“over our expectations, exclusive stay”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Apart from the time spent traveling to the resort (a whopping 4h30mins ferry ride), Holiday Inn Phi Phi is a perfect place to stay. I am traveling with 3 friends and we booked 2 rooms. Upon arrival, the staffs are very helpful and I felt our arrival was well-taken care of. The check-in process was very smooth. As they know we are a group of 4, they arranged our rooms to those that has door connections within the room which the resort only have a few of these rooms. The room was over our expectations, it was great. Apart from getting mosquitoes bites, we are good. (Get the mosquito repellent from the shop) The nature surrounded us was wonderful. Food at their restaurant was ok and the sunset bar was awesome! A romantic spot for couples, however we enjoyed too! There was a problem with the water heater in my friend's room - we checked with the front desk and the staffs were attentive and helpful. We were also steps to the beach area for the resort guests and there a plenty of beach chairs and beds for us to use. It was a very relaxing place and we truly enjoyed our exclusive stay in Holiday Inn Phi Phi in an exclusive part of Phi Phi Island.

It was also a very good location to travel out from this area for snorkeling and island hopping trips if you like. An hour to Maya Bay and less than 20 minutes to Bamboo Island and Mosquito Island. We arranged 2 snorkeling trips from the hotel and it was good. Holiday Inn Phi Phi has everything you need.

Stunning resort with stunning rooms. Two pools to choose from. Perfect for someone who wants to relax as there are no shops around. The restaurants are limited and a little pricey. Overall we had a lovely stay here and will go back.

The Holiday Inn Phi Phi was the second stop in our honeymoon. We had to use the ferry leaving from Ao Nang Pier to get there and although the ferry does try make it somewhat bearable with the aircon inside it is still a long and hot trip. Arriving at Tonsai Pier we wondered where we had to head to as there are loads of people all around you and locals wanting to sell you transport to wherever you need to go. We thought to just ignore them for now and carried on walking down the pier until we found the Holiday Inn's longboat and someone holding up a sign with our names on it (very helpful). We just couldn't get over how clear the water was all around us and were very much looking forward to this hotel.

It took about 20 - 30 min (if i had to guess), to get to Laem Tong bay where the hotel is located and were immediately impressed with the surroundings. Hopped off the longtail and the driver helped take our bags to shore. At the reception we were greeted with a cold face towel and mocktail drink while they sorted out our check in. The process was smooth and simple and we were told we were upgraded to the beach bungalow (nice bonus) and then followed a porter to our room. The first thing we noticed about our room is how secluded you are in general and it does have a nice feeling of privacy. However, some of the bungalows are double units sharing a common wall which does remove that nice private feeling as you can hear the other people through that. Opening the door you're greeted with a very welcome blast of cool air. This is something you'll appreciate during your stay here. It's extremely hot on the island during the day and keeping to your room during the worst of it is a good idea.

The room is spacious, has a changing room with cupboard and a bathroom. The bed is huge and very soft and the bathroom has all you need with plenty of towels and soaps and things. The hotel provides for bottles of water per day free of charge which helps quite a bit. We explored the hotel after unpacking and were surprised to find that the hotel actually has a lot of different activities available and you're able to get snorkels, kayaks, and so on for free to use during the day.

The food was good at the hotel, although (aside from the breakfast) was just a little too pricey to keep eating all the time so we tried out some of the other places in the bay area. The breakfast was great though and had a nice variety. The only criticism is the number of flies that find their way onto the foods that aren't covered, which I would imagine is a challenge for any hotel in the area. Still, they could improve on that aspect but it didn't detract from being a nice start to the day.

On one of the days (I think it was a monday) we received a little note to meet at the sunset bar. Curious we made our way up there to find a nice little snack table laid out and we were given a cocktail to enjoy. This was an opportunity for the manager to meet guests and for supporting business, like See Bee's, to approach guests with information about their services. It was a nice gesture from the hotel and we enjoyed it. It was also the second time we had visited this bar in our time there as the hotel had given us a coupon for a bottle of champagne (due to us being a honeymoon couple) which we enjoyed while watching a sunset there.

The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. I would have appreciated for them to be more fluent in english as it does get tiresome to keep having to explain using minimal english the things you're wanting. It's however a general trend in Thailand and I hope that by the next time that we're visiting this hotel that they would have maybe tried to help train their staff to be more fluent.

The hotel shop is quite reasonable on their prices and we popped in each day to get ourselves an ice cream or some water or snacks during the day.

All in all this was by far the best hotel of our honeymoon and we can recommend it to anyone else that wants to visit the area. It's also the perfect base for your scuba diving with See Bees being situated at the hotel and you'll find plenty to keep yourselves occupied or if you want to relax there's plenty of that in a truly picturesque environment. We were sad to leave.

Room Tip: Almost all the rooms look like they would be good choice. We had originally chosen a garden bungalow...

We spent our honeymoon in this wonderful resort last October.

The stay was perfect. We were greeted by the hotel management upon arrival and taken care of until our luggage was dispatched to the rooms.

Throughout the stay, the staff and management is doing its best to care for your every need!! We were very appreciative and grateful.

We stayed at the more recent coral wing. The room was modern, spacious, properly maintained, comfortable with enough power sockets, mini-fridge, flat screen TV with HDMI cable that you can connect to a tablet (we did), indoor and outdoor showers (we didn't like the indoor shower, so used the one outside, which was fun).

The beach is amazing. There's an area just in front of the coral wing here you can snorkel and see some nice fish. A lot of fun sitting quietly with a book below the trees or in the sun. There's also food service from the restaurant to the beach, so that's fun, too.

I bought a 3G prepaid card in Phuket airport, so we didn't use the hotel's Internet, but if you do the same, take AIS. We had relatively poor coverage in the hotel area with a DTAC card.

We used the services of the excellent dive center in the hotel for dive trips to nearby islands and enjoyed a wonderful dive with sharks.

The food in the hotel was excellent. I recommend eating breakfast in the main dining room, as the selection is significantly more impressive than in the Coral wing mini restaurant. There are also nice restaurants in nearby hotels, so it's worth walking along the beach to the next hotel, where they serve a reasonably priced sea-food platter. Don't go to the restaurant at the end of the beach. It looks attractive with all the lights, but people we met told us horrible stories about indigestion problems after eating there.

Not too much to do for young couples in terms of partying, but for a quiet honeymoon, it's perfect.

Ferry recommendations: If possible, take the morning ferry out of Phuket to Phi Phi and return with the same one in the afternoon on your departure date. It has a very cheap ($10 supplement per person) VIP area and even in the regular area, it's less crowded than the other ferry.

Room Tip: We had a room in the new coral wing, on the upper floor. It's a couple of minutes walk from the...

This is our 7th visit to the beautiful holiday inn phi phi island. From the moment you set foot on the beach you know you are in paradise. The setting is the best, a coral reef on your door step with free snorkelling equipment is great. The acknowledgement as a returning guest was amazing, flowers on the bed, staff recognising us and a card from the manager was a lovely touch. Can,t wait to go back!

My Wife and I went there for our honeymoon (12 nights)

It is not only a FANTASTIC LOCATION but the studio are nicely decorated, the food and drink are top class, there's good evening entertainment and finally the customer service was EXCEPTIONAL!!

The staff was very friendly and could speak very good english. Very well trained, they knew exactly what to do in all situations.

Carol (GM), Jay (Assistant GM), Dear (Manager), Phi (Supervisor) just to name a few made our stay the BEST EVER.

I am used to travel round the world and stayed in many hotels including other Holiday Inn, but the level of caring and service we received in Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island is unmatched!

When we faced a problem with one of the taxi boat driver the HOLIDAY INN management team used a local taxi boat driver to get us back asap to our hotel, they did not charge us any of the journeys, apologised and upgraded our room to a sea-view studio!

Jay, Dear and Carol handled it very very well!!

In conclusion, my wife and I were made very special on our honeymoon and I hope to come back again one day.

We stayed in other hotels in Thailand with "more stars on the paper and more expensive" but nothing compare to the experience lived at Holiday Inn Phi Phi island.

TOP CLASS, 10 OUT OF 10!

Kind regards,
Olivier & Carol

I'm writing this review on our last night here. Overall our stay has been quite pleasant but there have been a few let downs that have certainly made life more difficult for us staying here with a 3 year old and a 1 year old.

Firstly, the good things! Beautiful location, friendly staff, clean and functional. Although our kids are too young to leave in the kids club unattended our little ones still loved it.

Breakfast was included in our package and was nice enough, although we had just spent a week in the Holiday Inn in Phuket and comparison it did fall a little short of the mark. One morning not only did we contend with our active toddlers running around but we also had to fend off cats, birds, flies, lizards, Chinese tourists using our children as a tourist attraction and photo opportunity, but there were also electrical wires left out from the previous evenings performance that I packed away for the staff. There are no straps on the high chairs so our 1 year old was constantly trying to climb out. None of this makes for a relaxing start to the day.

There are two pools. We didn't use the infinity pool as a sign says its for adult use only. This would be fine by me but the other pool isn't great for kids. The tiles on the edge are chipped and sharp, so a hazard for little ones. Many people smoke around the pool. I also had to collect empty beer bottles and cans from around the edge of the pool. Again, not great when you have little ones.

We only ate in the restaurant once in the evening. Food was nice enough but very over priced. The cheese is sitting it with flies on. Also there was liquor in some of the deserts and this wasn't labeled on them. Our 3 year old had her first taste if alcohol. Hmph.

On 3 occasions in a 7 day period our room wasn't made up until after 5pm and I had to call to request they were done. Not great when you are organising naps and the room we stayed in really wasn't that aesthetically pleasing anyway, although comfortable and functional. The air con is so noisy too. Makes sleep a bit difficult at times!

This is probably a great place to stay as a honeymoon destination or for a quiet getaway, but I wouldn't recommend staying here with tiny kids.
