real paradise, amazing Resort , everything you see in the pictures is a reality, the team is very warm every request is answered, we had bungalow 321 Superior room (standard) - really excellent and should not be more than that, the breakfast excellent, other activities quite expensive and you should eat in the evening in the village near by there is an excellent restaurant and we ate fresh fish every night, the only one disadvantage is that in order to reach the center of the island "tonsay bay" you should take long tail boat with at least 800 bat in each direction(for a boat),the boat of the resort 2 times a day 12.00 &17.00-is cheaper 200bat/person.

Spent four nights here for our 25th wedding anniversary.

Loved the remote location and hassle free location. Great pool area with a well kept private beach area.

Very romantic location with happy friendly staff.

Be sure to either walk or boat it into Ton Sai Bay which is a great vibrant little village made up of restaurants and markets.

Would love to return one day !!!

My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights at the resort in October on a short weekend getaway. The resort is extremely beautiful with fantastic rooms and an amazing view. The service was great and food was good. We stayed in a superior bungalow and for most couples, that should suffice unless you really really want a seaview. The resort is quiet and secluded, which was one of the draws. The staff at the activity centre were helpful and the services reasonably priced. Only a couple of things fell a little short. The beach was nice but the boats that frequently came to and left the resorts did cause the water to be a little turbid, taking away some of the beauty of the bay. The mosquitoes were also out in full force throughout the day. Although the resort did try to help by sealing their bungalows rather well and have control measures in place in their restaurants, the fact that their restaurants are largely open air and pools of water were left standing all around the resort did make the mosquito situation quite unbearable. Otherwise, the trip was amazing.

I Have now very mixed feelings about this hotel as It is definitely not of a 5 star hotel as it claims to be but the location is amazing and the size of the room good. However you immediately have the feeling that they are here to take advantage of you. They want you to pay for your stay upon arrival whilst your room is not yet ready. The wifi is only available at reception and not in your room......and you have to collect a 2 hour voucher at reception everytime. This again is not of a 5 star standard. I actually don't think I have ever been in a 5 star hotel without having free wifi access everywhere....and this is certainly the case in the Shang Ri La in Bangkok or even in European 5 star hotels.
We booked a superior room which is their standard room and I was surprised not to see a bathtub in the bathroom.
There is only a shower which is not in a great condition. I have then asked reception to see if there was any room with a bath tub and I had to phone them back 2 or 3 times to get an answer: apparently only the beach villas have bathtubs and I would have to pay an extra £150 a night ......just for a bathtub!
I have stayed in quite a few 5 star hotel and I have always had a bathtub. Besides the shower looks really old and tattered, again not really 5 star!
The towels to be used at the pool have holes in them and fresh water and fruit don't seem to be given to guests as they normally are in 5 star hotels in Thailand.
Phi Phi has now become a very touristic island and you can denitely feel that hotels take advantage of tourists!!!
As I first started my trip in Bangkok and Lanta where I stayed in amazing 5 star hotels where the service and the hotel are so perfect that the Phi Phi island beach resort seems comparatively really disappointing and very expensive...

Dear DeborahGoldweis,

Thank you for taking time to share your experiences from your recent stay. We apologize if elements were not up to your expectations. As of November 3, Outrigger has taken over management of the property and is presently doing a full review of the facilities and services (including WiFi). This was our second stay on Phi Phi and we decided to try PPIVBR for a change. The resort is amazing as would be expected, we couldn't help but compare some aspects with our previous stay (the first resort in the next bay).
Starting with the negative:
The biggest let down unfortunately would have to be the price of food and alcohol, be prepared to pay western prices. Some will say you are staying in paradise and this is to be expected, but we have stayed at a resort very similar and can confirm there is a huge difference (unless prices have doubled in 3 years??)We noticed the resort was peppered with restaurants, swim up bars and beach side bars, yet no one was drinking or eating. I would have sat in the pool drinking cocktails all day if not for the inflated pricing. And as for food we would have loved to have eaten on the beach, but the price was just cheeky. There are plenty of options in the village behind.
Customer service is a real let down at times with "Chick" in the cafe no doubt ruining a few guests days with his attitude. Quite a few of the staff seem to be less than happy judging by the lack of smiles or effort to please, maybe there is something going on behind the scenes? Either way it can't go un mentioned.

On the plus side:
There are definately some special staff members currently in employment with "Petch" really making our stay, she was something else. Her side kick "O"?(hmm unsure of spelling) all of the drivers, the activity lady and another handful whose names I'm unsure of.

The rooms at PPIVBR won in comparison with tidy workmanship and very clean. The pool also was much larger. More variation in eating options with 3 restaurants and the neat little village behind the resort . The beach was surreal with no waves and chest height water 100m out from the beach.

To sumarise, I would definately return and would suggest this resort to friends in a flash. It just seems someone is making bad business decisions in regard to the inflated food and alcohol prices that were driving all the guests we spoke with to the village behind.

If prices are reduced slightly beach and poolside consumption will soar.

Room Tip: Superior bungalows are excellant value for money. We upgraded to a hillside villa which was amazing...

Dear Kiwifruitkilla

Thank you for the heartfelt comments and taking time to share them with us. We are working to ensure that all hosts (staff) in contact with guests give them the smiles and attentive service they expect and deserve when staying with us. We apologize if in one or two instances we fell short. Outrigger formally takes over the management of the hotel on November 3. Among many areas we will be addressing, we will be conducting a full food and beverage review. We are fully committed to giving all our guests at Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort and Spa the best service available

We regret only booking one night at this beautiful resort and I am determined to go back some time in the soon future. The location of the hotel is on maybe the best part of the island with clear turquoise water and beautiful palm trees. The resort is quite large with a couple of restaurants/cafe, a gift shop and a wonderful spa. We booked a 4 hr spa package and loved it!

Great location, nice rooms, great service and great food!

Room Tip: make sure to get a ocean view!

Me and my fiancee spent a few nights here in September. The resort is beautiful. If you are looking to 'get away from it all' then the island beach resort is for you as it is on the other side of the island from the main pier and there are only a few boat rides back a day .The superior bungalow that we stayed in was nice although the mattress was a little hard. The resort has a big swimming pool overlooking the private beach with plenty of sunbeds. There were two resturants open in the evenings when we were there, these are a little expensive compared to all the other places we visited in Thailand. I would return to this resort as it simply is a little piece of heaven.
