“Phi Phi Hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in April 2012 and it was by far the BEST part of my 9 night trip to Thailand. The location was a bit out of the way, about 25 minutes walk from the boat to the hotel but you can purchase direct boat transfers through travel agencys (I work in Travel and know they can supply them) but at the same time walking to the hotel is a great way to see Phi Phi Island!

We were greatly warmly with a welcome reception and drinks then directed to our rooms. The staircase definitely took a few of us by surprize! So many stairs!!! While it is great walking through all the free standing rooms, hiking back and forth up those stairs did get old fast.

The rooms made up for it however! Wonderful sea views and the best deck to sit and watch the sun set over the water. It was paradise, comfortable and relaxing paradise!

Breakfast was yummy. Who doesn't love a all-you-can-eat breakky buffet? Any food from the Hotel was good on that note, and the bar is worth while to check out if you want to stay at the hotel but there are so many great bars and restaurant all within walking distance to the hotel. Any cruisine you are after you can find by the hotel.

I didn't know until the last night that there was a pool. Its locationed quite out of the way and if I hadn't been told about it by fellow travellers I wouldn't have guessed there was one.

** NOTE ** In regards to noise and partying - This is a CONTIKI hotel (travel groups of 18-35 years olds) and while yes there was some noise on returning to the hotel, the actually "partying" is on the opposite side of the Island where all the backpacker hotels are located.

After staying in town on Phi Phi and not enjoying the loud noises throughout the night from the party-goers (3am wake up calls) we decided to walk around the island and find the perfect place. This is definitely one of them. There's really not too much option on PhiPhi, but Bayview was Bliss!
The views from our bungalow were amazing. The location is far enough from town to be away from the noise at night but close enough to walk. The bungalows are on a hill but it's really not too much to walk up. The rooms are good, with nice shower and big bed. Always clean with good size balconies.
After staying in town- this place was heaven!! Highly recommend. Definitely one of the best on PhiPhi.

Okay let me put it in point form shall we..
Pro
1) Great service - staff was very polite & efficient, will help to carry your bag and all
2) great view with hotel personal beach - as some hotel don't have their own beach access
3) at far end of Tonsai Bay so it was really quite after they turn off the music about 10pm
4) not far from all the good restaurant, bar - about 10-15min walks
5) They do serve good food - try all the Thai food from the menu
6) The pool was okay & kiddie pool was attached to it.
7) When the tide it low you can hike to Long beach very near to the hotel. And when I say hike- you really have to hike well at least for 10 minutes.
8) Good room service also - really nice returning to your room after a busy day to see your bed clean, all the water & tea fills up.

Cons
1) They don't really serve 100% halal food so you have to walk to Tonsai Bay to find restaurants or hawker stall that sell 100% certified halal food. - You can try Rimlay Restaurant it's near the Mosque. Or if you're game just search thru the town at night there's a lot of hidden restaurant & shop..
2) well like I said you need to be fit to reach you room as it will be up the hill - when I say up the hill it's really was up the hill. We'll be sweating every time we return to our room ... can imagine that we are staying for 5 days & we have to walk to Tonsai for Halal food then back to our room? Ah well at least I did lose some of my weight instead of gaining it like always thru my holiday
3) If you are hoping to see great coral by snorkelling- this is not the place.
4) Language barrier as not all staff can speak English very well

Well we really did love our stay here & Phi Phi Island in overall - just beware it can be a bit expensive here on the island. Don't straight away buy anything you see the 1st time, walk about you will see another stall will sell the same thing cheaper than the previous ones.

Having read other reviews on here we were aware that there was a climb to some of the rooms , we were nearly on the top row so it was a climb but it helped work off some of the good food we ate , the views were amazing and the room was a good size well equipped for the price with good balcony.there was a pleasant swimming pool with a real treasure of a small massage place set with a backdrop of greenery .

Quite surprised by the number of people moaning about this place - we thought it was lovely

Yes it's set on a small hill but come on, it takes about one minute to reach your bungalow from the beach. It's not the London Marathon

Our room was spacious and came with a pleasant balcony with chairs, a table and sunloungers. The view of the bay is stunning

There have been some negative comments about the bathrooms but ours was fine. But remember you're on a tropical island so don't have a heart attack if you spot, say, a small lizard at some stage

It's a little walk to the main tourist town but that wasn't a problem and it's nice to be away from the noise etc. There is a beach called 'Long Beach' which is a ten minute walk away for those who don't faint at the thought of a small amount of gentle exercise every now and then.

Some people said they found the staff to be rude. That certainly wasn't our impression. There was a longtail boat waiting to collect us at the port and the staff were very helpful in arranging tickets and tours etc. We can recommend a well-advertised snorkel trip by the 'Arisa' group. It's about £30 and runs from morning to sunset and takes in some fantastic snorkelling spots and other sights, including Phi Phi Leh. We had an amazing time.

Our only real criticism was the fact that we had asked for a double bed and on arrival were told they only had a room with two singles. They said if we wanted a double bed it would have to be in a room without a sea view. I suppose that was fair enough. Although the lady on the front desk did literally laugh in my face when I asked for a small discount on the price.

Elsewhere on the island, we enjoyed a walk up to the 'viewpoint' spot, and there are two nice bars close to the resort named 'Hippies' and 'Carpe Diem'. We also ate at a fantastic restaurant just near the pier. It's called Le Grand Bleu and is a sort of French-Thai fusion. We spoke to a dive shop owner who said the people who work on the island swear by it. We would certainly recommend you try to find it - we ate there twice and both times the food was spot-on.

Room Tip: We booked a 'deluxe' bungalow, which was only marginally more expensive. Ask for a sea view.

Phi phi island is as amazing as it is. I stayed at this resort for 2 nights with my contiki group. This resort was quiet and a relaxed place. It's located at the end of the beach and can only be accessed off the beach. It is a fair walk away from the nightlife, and the tide was pretty high when we would come home at night. The view is stunning, and the rooms are old but comfortable. The trek to the rooms is very steep, and there are lots of lizards and creepy crawlies hanging around. Wifi only worked in the hotel lobby. Breakfast was average. Be careful as you enter the rooms, as there is a bit of a step to get over.

The loction of this resort is in many ways great and in some ways bad.
It is located on the end of the beach so you have to walk quite far to the "centre" but that walk is also quite nice and full of nice restarunts and bars. It is quiet and you have a nice part of the beach for yourself - no longtail boats as for the rest of the beach.

The rooms are ok, not more than that. They are built on a hill side so landslide or something have made big cracks in bungalows. Furnitures like cabinets, tv bench etc are "cracked" in many places due to movement on ground. I never felt unsafe or anything it is just that it gave the bunglow a bad impression. The facility/resort itself was good. Poolarea, beach area, reception, staff, restaurant it all was 3+/4 star (Thai-rate) but the rooms were 2+.

The resort is, as mentioned, built on a hill side which makes the way from the beach to the room a struggle. It is very steep walk (and long). We asked for a room near reception due to the children. That was ok, we even could use the free wifi from the reception area.

One good thing that I did not know was that they had a free longtail boat to pick you up and drop you off when you came/left with the ferry!!! That was worth a million!!!

Anyway, it was a good hotel, I can recomend it if yiu get a good deal on it.

Room Tip: Dont look under the bed!!! The cleaning staff dont :-)
