Amazing and quiet location on Phi Phi island. We were lucky to get B block with a beautiful ocean view. Enjoyed most nights relaxing on the balcony with a bottle of Singha, with background music coming from the bars at the main area. Good WiFi connection/speed. On tv there are 70 channels to view + 2 channels of the pier (Lol)

Rooms are small and weirdly lit (blue light?). Bathrooms are even smaller and open air. I wonder how the Europeans fit into the bathrooms as it is already small for us Asians. Weird shower (Green light comes on for cold water and red light for hot water). I really feel like I'm at a nightclub with all this funky lights. Breakfast was a letdown. Same food everyday and bee/fly swarming the buffet.

Overall its a lovely stay for me. Check out the bar with the boxing ring at the main area. Saw a couple of drunks, two err over weight dudes and a couple of girls fighting in the boxing ring. It was hilarious!

Room Tip: Take the B block (Bali) for the best view

We were struggling to find a decent boutique hotel on Phi Phi but thought that this one ticked all the boxes, how wrong we were! On the positive side if things its in an amazing location right on the beach about 10 minutes pleasant walk from the pier and busy end of Phi Phi and the receptionist was very good.
However the rooms aren't quite what they seem in the pictures, they are shabby and need updating. Our sideboard was literally hanging off the wall and there weren't many lights which made getting ready interesting. The bathroom is open to the elements which was fine but again, it needs updating. The shower was the worst I've ever used, barely a trickle! We were so unimpressed by the room that we actually thought about changing hotels
The breakfast wasn't bad but most of the buffet was left uncovered and attracted loads of flies so steer clear of that.
We walked into Phi Phi every night and there is a good selection of cheap restaurants and a fantastic bar that I now can't remember the name of that these amazing fire dancers from about 930pm.
We also did a private longboat tour using a company just outside the hotel, go early to avoid the crowds. They took us to some stunning beaches and islands.
Really wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel but loved Phi Phi.

After looking at lots of hotels on Phi Phi, we chose Mama as it looked very modern compared to most of the other hotels on Phi Phi. We weren’t prepared to pay £500 for 4 nights at Outrigger or Holiday Inn and Mama was half that price (but still the most expensive hotel during our time in Thailand).

I managed to book the last 3 available rooms and so we got a delux garden view, a grand garden view (both in block D) and a delux sea view room (block A). If you do have the choice, block B has the best sea views. Our seaview room id say was a partial view due to a big banana tree, but still very nice. Rooms are a good size, very clean and contemporary and the bathroom was cool. We were slightly apprehensive as it is open to the elements but we didn’t see one bug in here during our stay and the room was sprayed with repellent every night, just in case. Bed was big and very comfy and towels changed daily. Rooms cleaned early in the day. The Grand room seemed to have better drawer space and a long freestanding mirror whereas the delux rooms did not, just one wardrobe. TV with a couple of American channels was handy as we were ill for some of our time in Phi Phi and so we watched back to back Friends and Storage Wars-not exactly what I wanted to do on holiday but useful nonetheless! Wifi was available in the rooms and in the grounds and was a good speed.

Grounds are nice-pretty gardens with some new wicker style sun loungers and a swinging chair. The decking doubles as sun beds in the day and dining at night, which was lovely having dinner right next to the sea and sand. You can also have a Thai massage on the beach while looking out and at £9 for 1 hour, we should have had more! The resort has no pool but I didn’t miss this at all. In fact, adding a pool would spoil this resort I think.

Food was very good. They have a French chef and the Chicken and Steak (with dauphinoise potatoes) were lovely and very well priced. The beach bar does some good cocktails and is reasonable priced. Wine, like everywhere in Thailand, is expensive at £6 for 125ml (cheapest I found wine was £4 per glass in Krabi).

The only thing that lets this hotel down is the breakfast. Not because of the standard of food which is good, but because they don’t cover anything over and so flies swarm the pastries, bread, pancakes, etc. For this reason I didn’t each much at breakfast as it really put me off. Fruit was brought out from the kitchen so hopefully that wasn't affected but who knows!

Location wise, it was perfect really, as it is about 5 minutes walk from TonSai pier, on that side of the island. The guys at Mama beach took our luggage for us each way which was a great help. If you’ve seen the film ‘Couples Retreat’ then Phi Phi reminded me of it! On the Mama Beach side it is the quiet side, and on the other is the party side. We nearly chose the Cabana Hotel but glad we didn’t as guests would no doubt hear the music every night on party side. We, however, couldn’t hear anything when in our rooms. The party beach was just a 15 minute walk away through the town centre.

Mama beach is a boutique hotel with just 24 rooms and I really enjoyed staying here. The staff were very friendly and have good sense of humour, the location was great with a lovely beach (pretty cool when the tide goes out too) and the views stunning. Plus we saw monkeys on the beach! For £10 each we got a private boat trip to Maya Beach and also did some snorkelling which is well worth it as the fish are a rainbow of colours. I’d love to return to Phi Phi again and would definitely choose Mama beach again.

Room Tip: Block B. Block D has no sea view at all, just of Block A in front of it. Grand rooms seem the bigges...

Location very nice. Quiet end of the beach, lovely views on to the Bay. Good sized rooms, clean and comfortable.

Negative points :

Not all rooms had a great view. Some behind trees or other buildings.
Small annoyances, the umbrellas they lend you were mostly broken. And you will need them if it rains! They ask you to take your shoes of in the room and Wear the slippers they provide but the rooms had no slippers. Neither of these things are expensive so it seems like cutting corners to not have them and the hotel isn't cheap!
Overall, good but could be better.

Jaq Dropping...these are the words I have to describe the location of this resort. I was there for my honeymoon for 2 nights and was blown away with the breathtaking view around the resort.

On arrival via ferry from Surat Thani a person ahd been stationed at the pier to pick us up. We had a lot of luggage and it would have been impossible for us to manage without him. On reaching we were greated with a welcome drink while we waited for our room to get ready. The room, in itself, was beautiful. Unobstructed view of the sea through the glass doors was amazing. You could just sit there and watch the crystal blue water all day long.

Food- Did not try the food at the hotel so cannot comment on that.

Room Service- Room Service was satisfactory.

Location- This is where this resort scores over all the others in Phi Phi. I had done considerable research before going and we were glad that we chose this place over others. On one side is a towering cliff while on the other, in a line, are other resorts. This is the last resort on the island and so the noise is lesser.

Room Tip: Select one of the front rooms facing the Sea. The glass doors give an unbelievable view.

We (a couple at 50ies) stayed 4 nights in this hotel at the end of September and really enjoyed a staying. Staff was helpful, room was clean and well kept. This hotel is not so suitable for those who like to stay just in hotel - no swimming pool, no room service or gym but for those who like quiet staying at a beach, good french style food and polite service - it is the place. Hotel located in 10 min walk from center of Tonsai village and pier and has luggage delivery service (Koh Phi-Phi does not have any cars).
Hotel restaurant and bar are good even by European standards.

Room Tip: Hotel located just a few meters from the hotel private beach so sea front rooms have better sea view...

We had heard mixed reviews about Phi Phi - some people saying it was paradise, others saying to avoid as it's the Ibiza party island equivalent in Thailand. We loved it, and we put that down to the location and standard of Mama Beach. As some of the other reviews have stated. It's about a 10 minute walk from the pier/central area, however the walk is along sandy paths along the beach shore so it's a beautiful walk. The centre is very crammed and busy and at night you can hear the loud thud and beats from the music from the party side of the island (the opposite side to Mama Beach) so I would say the further out the better. The island is tiny anyway so everywhere is accessible and within walking distance.
The hotel itself is the further point along the beach and when we approached by boat, we actually said to each other 'hope we're staying there' - so we were delighted when that came true.
It's right under a gorgeous cliff face where you will see rock climbers daily. Monkey's come out from the forest area surrounding which is just gorgeous to watch.
The hotel rooms are of a good standard - better than basic, but not over luxurious. Clean, modern though with air conditioning, fridge, safe, free wifi, cleaned daily. The bathrooms are probably the worst feature. They are open with curtains and no where near as modern as the rooms themselves. Showers aren't great, but do the trick. The doors to the bathroom are more like shutters so we were always paranoid about mosquitos coming through at night when the lights were on.
Nice touches from the hotel include meeting you off the boat at the pier, free luggage carrier to and from the pier, also every evening a lady comes round and knocks on your door and sprays bug spray in the bathrooms and rooms which we thought was good.
There is a massage area at the hotel, bean bags and padded loungers out the front and even yoga on the beach!
Bar area is really cool and occasionally there is a live band. You can dine at the restaurant right on the breach front - although we never did so can't comment on the food.

Room Tip: Top tips - definitely request/pay for a beach facing room as the view is stunning and you have a lov...
