“hotel in the market”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Great hotel in Phi Phi Island, the cost of accommodation on the island. It is located in the center of Tonsai, where restaurants, markets, bars, beach and harbor are within walking distance. Very quiet hotel, rooms are spacious and clean, the Wi Fi. For electronic door locks deposit of 600 THB. Liked to stay in the hotel!

Room Tip: taken into a room with a view of the market, amazing

Simple nice rooms centrally located in the village. Very close to the beach. Pretty quiet but a lot of light at night from nearby businesses. Staff kept a watchful eye and gave a helping hand. Price seemed fair for Phi Phi Don. Place is not fancy or hip but clean and pleasant.

Convenient to the pier and all the action and to both beaches near to town. Expensive for what it was as the room was very very basic and grubby and relatively expensive $AU37.50 a night. Basically they treat you as a backpacker with rules all over the place and price lists for EVERY item in the room. Doors locked at 7pm so not even reception open late. No tea or coffee facilities in the room or even a kettle (there was one in a grubby area behind reception). You HAVE to book through Agoda so you pre-pay your accommodation and then they ask for a 1000B deposit which seems a bit rude.

We were only there two nights and there seemed to be lots of other choices which were both cheaper and nicer ie SeaView and Pirates.

Would not recommend.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Insula for a week and were very impressed. It took us a while to find a hotel on Phi Phi that wasn't ridiculously overpriced but that was still of a good standard as we were staying for a while The Insula is clean, secure, friendly. It is well located, away from the noisy end, but still in the centre of it all. We highly recommend it and would stay here again, but book in advance as the island can get very busy, even in low season.

A comfortable retreat on Phi Phi island. Clean sheets and floors, homely, equipped with basic amenities, A/C, nice hot water showers, free bottled water, WIFI equipped. Staff are polite. To keep unsolicited visitors out, PP Insula requires guests to tap their key card at the main entrance to access the building between 730PM till late. The inn is very close to the pier, right in front of the market stall which sells deep fried Thai snacks and local food. Right beside the inn are two local convenience stores and a gold jewelry store. Since its walking distance (but not too close) to the beach where the night party scene takes place on the further end of the island, the inn is not too noisy at night.

Great location just a short walk from the pier. Clean rooms. Friendly atmosphere. Only negative would be that out on the balcony there was a smell from all the food cooking from the market, but you cant smell it when balcony door is closed. You can't really get much for your money on koh phi phi so for a budget hotel it was good.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is to the back of the hotel so that you don't get the stink of the fish mark...

We enjoyed our stay here . I dont see any big deal of the comments before saying that there are too many signs stating their house rules . Those are just common rules for a nice and clean environment . No smooking , slippers up to lobby , please be quite , well , those rules are good rules.. Event there is no slippers up to our room , our room are still sandy , because we went to the beach . Imagine if we can wear our slippers or shoes up to the room , the cleanliness of the room would be severely compromise .

Toilet was super clean and big enough . Water pressure was good . Lighting was good .

We got a top floor room , so there was a nice view . The only issue we had on a top floor is that our aircondition took a long time to cool the room down in extreme heat of phi phi . On the top floor , you can feel the heat comming through the simen wall and roof . But by night , it will be cool .

Room Tip: Get a high floor if you want view , choose a low floor if you want cool .
