“Nice location, but expecting more from service”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

The hotel has an awesome view from the beach and the rooms are big and comfortable. However, I was expecting much more from the service, given the price I've paid and the reviews I've readed. My room wasn't made up on the last day, what I think it's unforgivable for a hotel like this. Also, they charge you for EVERYTHING and the tours they arrange are often the double or even the triple the offers you can find in the village behind the property.

Service in the restaurants are poor too. You wait a lot to be seated, a lot to receive the menu and a lot for the food. In the last days, I was going myself after the menu because it was just ridiculous to seat there and wait.

They charge you 200THB for the transfer to and from Phi Phi town. And, as the hotel is kind of isolated from the rest of the island, this is the only way to get to the city, unless you want to go for a 40 minutes hike (but only during the day, no electricity at night).

Another downer: wi-fi is only available in the reception area or in the rooms near it. If you stay in a room in the back (as I was), say goodbye to internet.

I think I would recommend this hotel, but the service really needs some improvement.

Room Tip: Ask for a room next to reception area, so you can have the wi-fi signal. And take your repellent wit...

We just left the resort a day ago and are feeling rather disappointed. The rooms are nice however we are staying in a room for $50 a night in krabi and it's 10 times nicer. I was shocked that you pay a decent price to stay in the resort and then they make you pay an additional 200thb for transfers you would think with the price they charge for EVERYTHING at the resort they would have there own boat to free of charge to greet guests as they arrive at the pier. We ate the the marlin restaurant on 2 occasions horrible service both times! Only one good meal out of the four as well. It took forever to be seated,
Longer to get our menus, even longer to get our order taken. Asking for a second round of drinks were impossible and half eaten plates of food would sit on the table as you leave. We couldn't go once it hit dark because the mozzies are so bad and there is no methods used to stop them. There was another 3 tables there when we ate and not one waiter in sight to get our change we waited a good 15 minutes we thought she had taken off with it. Oh when our meals arrived they even ordered a wrong dish but it was to difficult to change it so we just are it.

There is a small village behind the resort and it is amazing and cheap we are at pad thai most lunches and dinners and couldn't fault the place half the price and a lot better service. Cheap cocktails and messages too!

Overall the place wasn't too bad the staff service was terrible for the price you pay (not a lot but still pricey for Thailand). Also didn't leave until the 10.30am ferry however we had to catch the 7.30am boat transfer and was left sitting on the pier for almost 3 hours. While waiting to catch our transfer to the pier I tried to get onto the Internet but they had already cut that off as we had checked out rather disappointing.

Probably wouldn't stay again as there more interested in draining your pockets then offering quality service.

My Wife and I stayed at this great resort for 10 nights in August 2013. It was our second trip here in 2 years, when it was previously known as the Phi Phi Island Village. The difference in ownership was noticable immediately we arrived. The check in process is so much faster now and when they realised this was our second trip, they upgraded us to one of their new compound areas at no charge. The other thing worth mentioning on check in was the improvement with the staff's english which is miles ahead of where it was 2 years ago. I found out later that the resort now provides english classes for most, if not all, staff who work at the resort. If you are looking for a big party resort, this is not it. The resort is catered to couple or families. They do have entertainment every night in the bar and the Coconut Grill that is really enjoyable and, after a few drinks, very easy to sing along with. The restaurants also provide entertainment on theme nights which are also great fun. We spent our first 5 nights in 1 of the compound areas which consists of about 10 or 11 bungalows. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious with a good sized balcony. Even though there are other bungalows in the compound, you do have the feeling of more privacy. After our first 3 nights we asked if they had a vacancy in 1 of the beach front bungalows. This wasn't because we didn't like our first room but because we thought it would be nice to treat ourselves. The staff were able to give us our last 5 nights in room 115 which was right next to the pool. Even though we paid for this upgrade it was a great move. The room was way bigger than anything we have stayed in before and had a jaccuzi and seperate shower - which was huge. The balcony had 2 sun lounges and there was another balcony with a table where we ate dinner under the stars 1 night. You even get your own private front yard and garden!! The pool with swim up bar was just as we remembered..brilliant. There is also a small restaurant near the pool which serves great snacks and meals. The pool is a great place to meet new people and discuss the important issues of the day such as which beer or cocktail will we try next. The beach is great...when the tide is in with beautiful crystal clear water but when the tide is out, it is WAY out. But you can't blame the resort for tidal flows. The staff we met in all areas, bars, restaurants, lobby, guest shop and even the ground and maintenance staff go out of there way to make your stay as special as they can. If you want to see the local way of life, there is easy access via a well maintained path at the rear of the resort which takes you out to a small village that has a number of restaurants, bars and tourist offices for boat, snorkel and diving trips. I would recomend you try a restaurant or 2 in the village as the food is great and the prices very cheap as well. Overall I would strongly recomend this hotel for couples or families who are looking for the best place to relax and still have the options of tours and trips offered at the resorts tour and adventure shops. My wife and I will be definitely heading back there on our next holiday in 2015.

Visited koh phi phi don in november 2012. From our first step on the island till our departure everything was better than perfect!!! We took the Andaman wave master to the island and back, good transportation in first class. The resort charges you 400 bath to get you to and from the boat to shore. The rooms are all sperate beautiful buildings not far from the Beach. The resort has a great swimming pool where you also can enjoy a nice drink. I can't even begin to describe the breakfast area, its stunning!!! And breakfast itself wonderfull! We had dinner in de main restaurant a couple of nights, good food. Just behind the resort is a little street with shops and restaurants, also good.

Even tho we had a room that was a long way away from the facilities and beach, it was very quiet and comfortable. Transport to Phi Phi was efficient and fun. (Remember to have a 20BT available as you get off the ferry for an environmental tax before you enter Phi Phi) At the resort we were welcomed by a nice drink and after some time was shown our room. Pool was amazing as was the beach, 2 for 1 cocktails at the far restaurant on the beach and amazing breakfast. Free internet was not available in room but was available near foyer. Food was very expensive but we ate each night at the quaint little village behind the resort. We also had a massage here and booked a snorkelling tour. It was so much cheaper to deal with the locals in the village. They were very friendly. I found the office staff did not speak very good English and at times it was hard to communicate as was when you rang up room service and enquiries. I found some staff a little rude. The room service tray stayed on our verandah for 2 days, even tho I rang up about it. We had a very cracked coffee cup in our room, I rang up and asked at office 6 times to have it replaced but it was not. I eventually took it to the office to be replaced but again it wasn't. Great location. Worth a stay, especially when specials are on.

Room Tip: Front beach rooms, even tho handy did not have the privacy as the back rooms had.

You can't fault the actual resort it is set in a lovely bay, the pool area is a wow with infinity pool, jacuzzi & swim up bar, the bungalows you stay in are great & have everything you need, wooden lodge like rather than modern, various choices to dine BUT there were many factors that let them down...

Firstly the location, when you arrive by ferry at Tonsai Port you have no other way to get to the resort other than by long tail boat they charge an additional 200 THB per person to get there and this must be pre-booked. Once you are at the resort you are pretty much stuck there, they only have one shuttle time 10.30am into the main town centre Tonsai Port again having to pay 200 THB per person one way. The return shuttle is 3.00pm. If you want to travel at any other time the taxi longboat service is charged at 800 THB per person in the day and 1000 THB in the evening, you have no other choice when staying at the resort, we decided to move to a hotel in long beach where it was only 100 THB or a 20min walk.

Secondly the staff, considering the majority of nationalities common language communication is English the staff at the resort had appalling English language skills, not just at reception but at the restaurants and recreation centre when booking tours this was almost impossible when asking questions they just didn't understand and we resorted to sign language and pointing! Not just the language barrier but also the rudeness of the restaurant staff, they were clearly frustrated when you asked questions, were not welcoming, did not go out of their way, you had to ask for everything and some of them just looked liked they didn't want to be there, no smiles :(

Lastly was the pricing, in comparison to Krabi and also restaurants in the town the prices were extortionate, for an evening buffet we paid 700 TBH plus 17% tax and drinks the food on the buffet was cold, not replenished enough and I expected better quality.

Best tip if you are staying here; there is a small village behind the resort if you walk through the recreation centre, we had an amazing Thai dinner at Oasis restaurant, the setting was small and intimate, authentic wooden tree house feel, all ingredients are fresh, you can see through to the kitchen as they are making it, I had the best chicken satay and pad Thai noodle! We got chatting to our server/chef a Thai lady called Pat who has lived on phi phi for 25yrs her English was better than the hotel staff, she was extremely friendly, smiley and couldn't do enough for us. In the area there are also many small local bars doing happy hour cocktails & beers to take advantage of.

To summarise; lovely resort and great if you just want to relax, we wanted to explore phi phi so it was not a great choice due to the secluded location.

We stayed here for three nights. This was a good amount of time though we could have done 4 or 5 if you like snorkeling and diving. There are tours that leave from the resort and we felt safe on them. We stayed in the superior bungelo which was big and comfy. Each is spread out- the resort felt very private. Dining is good here but be sure to check out phi phi village- it's just behind the resort. There are bars and shops but dining by the beach at the resort is a must do. The main area of phi phi for bars is about an hours walk or a long boat ride. We didn't get there as we wanted to relax.
Bring your runners as there are some great hikes on the island. You can hire a snorkel too- we walked in the ocean and still saw tropical fish.
Please note you do go by long tail if you catch the ferry from Phuket. The resort actually offers a speedboat to Phuket. We think it would be worth it for next time so contact the resort.
