the bed was as hard as a rock & the pillows were so high you had to use seat cussions to actually fall asleep. The roofing above the shower obviously had a leak (from the drain of the shower above us within the room upstairs), so when you're having a well-below average quality shower, you're being dripped on by freezing cold water from above. we also had someone knock abruptly on our door at 8:40am, & without warning or mentioning who they were, open the door, walk into our room, realise that there were people sleeping in the room or that they very well could have been in the wrong room, walk out and slam the door. To which when i questioned this at the front desk & asked to feed it back to the hotel manager, was told that there was nothing they could do & was fed ridiculous excuses (we weren't even apologised to for being woken up & scared breathless by this unknown person). We also suffered with loud room cleaners who continuously would slam doors, be on the phone talking really loud or yelling to eachother from different floors. the water to our room was switched off, so after using thr toilet, & realisinf you couldn't flush, a phonecall was made to the reception, where we were told "oh yes, the water will be off for 1-2 hours" & was hung up on. We stayed in 3 different hotels whilst we were in Thailand, one in Bangkok, the other in Phuket, but this hotel by far was the worst decision we made on our trip. Despite the convenient location, 2 minutes from the marina & 5 mins from restaurants, shops and bars, I am sure we would have had a much more comfortable & pleasurable stay in a backpackers.
