This side of the Island is really nice and calm unlike the other parts. P P Erawan is not the best luxurious hotel, but really good value for money and you will find extremely friendly and helpful staff. Food is average but have enough choice. Bad point is that you have wifi only in reception area.
You can take tours from the a Hotel, which is surprisingly cost you the same even if you take them outside the Hotel. But it will be more safe and reliable to take these boat tours from Hotel. Please take tours, do snorkeling or kayaking before the evening as the low tide will not allow you to do any of these.

Room tip: Choose a room near to the Beach and reception. If you are lucky you will be able to use free wifi

If visiting phi phi islands and are looking for that relaxing, picturesque setting in paradise, this location has it..set about 30mins boat ride from the main phi phi town, you will pass quite a few nice isolated beaches but this is the best with a number of other hotels (holiday inn, natural hotel, zeavola) ..all hotels here are of standard accomadation but it's the picturesque view and the beach setting which really justifies the price..phi phi main town is quite dirty in comparison and full of foreign backpackers

Upon arriving at Phi Phi pier we were told that our hotel had not supplied a long tail boat for us, as had been promised. We phoned reception to rectify the situation we were told to pay the 1200 Baht or to wait another 5 hours! When we arrived at the hotel they were completely disinterested in helping us with the situation. The rooms are OK but there is no wifi. Breakfast was good but the beach definitely outshines the accommodation.

Stayed for three nights in November in the standard room. Quiet setting but steep stairs to room.

Inside room was nice. Seasonal size, TV and balcony adjoining. Water pressure in shower is poor but probably to do with lack of water on island. No wifi in the room which let's it down.

Breakfast. . Buffet style, good range, egg station for scrambled, boiled, fried or omelette. Everything was tasty but let down by thousands of flies. If they installed a zapper it would solve this issue.

View and beach are amazing. At one point, there were only about ten people on the whole stretch of beach shared by 4 hotels. Sea is warm and great snorkeling just off land with no need for boat hire.

Activities. . Nothing much in area bar swimming and relaxing. You can hire a long tail for four hours for 1500 to go to a number of places but a speed boat is probably better in a group as it's 6500 for private hire. This is needed to go to phi phi ley. Honestly you could go to both mosquito and bamboo in two hours and have a long time there. We took three hours round trip and did loads of snorkeling there. We did not have to pay a charge for bamboo which other people have mentioned.

Kayak is available for 200-400 for almost the day and well worth it, but apply loads of sun cream as we got savagely burnt in three hours.

Food. There's a shop to the right of hotel about fifty metres down selling basics at usual prices, 20 water 30 soft drink 50 beer.
Jasmine was good portion size and quality but average setting. Cost about 200 for food per person for one main and side of rice.
Sawadee is the hotel restaurant and brilliant service and location but more expensive, around 250-300 for food pp. My advice eat in restaurant and drink on beach after.

All in all great location but let down by lack of free transfer to and from hotel. We paid 1000 long tail here but it's 200 each for ferry or shuttle boat if you're able to wait. Good for relaxing and couples on honeymoon or sea lovers
