Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel and will never be returning!! It's disgustingly over priced, your only paying for the views, yet even then we were told to keep the balcony doors closed at all times due to big Mosquitos! The showers were disgusting, our sink was leeking bad and the room in general was just very unclean. Our door didn't even lock properly and it was only by chance after many attempts that the workers locked it for us.The steps leading up to it was certainly a pain too!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

I didn't notice on any of the other reviews if they had any difficulty finding the place but its not on any of the tourist maps, the hotel is placed just below the viewpoint and is IMO kinda difficult to find if you were new to the island like we were! Fortunately we looked so lost a local person asked us were we okay and one of the staff from the hotel was beside us! lucky us! A member of staff came and met us and carried all our stuff to the hotel which was great!

Just before we got to the hotel we were met by this mountain of steps about 150+ i would guess which are all completely different sizes and uneven, Luckily for 20 bath each the staff carried it up which was brilliant. I personally didn't mind the climb but my girlfriend nearly cried in the 35+ Degrees heat! and that was only to the reception.

The Arboreal has probably the best views in Phi phi and you can see both beaches from the reception. The arboreal itself seemed quite run down imo, and looks noting like the pictures on the website or here and had rubbish being burnt below the reception stairs. We checked in and had to climb another 75+ steps to our room.

We got to our room and we were met with a wall of heat...even the staff member was like woah.. Our room was boiling hot and we just had to go straight to the balcony to get fresh air. I personally thought this was pretty bad management considering the heat outside not to at least turn on the air con to have the room cool. The room had a strong smell of cigarettes which was enhanced by the heat. The bed looked clean but the covers were covered in stains so hard to say and smelled like the room, The water was left out on the counter top and was as warm as tea. The bath room was okay seemed clean the shower area had a small bit of mold which was coming from the lack of ventilation in the room. Shower was nice but had no warm water. Bed was comfy and air con worked but really slow to cool the room down. The room was okay overall looked pretty run down since those pictures where taken.

Overall the place is not the worst place i have ever stayed. Its pretty decent to okay at best and could do with a bit of money being pumped into it and the rooms being totally made over. The views from the hotel and our room were amazing. Free wifi which is always nice but only in the reception. The sleep quality for me was good but my Girlfriend was eaten alive during the night and didnt sleep well at all, it was like some one held her down and shot her all over her legs with a BB gun! The staff were very nice as other people commented. The breakfast was not great but eatable, we had the choice of the American which consisted of the choice of scrambled, 2 fried or 2 boiled eggs a thumb length Frankfurt sausage and a slice of ham. Two slices of toast, coffee and juice!

Room Tip: Deluxe room has an amazing view! But just go stay in Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort and Spa this pl...

Staff is SUPER Friendly, and the location.. well, if you get a good room, the views are superb, and you can see both side of the island, just as if you were on top of the lookout point. Steps to get to the top created no challenge, and actually had me resting easy at night, cause you really can't hear the noise from town, although you are basically right there in the middle of it all. The rooms were average at best, and really leaves quite a bit to desire, but none the less, I think this is a great value if you want to stay near the town, beach, and the parties, and we had a very good experience there. And I left with healthier cardio... kill two birds with one stone, with a stay here :-)

Room Tip: Specifically ask for a room with a balcony that has beach views.

I don't agree with the poor reviews written on here, and I am glad I didn't let them put me off. My boyfriend and I stayed here very recently and extended our stay as we were very happy with Arboreal. Having booked for just 2 nights, we stayed for 5 in the end and my brother and his girlfriend checked in here for 1 night as their hotel, Sunset Bay, was so bad.

The staff are really lovely and friendly, made us feel very welcome indeed and they try very hard to make your stay pleasant.

The rooms are pretty good, yes there are a few negatives but our bed was really big and comfy, the room was clean, the shower was nice and hot, the fridge and air con worked. You aren't staying in European-standard 5 star luxury here, but you are silly to expect that if you are travelling around Thailand.

Yes there are steps up to the resort but so what!! If you can't handle it then you must be pretty unfit. Besides, it means you are further from the sounds of the full moon parties on the beach. There are lovely views from the main reception/dining area to enjoy. The food they serve is very good too.

The Phi Phi Viewpoint (20 baht entry) is directly above the hotel and it's well worth the effort to climb up there to take in the view.

I would definitely stay here again, don't be put off by the bad reviews. The worst thing about Phi Phi is the huge amount of boozed-up Club 18-30 types that have taken over the place, a real shame.

We were in Phi Phi during the new year. We booked our resort (room) only one week before and unfortunatly for us there were not many rooms left to choose. It was very expensive and I had high hopes for the resort and room.
I was quite many stairs to climb... exhausting even for us with very good shape.
The room was not clean, no water to drink, 2 lousy chairs in the balkony, only 2 big towels to use. There was 2 pillows and I ask for 2 more. We got the pillows without the pillowcases...
Breakfast was served from 8 to 10. We didn´t eat it because we were already going to dive at that time. Last morning we did eat the breakfast and it was lousy.
Lucy for us, we wasn´t in the island for staying in resort or our room! We were there only because of diving. And to dive there were exellent waters. But never ever again staying at Arboreal again!

Stairs, stairs & more stairs...literally an uphill trek
Not value for money. Staff rude & not cooperative at all.
Drains blocked & the aircon is a joke....

Better options in the main street...do a bit more research
Better rooms in peak season at 1200 bahts will def be available

Room Tip: Look for rooms near the main streets

The staff met us at the pier which was nice, and carried our bags up the hill.

A lot of stairs, but you are immediately repaid be a great view of both beaches, nothing to complain about there.

The place was under construction and overgrown, but it was the low season, so no complaints there either.

The first thing you are greeted with in your room is a list of penalties for certain things, like if you break a glass, break the air con remote, etc. The best one was a 2,000 baht fine for leaving your key in the room while you are not there, which can apparently start a fire! I guess they can't really fine you if you happened to be in the room and are killed by these apparently frequent fires caused by the key. Not a welcoming feeling!

The breakfast - let's just say it's extremely basic. Cold toast and cold boiled eggs.

Our room was not made up and our water was not replaced.

I think there are plenty of better options on Phi Phi - I'd check them all out before staying at Arboreal again.
