“Great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

We stayed here at the beginning of July and found this place to be perfect. We stayed 3 nights in the beach front bamboo huts which were amazing. They are very basic rooms with no hot water or no power during the day but this didn't bother us at all. The food served in the restaurant was some of the best we had had in the whole of Thailand-delicious. It is a short distance from the main area of phi phi but we had no trouble visiting and coming back day or night. Definitely will be returning to this place in the future.

Room Tip: If choosing the bamboo bungalows definitely use bug spray and the mosquito net and you will have no...

Looked perfect on the website so splashed out on the beach front bamboo bungalow as it was our honeymoon.

Braved the bungalow for 2 nights by which time myself and my wife were covered in heat lumps and bites, so we asked to move into one of the less impressive huts on the hillside (which strangely involved us having to pay another premium to do so..?.)

What a honestly terrible room, the view from all the hillside huts is blocked by trees and literally anything and everything is waiting for you in the bathroom, i had a shower with a snake, unique but not great and a german couple had mentioned they had a teranchula in theirs, which my wife experienced on the pathway later on. We are quite adventurous so we laughed this off but after a can of repellant rolled accross the floor we had to move the bed to retrieve it and it was filthy and had a large number of unknown dropping all between the bed and wall.

The beach front bamboo bungalows are nice (of which there are 4) but i would recommend staying only one night max and don't even think about any of the others because they are expensive and might as well be in the middle of the jungle not the coast.

The Staff are very mercenary and apart from 2 seconds before you part with your cash are genuinely rude and unfriendly and go back to this as soon as the money has exchanged hands.

Can only eat in their restaraunt and boat to town will cost you 6-8 pounds there and 10-12 pounds to get back.

Ps this is the first time i have ever written a bad review!

Room Tip: If you want to go to Phi Phi view point go from the other side in town, track from Tokho will spoil...

We are an expat couple, living in Thailand for 10 years. We do speak Thai and are accustomed with the country, its surprises and the Thai way of running a business... ;)
TohKo (Tor Koh??) is a extremely nice resort, run by a lovely family. A first good reason to go there: you are giving your money to people who need it.
It is far from hectic Ton Sai though, and forget about walking there twice a day, unless you really cannot get enough of the gorgeous view points on top of the hill and you are a bit of a hiker.. You will need to pay 150 Baht for a long tail boat if you want to go to the other side.. But why bother?...
Yes bungalows are a little overpriced, but Phi Phi IS an expensive destination anyway and considering that we were getting a completely private beach for the price, I was more than happy to pay and to spend 16 hours a day on it.
Yes they are bugs in the bamboo bungalows: Remember you came to a tropical beach, after all... Just make sure they stay on the outside of the mosquito net. Oh, and also protect yourself from the tiny flies that come out at dusk. Their bites itch like hell and last a couple of days!
The restaurant offers a selection of dishes often cooked a bit too quickly and lacking of the real Thai taste. However, I am very picky on how I like my Thai dishes, so...
Last but not least: snorkeling. Ahhh.. Well... If it is your first time sightseeing tropical fish, you will be do it right in front of your bungalow and you will enjoy it. However, most of coral has been dead and broken for years. Fish still there, but we have seen greater diversity on other islands.
The beach is however extremely clean and totally gorgeous with turquoise blue water. We recommend sitting there at night watching night storms on the mainland...

Room Tip: Sea view bamboo bungalows are very charming and offer a great view on the beach..

The only good thing about this place are the friendly staff. You cannot get comfortable here.there is only power from 6 pm to 6am so during the day you can't get cool. The furniture is old and extremely uncomfortable.the Mosquitos are large and persistent. The resort is a 15 min boat ride from town which they charge you for.they claim you can walk it in 45 min but I am fit and it took over an hour. They charge extra for everything including snorkeling gear. The waitress is a bit slow and gets it wrong a lot although the food is ok. We were there 5 days and there were no room cleans or linen changes. Every time it rained the sewage tank overflowed onto the beach. This place is tired and old.

Room Tip: Don't go.there are much better value places nearer town.

We stayed one night at this resort before moving to Long Beach, as we found this too secluded and basic for our liking. We stayed in one of the cheapest huts, which was very small and dark and the mosquitoes ate us alive during the night as the net had holes in it. The food though was great and the beach was beautiful, but it was just too basic for us and we realised we wanted to be somewhere with more going on.

We stayed here for two night in the middle of April. Found it In a lovely location with absouloutly nowhere anywhere near it apart from the sea sand and jungle!

On arrival we were asked if we wanted to change the room as we initially we had an air con room which is situated towards the top of the hill we were shown this room and others available. We decided for a beach front room which had a fan.... But didn't work!!

The room was extremely basic with a bed a mozzi net (very much needed) and a toilet which is basically outside men can see the sea when having a phi phi!!

A lovely view from the balcony but we didn't use this because of the flying ants and Mosquitos along with the flying cockroach type critters which were everywhere and tended to fall from the tress I to you drink or food or lap!! This was the only problem for me to be honest I hate and creepy crawlies and this place had them all, things I didn't even knew where on this earth!! If bugs don't bug you then this is an excellent place to stay merely for the seclusion of the area it's a mini paradise.

Beach wasn't brilliant but again that's my fault again because it covered in crabs!!!

We used the long tail boat that the accommodation has to tKe us to Maya beach for a couple of hours we decided to use this instead of going on a packed boat with all the other tourists! Good price and only the 4 of us was on it which was nice.

The food in the place was fantastic really really good can not fault this at all.

The electric is only on from 1800 till 0300 hours in the rooms but the restaurant bit has it all day and you can use this to charge batteries etc etc

Other than the bugs this is a top top place I don't think I would stay here again because of this... But maybe I should stop being a wimp!

If you want to get away from all the tourists and find a quiet place Toh Ko seems like a good option. The beach is beautiful, secluded and really peaceful. So if you want to spend a couple of days in a hammock reading a book and enjoying the beach with a cocktail this is a good pick. However if you want to see something more of Ko Phi Phi you'll find yourself rather isolated. The taxiboat will only take you to the village twice a day. The options for visiting the rest of the island which you can book at the resort are very limited and expensive. The food served in the restaurant is fine but not great. The bungalow we stayed in was okay, but I expected a little more for the money we payed (2500 B for a fan-only room).
