Zeavola isn't your run of the mill 5 star beach resort. If you are looking for lots of shiny surfaces and marble floors then this place definitely isn't for you.

If however you are looking for a place to unwind, take a deep breath and forget about life back home for a while, then this is definitely the place to stay!

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights in October, after friends recommended it to us as a GREAT place to unwind - and they were right!

It's hard to describe Zeavola as it's more of a mindset than a resort.

The suites are very comfortable but on arrival appear a tad shabby (especially if you have been staying at a flash new villa in Phuket like we had) but once you get into the Zeavola flow you realise that the whole set up is something rather special, clever and different.

The resort has been created in the style of a traditional Thai village and it really works.

The bedroom area of the suites is enclosed and very comfortable. The bed and pillows also get the thumbs up. The living area and outside bathroom are open to the elements but there is also an enclosed bathroom with a large shower, toilet and basin.

Breakfast is included each morning and offers the most fantastic selection and quality - there really is something for everyone! Tony (the adorable executive chef) and his team can't do enough to ensure their guests are happy.

With a huge breakfast under your belt there's no need for lunch but dinner at Zeavola's restaurant is excellent and if you want to do a couple of cheap dinners, head along the beach to Jasmine which serves up great Thai food.

First tip: make sure you book the hotel and the guest speed boat to and from Phuket BEFORE booking your plane tickets. I made the mistake of booking our tickets to Bangkok on a 1pm flight only to find out that the speed boat didn't get us back to Phuket until 12.30pm, so there was no chance of making it to the airport on time!

Second tip: Definitely book the guest speed boat which leaves Phuket Marina at 11am each day. It's more expensive than the ferry but a lot more comfortable and hassle free!

Third tip: If you are feeling adventurous, don't book the resorts long boat to visit the surrounding islands, walk down the beach to the Gypsy village and pay 50% less for the same trip but don't expect a tour guide as they don't speak much english!

This was the biggest disappointment and waste of time of our entire honeymoon trip to Thailand. I booked through Small Luxury Hotels of the World (slh.com) and assumed that it would be in fact a 5 star property. Think back to when you were 9 years old and your parents sent you to summer camp, except it was on the beach and way more expensive. We had planned to stay for 5 days and left the next morning on an extremely expensive speed boat. I told the owner that they totally misrepresented the hotel. He wanted to charge me for the full 5 nights but I was able to talk him out of that. I explained that we expected a 5 start resort and we got "camp"
In the room the bed was so hard, I wouldn't have been surprised if there was a load of bricks under the sheets. I should have known when I saw the mosquito racket in the room that was so dark that you could hardly see the room. The "outside shower" plastic was hanging from a broken piece of wood off of the bamboo. It was so disappointing since we were looking forward to a great beach experience and came so far from the US for the trip. We ended up having to spend a ton of money for last minute reservations elsewhere since we left so suddenly.

Oh and if you do have to stay against your will for some reason, do not tell them that it is your honemoon or a special occassion. They put flowers all over our bed, which normally would be a nice touch, but the flowers had dirty pollen that made our sheets black in certain spots from the pollen. Disgusting, Disgusting, Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do not waste your money, do not pass go, do not bother at all.

My husband and I went to zeavola last August. The hotel is absolutely stunning, exotic location, wide clear beach, friendly staff at your service all the time, and awesome food.

I guess what amazed us the most was the small touches of the hotel presented in a non commercial manner. such as; room service leaves a fresh bottle of water where they found me leaving it in the previous day, there is a beach bag in every suite which became very handy. The manager came to our dinner table every night to chat, get feedback and make sure we are enjoying our time; and the staff took care of us even before our arrival, making sure that we got the right ferry arriving at the right pier. Their email responses were instant.
Very small details that differentiate the place from any other.

Atmosphere: the slogan of the hotel promotes “luxurious barefoot” concept, and they really mean it. So expect a Four Seasons/ Ritz Carlton treatment in a small tropical exotic hotel. However do not expect hotel luxury facility of chandeliers and oriental carpeting. Keep in mind that you are on a tropical island where plants, small animals and sometimes insects are the original inhabitants, so do not be bothered if you see any. We have not encountered anything we didn’t like but just in case.

Rooms: a wooden cabin smells like the forest. We had a garden suite which was spacious with a nice outdoor area and cool indoor and outdoor showers. We have been warned about the privacy issue through trip advisor so we have previously asked for a suite that enjoys privacy, and the wonderful staff put us in a nice suite away from the paths. However when we got there, we found out that it is no big deal with other rooms.

The suite was clean, tidy when we got there, the room service kept it that way along our stay.

Food: high quality, perfectly cooked, everything we had was just delicious. They made some of the best Tom Ka Gai soup I have ever had in Thailand. The service at the restaurant is just amazing, you don’t need to lift a finger to call for a waiter; they are always around however you cannot really feel them. They put so much attention to guests that the day after we did not have to specify certain things like we did the first night, they just got it as a mental note. The restaurant is a bit on the expensive side but not a rip off.
And of course you have the option to walk over to “jasmine” the famous local restaurant for some of the best sea food ever at a very reasonable price.

Spa: Do Not miss the spa experience, our spa treatments were part of the promotion offer that we booked on line. The massage was by far the best I had in Thailand.

Trips: there are snorkeling and diving trips that go to the near by islands, we did one of them visiting the island where they filmed “the beach” which was ok but it was a bit expensive.

Overall, the hotel is strongly recommended, I would defiantly love to go there again.

Stayed here for 2 nights after being in Patong for 5, and it was the perfect end to our Thailand trip! This place is the ultimate in luxury! From the moment you step off the boat you know this is somewhere special! The staff are attentive without being intrusive, and the little touches along the way really make this a memorable place to stay. Do everything, or nothing - it doesn't matter! The cost may be a little more than you're used to in Thailand, but compared to what you would pay anywhere else in the world it's cheap! Worth every cent and I wouldn'y hesitate to recommend to anyone who would like a little piece of paradise!

Transfer from Phuket had a small hitch with the boat but we got to know our fellow guests and the team who looked after us.The manager Florian and his assistant Jealle were professionals but still kept that personal touch. It is slightly quirky but fun and charming at the same time My wife had a small fall ,she tripped and the team could not have been more concerned for her welfare.
The log cabins were very well appointed and comfortableand the breakfasts excellent..We did not enjoy very good weather biut none theless I have nothing but pleasant memories of the Zeavola. Our son did his Padi diving cert and found the tuition professional and safe.We enjoyed various outings ,the location is very quiet and beautifulwith ,great wildlife. If you wanted a change of menu the Jasmine bar/restuarant is 200m away some of the best Thai food I have eaten.

Zeavola Resort is a lovely place, with beautiful rooms immersed in the jungle, caring staff and a great restaurant that serves a wicked breakfast. The beach is good and there are plenty of beautiful islands and snorkeling places nearby (max 30 mins of speed boat or long tail boat).

The only criticism is that the area is not as secluded as you'd think: there are other resorts nearby and many day-trips come there, therefore in good-weather days the small beach gets really crowded and smelly (fumes), ruining the atmosphere a bit

My partner and I stayed in beachfront villa 50 during the last week of October 2010. The setting and service was amazing and the hotel looked after us really well. We especially loved the little messages and gifts left by our bedside each night. The food catered for different tastes and we wouldn't have really need to go anywhere else - except Jasmine, the sea gypsies restaurant was a cheap, tasty alternative.
As you'd expect with a hotel such as this, everything is quite expensive so make sure you've budgeted for it. Having said that, we didn't feel ripped off at any point.
One thing we would say about the location was that Thong Laem beach is pretty remote (part of its charm) so a long boat needed to be chartered to anywhere which you should take into account. Over the days, this cost added up!
The island is perfectly located for Phi Phi Ley and we loved the day trip we had there. The weather was stormy every day but we saw plenty of sunshine.
would definitely go back, not least for the wonderful hospitality we were shown by the manager and his staff.
